Analysis of Multi-Mode Reflection and Transmission Coefficients of a Lamb Wave Across a Rectangular Notch (사각형 노치에 대한 램파의 다중 모드 반사와 투과 계수 해석)

  • The purpose of the present work is to derive the reflection and transmission coefficients of $S_0\;and\;A_0$ mode Lamb waves in relation to the geometry of a rectangular notch when the waves propagate across the notch in an elastic plate. Firstly, the excitable modes of the Lamb wave were analyzed with respect to the plate thickness. The scattering phenomena were divided into three independent processes according to the boundary shape of the notch and the direction of the wave propagation. Linear equations for each process were derived with corresponding free or continuous boundary conditions to analyze the scattered waves. By the rule of linear superposition, the waves scattered at each process were summed for each mode. Then the steady-state reflection and transmission coefficients of the scattered waves were determined so that the difference of energy flux between the incident and the scattered waves would remain within 4%.

  • 산란체가 있을 때에 음장은 입사파와 산란파로 구분될 수 있다. 입사파는 산란체에 영향을 받지 않는다. 바꿔 말하면 음원으로부터 나온 소리는 청취자와 주위 환경에 무관하다. 이 논문에 제시된 입사음장 재생시스템은 주어진 공간내에서 입사음장을 재생하여 청취자에 독립적인 가상음장을 만드는 시스템이다. 입사음장 재생은 경계표면제어원칙에 기반하였다.

  • 철(Iron)을 재질로한 ka가 큰 원통에서의 산란파를 측정 분석하였다. ka가 클 경우 산란파는 주로 Geometrical wave에 의해 구성되며, 이 Geometrical wave는 기하광학의 법칙을 따르게 된다. 본 연구에서는 각 mode의 Geometrical wave에 대하여 송.수신 위치에 따른 이론적인 펄스 도달 시간과 측정 분석된 도달시간을 비교하여 Geometrical wave를 관찰하였다.

  • Sonar is the system that detects objects and finds their location in water by using the echo ranging technique. In order to have excellent performance in variable environment, acoustic characteristics of this system must be analyzed accurately. In this paper, based on the finite element analysis, modeling and analysis of acoustic characteristics of underwater acoustic sensors are preformed. Couplings between piezoelectric and elastic materials, and fluid and structure systems associated with the modeling of piezoelectric underwater acoustic sensors are formulated. In the finite element modeling of unbounded acoustic fluid, IWEE (Infinite Eave Envelop Element) is adopted to take into account the infinite domain. When an incidence wave excites the surface of Tonpilz underwater acoustic sensor, the scattered wave on the sensor is founded by satisfying the radiation condition at the artificial boundary approximately. Based on this scattering analysis, the electrical response of the underwater acoustic sensor under incidence, so called RVS (Receiving Voltage Signal) is founded accurately. This will devote to design Sonar systems accurately.

  • The scattered field by a gap/crack on the PEC surface of a large object having low-observable RCS cannot be negligible, but may not be analyzed by the known high-frequency technique. If the electrical width of the crack is very small, the crack can be modeled by an impedance strip, whose scattering formulation can be analytically obtained based on a low-frequency approximation. The scattering solution is formulated for the 2D strip and TE(Transverse Electric) or TM(Transverse Magnetic) wave incidence, from which a 3D ILDC(Incremental Length Diffraction Coefficients) can be extracted. Using the ILDC formulation, the scattering by any arbitrary shaped crack can be estimated. In this paper, an improved ILDC equations are proposed, which combine the known TE and TM solutions. The improved accuracy of the proposed solution is numerically verified.

  • The theory for long wave scattering (Proudman, 1914: Longuet-Higgins, 1970) is applied to a tidal-frequency Kelvin wave propagating around a small cylindrical island in a shelf sea of uniform depth. The theory includes the effects of bottom friction on wave propagation. The theoretical analysis of the Kelvin wave around the island. this amplitude change results in a uniform amplitude of the total wave along the circumference of the island in an inviscid fluid, and the dynamic cause of this is explained in terms of Coriolis effects. Bottom friction attenuates the amplitude of the total wave from the frontal side of the island to the leeward side, but the amplitude variation along the coast becomes symmetric to the line connecting both idea. The phase of the scattered wave contributes to more rapid travel of the total wave in the front and leeward side than farther offshore. The effects of bottom friction on the wave phase around the island are negligible.

  • The Green integral equation for the calculation of the forward-speed time-harmonic radiation-diffraction potentials IS derived. The forward-speed Green function presented by Brard is used and the correct free surface boundary condition for the Green function is imposed. The cause of the mistakes in the existing Green integral equation is also pointed out.

  • For H-polarized incident plane wave, an exact integral expression for the scattered field by an inversely tapered resistive half plane is obtained by using Kontorovich-Lebedev transform. Uniform asymptotic results available for all angles are obtained, and non-uniform asymptotic results which provide the ray-optical interpretation of the calculated scattered field are also obtained. The edge diffraction patterns for several values of inverse proportionality of resistivity are shown. We find out that the results are in agreement with physical reasoning.

  • This paper describes two different theories used to model the scattering of ultrasound by a volumetric flaw and a crack-like flaw. The elastodynamic Kirchhoff approximation (EKA) and the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) are applied respectively to a cylindrical cavity and a semi-infinite crack. These methods are known as high frequency approximations. The 2-D elastodynamic scattering problems of a plane wave incident on these model defects are considered and the scattered fields are expressed in terms of the reflection and diffraction coefficients. The ratio of the scattered far field amplitude to the incident wave amplitude is computed as a function of the angular location and compared with the boundary element solutions.

  • The TE-mode characteristics of scattering and reception by a flanged parallel-plate waveguide are examined. The technique of the Fourier transform is used to represent the scattered fields in the spectral domain. The simultaneous equations for the transmitted field coefficients are solved to obtain the solution in an asymptotic series form. The numerical computations are performed to illustrate the behaviors of the scattered field and the transmission coefficients versus the aperture size.
