  • Since single cell RNA sequencing provides the expression profiles of individual cells, it provides higher cellular differential resolution than traditional bulk RNA sequencing. Using these single cell RNA sequencing data, clustering analysis is generally conducted to find cell types and understand high level biological processes. In order to effectively process the high-dimensional single cell RNA sequencing data fir the clustering analysis, this paper uses a variational autoencoder to transform a high dimensional data space into a lower dimensional latent space, expecting to produce a latent space that can give more accurate clustering results. By clustering the features in the transformed latent space, we compare the performance of various classical clustering methods for single cell RNA sequencing data. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework outperforms many state-of-the-art methods under various clustering performance metrics.

  • In this study, nine major sites of Yulcheon stream, a principal tributary of the Seomjingang River, were surveyed from April 2020 to October 2020, and their fish fauna and community structure were analyzed. A total of five families and 19 species of fish were identified. Among the 19 species, seven species were found to be endemic to Korea: Rhodeus uyekii, Squalidus gracilis majimae, Microphysogobio yaluensis, Odontobutis interrupta, Cobitis tetralineata, Zacco koreanus, and Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae. Among five families, the family Cyprinidae had the largest number of species (15), whereas the rest of the four families: Gobiidae, Odontobutidae, Cobitidae, and Osphronemidae, had one species each. The two dominant species in the family Cyprinidae were identified as Z. platypus and Z. temminckii. The community index of nine major sites of Yulcheon stream was 0.499 dominance, 2.279 diversity, 0.774 evenness, and 2.594 species richness. The number 3 site had 14 species, the largest number of species among all sites, and the dominance rate (0.480) was low, whereas diversity (2.173), and species richness (2.701) were the highest. As a result of cluster analysis, clusters matched according to the structure of the river types, but St. 9, which confirmed a relatively small number of populations, showed a structure similar to that of the upstream section. In the case of St. 5, a separate cluster was formed by a large number of species and populations.

  • To understand the distribution and formation mechanism of benthic foraminiferal assemblages, grain size analysis, 14C radiocarbon dating, and benthic foraminifera analysis were conducted on thirty-two surface sediments collected from the continental shelf of the northern East China Sea, respectively. Surface sediment was composed of sandy mud~muddy sand facies with an average of 52.04% of sand, 13.72% of silt, and 34.20% of clay. These sedimentary facies are palimpsest sediment. Benthic foraminifera was classified into a total of 48 genera and 104 species, including agglutinated foraminifera, calcareous-hyaline, and calcareous-porcelaneous foraminifera. The production rate of agglutinated foraminifera increased toward the Yangtze River area while that of planktonic foraminifera increased toward Jeju Island. Dominant species are Ammonia ketienziensis, Bolivina robusta, Eggella advena, Eilohedra nipponica, Pseudorotalia gamardii, Pseudoparrella naraensis. 14C radiocarbon datings of Bolivina robusta and Pseudorotalia gamardii with the highest production rate were 2,360±40 yr B.P. and 2,450±40 yr B.P., respectively. In the result of cluster analysis, three assemblages composed of P. gaimardii, B. robusta, and A. ketienziensis-P. naraensis were classified broadly. P. gaimardii assemblage is thought to be formed from about 2.5 yr B.P. at the sea area of the Yangtze River to 50 m in water depth affected by fresh water. B. robusta assemblage is thought to be formed from about 2.4 yr B.P. at the sea area of Jeju Island to 50~100 m affected by offshore water. And then, A. ketienziensisP. naraensis assemblage was formed in the northwest sea area (Central Yellow Sea Mud). These distributions and composition of benthic foraminiferal assemblages formed from about 2.5 yr B.P. in the northern East China Sea are thought to be due to the change of benthic ecology environment that occurred by the sea level increase during the late Holocene.

  • In order to minimize the signaling delay for a resource reservation on the new routing path after the handover of Mobile Node(MN) is completed, it is important to discover the crossover node where the old and new routing paths meet. With the 크로스오버 노드 being found, the signaling messages only need to be transferred on the changed part of the end-to-end path. The crossover node is generally discovered using the end-to-end Session ID(SID) of the established session between MN and Correspondent Node(CN). However, in the Hierarchical Mobile IPv6(HMIPv6) network, if the Mobile Anchor Point (MAP) reserves the resource by aggregate with the Home Agent(HA), the crossover node discovery cannot be performed in the general way since the aggregate SID that has established between the previous MAP and HA is different from the that of the current MAP and HA after MN's handover. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to discover the crossover node within the tunnel between the MAP and the HA in an HMIPv6 network, assuming that the Next Steps in Signaling(NSIS) is deployed for the resource reservation and the aggregate reservation is applied over the MAP and HA tunnel. The local repair required for the change of path is performed upon the crossover node discovery. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces the signaling delay for the reservation and outperforms the existing scheme with respect to throughput during the handover.

  • In the recent era of NewSpace, unlike high-reliability satellites of the past, low-reliability satellites are being developed and mass-produced at a lower cost to launch constellations satellites. To achieve cost-effective cluster satellite development, satellite users and developers need to assess the feasibility of maintaining mission performance over the expected lifespan when cluster satellites are launched. Plans for replacements due to random failures should also be established to maintain performance. This study proposed a method for assessing system reliability and availability to maintain mission performance and establish replacement strategies for Earth observation constellation satellites. In this study, a constellation reliability and availability model considering mission performance required for a satellite constellation, situations of satellite backup, and additional ground backups was established. The reliability model was structured based on the concept of a k-out-of-n system and the availability model used a Markov chain model. Based on the proposed reliability model, the minimum number of satellites required to meet mission requirements was defined and satellites needed in orbit during the required mission period to satisfy mission reliability were calculated. This research also analyzed the number of spare satellites in orbit and on the ground required to meet the desired availability during required service period through availability analysis.
