The lift table summarized and calculated the life expectancy at each ages according to aging. In this study, we tried to re-classify and summarized the application of the life table because the life table can be applied to several research and industry area. We utilized the whole papers published in Korea and international until 2011 and we considered several classification standards based on application, base period, gender, and observation period. Each standard divides the life tables into two or three categories. The standard of application groups them into general and applied life tables. The standard of base period is divided into two parts: abridge life table using the unit of 5 years and complete life table of one year. According to gender, life tables are classified in male, female, and unisex life tables. According to complete life table, they are period life tables and cohort life tables. This study contributes to inform how life tables can be employed in many other areas by analyzing how the life tables are constructed.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common and multifactorial inflammatory skin disease that is characterized by skin barrier dysfunction, inflammation, and chronic pruritus. AD has a complex etiology that includes genetic, immunological, and environmental factors that cause skin barrier abnormalities and immune dysfunctions. Sophora flavescens (SF) has been used in traditional Chinese medicine, but little research has been conducted on its anti-AD efficacy. In this study, we evaluated the effect of SF extract (SFE) on improving skin barrier function and immune abnormalities, which are the main symptoms of AD. SFE has the capacity to enhance the formation of cornified envelope (CE) that plays an important role in the skin barrier function. In addition, it was confirmed that SFE increased the expression of hyaluronic acid related to skin moisture. The effect of SFE against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), which increases specifically in AD lesions, confirmed that SFE inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines induced by S. aureus. Furthermore, SFE was shown to inhibit the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines induced by substance P (SP), the cause of skin neurogenic inflammation. These results demonstrate that SFE could be one of potential candidate agent for the treatment of AD by improving the skin barrier function and immune responses.

The study explores how Korea's major newspaper cover about science news, especially how newspaper frame biotechnology news including new source, news construction ways, coverage trend. The research has a research design to find out coverage pattern or model with frame theory. The result shows that the newspaper has some aspect of frame through out the biotechnology development in the section, theme, source, complexity. The section has been expend to the society and international section, while the theme shift from disease or cancer cure to life itself, genome, or stem cell. In the complexity, the biotechnology news stories have been developed a story plot (event-problem-development-solution). In the climax, the news coverage focuses on the explanation of biotechnology news.

서로 다른 11주의 Bacillus coagulans와 13종의 Bacillus 속 14주를 deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) -DNA hybridization method에 의해서 분류학적인 연구를 하였다. 사용한 B. coagulans 11주종 6주는 흙에서(일본 오사까교회) 분리했고 나머지 5주는 ATCC, IFO에서 authentic strains을 얻어서 사용했다. 사용된 B. coagulans는 Bergey's Manual(8 thed)에 의거 Grodon씨들의 방법으로 동정한 결과 B. coagulans로서 확인되었다.(중략)

21세기의 여명은 생명공학과 함께 밝아 오기 시작했다. 먼저 1990년부터 30억달러의 연구개발비를 투입하여 미국을 비롯한 세계 15개국가의 3백50여개의 연구기관이 참여하여 추진하는 인간게놈계획이 2000년대 초에 마무리되어 14만개의 사람 유전자가 어떻게 구성되어 있는가 지도를 보듯 한눈에 알아 볼 수 있는 '유전자지도'가 선보인다. 그래서 심장병, 암, 알츠하이머병과 심지어는 에이즈까지 포함하여 유전자의 잘잘못과 관련된 모든 질병의 원인을 근본부터 밝힐 수 있게 되어 특히 의학과 약학을 포함한 생명과학에는 새로운 지평이 펼쳐진다. 세계 주요 연구기관과 저명한 과학자들이 진행중인 연구개발을 통해 21세기의 생명과학의 주요 분야를 전망한다.

본 사례는 생명보험업계의 선도기업인 (주)삼성생명이 고객관계관리(CRM)의 시스템을 도입하게 된 배경과 도입과정 그리고 그 성과를 분석한 것이다. 고객관계관리의 중요성을 널리 알고 있으면서도 실질적으로 전략이 설정되고 시스템이 도입되어 실행되는 예는 전 산업계에서 그리 많지 않은 것이 현실이다. 본 사례를 통하여 어떤 전략 하에 CRM 시스템이 도입되고 실행되는가의 프로세스를 분석하여 성공적인 고객관계관리에 학문적인 그리고 실무적인 시사점을 제공한다.
