다나 해러웨이의 사이버 페미니즘과 김선희의 에코 페미니즘은 현대 과학기술을 서로 상이한 시각에서 바라보고 있다. 사이버 페미니즘이 현대 과학기술의 성과를 긍정적인 시각에서 바라보고 그 해방적 측면을 환영한다면, 에코 페미니즘은 현대 과학기술 속에 있는 전체주의적 시각과 인간부정의 측면을 날카롭게 비판하고 있다. 사이버 페미니즘은 사이보그라는 개념을 통해 생물학적 한계와 가부장제적 질곡에 얽매인 여성이 아닌, 새로운 미래의 여성을 그림으로써 모더니즘적 인간관에서 벗어나는 해방적 성과를 보여주지만, 과학기술과 생명과학을 실질적으로 소유하는 소수의 지배권력에 의한 위험성을 간과함으로써 안이한 측면을 노정시키고 있다. 이에 반해 에코 페미니즘은 현대 과학기술이 소수의 지배권력에 의해 독점됨으로써 발생할 수 있는 위험에 주목한다는 장점을 갖고 있음에도 불구하고, 단순히 육체성과 여성성을 통해 현대 과학기술 시대의 전체주의적 사고를 극복해낼 수 있다고 봄으로써 과학기술의 성과를 페미니즘이 담아내지 못하고 모더니즘적 이원론적 인간관에 머무르고 있다.

학문적 논의를 중심으로 했던 1, 2세대 페미니즘에 비해, 현대의 젊은 페미니스트들에 의해 주장되고 실행되는 3세대 페미니즘은 젊은 여성들의 분노와 쾌락을 표출하고 있으며, 특히 걸 파워는 개인주의, 독립성, 적극적 섹슈얼리티 등을 통해 여성 권력을 주장한다. 본 연구는 3세대 페미니즘을 성(도덕), 문화, 인종, 공간, 성적 소수자 관점에서 파워 페미니즘, 포스트펑크 페미니즘, 3세계 페미니즘, 사이버페미니즘, 퀴어페미니즘으로 분류하고, 3세대 페미니즘을 표현하는 매체로 대중음악의 걸 파워를 선정하여, 걸 파워 의상에 표현된 여성성과 그 미적 특성을 연구했다.

The purpose of this study was to review such results of the scientific and technological development as women's changed status, sexual identity and their views of physique in the cyber space based on cyber feminists' theories, and thereby, examine the concept of space during the medieval age, and then, the fundamental spiritual concept involving the fetishism of women's body as sexual objects in the materialistic space of the digital age in terms of the consciousness of trend or supra-sensual perceptions, and thereby, review the effect of the cyber terrorism and violence on the fashion in sub-cultural terms. Some researchers distinguish psychedelic styles from cyberdelic ones to assume such psychiatric visions as psychedelic fashion characterized by resistance and delinquency-cyber punk fashion, cyber hippie fashion, cyborg fashion- and then, define them all as cyber resistant culture fashion or as a sub-cultural style of the cyber culture. As a result, it was found that human bodies are being encoded with the networks, various cyber characters or avatars are emerging, while human bodies are being distorted or exaggerated with human beings and machines being imploded.

이 연구는 젠더연구에서 몸과 테크놀로지가 가지는 의미를 고찰함으로써, '여성'이라는 범주가 고정된 것이 아니라 '여성되기'의 진행적인 과정임을 제시한다. 신자유주의 시대에 젠더 정체성은 여성과 테크놀로지의 관계를 재설정해야 할 여러 가지 문제들을 제시하고 있으며, 이 관계의 역동성을 이해하기 위해서는 '몸'의 문제를 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이를 위해서 본 연구는 먼저 페미니즘 연구와 젠더 연구 전반에서 몸에 대한 담론이 진행되어온 과정과 의미를 탐색했다. 이어서 몸과 젠더의 관계에서 테크놀로지가 갖는 위치를 살펴보고, 몸이 젠더 정체성을 주체적으로 수행하는 동시에 정체성이 구성되기도 하는 담론의 장이자 물질적 장소임을 주장했다. 마지막으로는 몸과 젠더와 테크놀로지의 삼자관계에 집중한 사이버페미니즘의 논의를 구체적으로 살펴봄으로써, '여성되기'에서 테크놀로지가 갖는 역할과 의미를 재고해야 할 필요성에 대해 논의했다. 결국 여성되기에 있어서 테크놀로지가 갖는 의미를 살펴보는 일은, 일상의 경험 세계에서 몸이 지니는 담론적이고 실천적인 의미에 대한 숙고를 통해 이루어져야 함을 제시했다. '여성되기'의 가능성은, 몸-젠더-테크놀로지의 접합방식과 과정에 대한 탐구를 통해 젠더의 (재)구성을 살펴볼 때만 상상될 수 있을 것이다.

The Purpose of this study was to review the effects of the cyberspace mentality on fashion as a visible symbol of feminity and to analyze terms of its aesthetic values. As for the research methodology, relevant theories across cultures and disciplines are reviewed and an experimental study is conducted to explore spiritual objectives in cyberspace. Then, major issues facing the digital society. symbolized in the computer networks, are reviewed in terms of feminine identity and physical beauty from a feminist＇s viewpoint. Lastly, the aesthetic values found in the spatial meditation of a new dimension (reality versus virtuality) is comparatively analyzed. The virual reality technology and bio-medical technology are combined to be represented in fashion to create a more realistic virtual world than the real one. Such a world may well be characterized by virtuality, artificiality, masquerade, and fantasy. The intrinsic values which are revealed as psychiatrical or psychological implicated values featuring virtual or artificial implications may well be characterized by distopia, hyper, hybridity and Sur Reality.
