KSR-Ⅲ 공력특성 및 발사화염 충돌유동에 대한 연구 (Aerodynamic characteristics of KSR-Ⅲ and jet impingement on a deflector during launch)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국항공우주연구원에서 개발하고 있는 3단형 과학로켓(KSR-Ⅲ)의 기본 공력특성을 파악하기 위한 풍동실험/수치해석을 실시하고, 발사시 배기화염 전파과정을 수치해석하였다. 풍동실험은 국방과학연구소의 4×4 feet 삼중음속 풍속과 6.4% 축소모델을 이용하여 마하수 0.4~3.8의 범위에 대해 실시하였으며, 동일형상에 대한 Euler 유동해석을 수행하여 실험결과와 비교/분석하였다. 또한 발사시 배출되는 화염이 로켓하부의 간섭없이 방출되는 가를 확인하기 위해 화염이 편향장치에 도달하고 전파되는 과정을 비정상 Euler 유동해석하였다.

  • The tribrachial flame in laminar coflow jet has been investigated experimentally with unsteady propagating condition. With adopting various visualization techniques, including OH-PLIF, Rayleigh Scattering technique, it was confirmed that the location of tribrachial point is on the inclined surface of flame and the propagation speed of tribrachial flame was significantly affected by the velocity gradient.

  • The performance in the practical combustion system including reciprocating engines and gas turbine combustors is being much governed by turbulent reacting flow that is often analyzed by both a laminar flamelets concept and flame interaction. The characteristics of laminar flame interaction have been investigated numerically to provide basic understanding of wrinkled turbulent flames under concentration interaction resulting from inhomogeneity in fuel-air mixing, especially focused on the transition of flame characteristics such as diffusion flame, partially premixed diffusion flame, and triple-layer flame by the variation in the degree of premixedness. The extinction stretch rates to the premixedness have also been obtained in this paper. The boundary defining the regime of the existence of triple-layer flames as functions of both stretch rate and premixedness has been determined which agrees well with previously reported experiment measuring OH radical concentration peaks based on PLIF.

희박-과농 메탄 화염의 상호작용에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Lean-Rich Interaction of Methane/Air Flames)

  • Interaction of flames in a lean-rich concentration field is studied numerically adopting a counterflow as a model problem. Detailed kinetic mechanism is adopted in analyzing the structure of various type of flames which can be found in lean-rich interaction. Flow field is simplified to quasi one-dimensional by using boundary layer approximation and similarity formulation. Triple flames are identified and its structure shows that a diffusion flame is located in the middle of two premixed flames. Such a diffusion flame is formed by $H_2$ and CO generated from the rich premixed flame and $O_2$ leaked from the lean premixed flame. The flame position can be identified either from the hydrogen production rate or the heat release rate. Transition from single diffusion flame to triple flame is observed as degree of premixing is increased.

  • 비예혼합 화염의 안정성에 관한 종래의 연구는 연료노즐이나 퀄의 형상에 초점을 많은 맞추어 왔으나 화염안정화에 중요한 연료의 후퇴거리 및 공기노즐의 홀 형상에 대한 연구는 상대적으로 부족하여 이에 관한 연구가 절실한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 메탄 분류 후퇴거리 및 2 차 공기의 홀 형상에 따른 연소특성을 관찰하기 위해 동축 삼중관 형태의 버너를 설계하였다. 1 차 공기는 스월러를 통하여 분류하였고, 2 차 공기는 홀 형상 및 슬릿 형상의 각 노즐로부터 분류되었다. 본 연구에 사용된 실험실 스케일 버너로부터 2 차 공기의 유속은 화염의 형태에 영향을 끼치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 후퇴거리의 경우 공급관외경의 절반에 해당하는 거리로 설정했을 때 화염이 안정적으로 존재하고, 휘도는 더욱 높아짐을 알 수 있었다.

과농/희박 메탄 예혼합화염의 안정성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Stability of Rich/Lean Methane Premixed Flame)

  • The fuel-lean premixed flame has been considered one of the most efficient ways to reduce $NO_X$ emission during a combustion process. However, it is difficult to achieve stable fuel-lean premixed flames over the wide range of equivalence ratios: therefore, the application of fuel-lean flames to a practical combustion system is rather limited. In this study, the stability characteristics of fuel-lean flames stabilized by fuel-rich flames are investigated experimentally using a slot burner as a part of the basic research for practical application such as lean burn engines. Spontaneous emission of radical species were examined to understand the stability mechanisms of rich-lean premixed flames. The presence of fuel-rich flames could significantly lower the lean limit of fuel-lean flames. The stability of a fuel-lean flame is enhanced with the increase of fuel flow rate in a fuel-rich flame; how ever, it is not sensitive to the equivalence ratio of fuel-rich flames in the range of 1.2-2.4. The mechanisms of stable rich-lean premixed flames could be understood based on the characteristics of triple flame.
