  • In order to minimize the damage from system failures, systems over various fields are requested to contain the safety-critical features. In this paper, we deliver the considerable issues, especially, in the cyber physical systems that is recently used as a safety-critical system, as well as we propose the model driven architecture based on time as its the important factor. Based on meta-modeling approach, we introduce the time-based architecture which is associated with deadline, transition state, and threshold, and also we work out a design for this by using model driven architecture. We propose a realizable safety-critical architecture by means of showing failure handling components with safety transaction model from the meta-model. In the detailed models and the example, we design a basic safety processing state, a multiple safety processing state, and a compound safety processing state for completing the safety-critical system architecture.

  • Development of science technology make integrated CPS(Cyber-Physical System) appear. In CPS era, cyberspace and physical-space are hard to separate anymore, that is developing toward integrated CPS. The reality is not stopping, that is consistently changing and the concept of space is developing too. But several articles are considering for cyberspace and physical-space separately, and they are developing tailed alternative each case. The theorical approaching that is not considering reality is dwelled on past, and is dangerous from dropping down to floating cloud that is not considering progressed reality. This article is suggested to consider rimland theory to control measures in cyberspace. That is dedicated to integrated approaching from physical-space to cyberspace. And that is developing concreted controling measures in cyberspace. Especially, this article is suggested to policy alternative by analyzing north korea cyber warfare from rimland theory including human sources. Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. This article make integrated approaching effects about cyberspace and physical-space to preparing in the CPS era.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends and present future research directions in the field of Cyber Physical System (CPS), a key element in the 4th Industrial Revolution, Industry 4.0, and Smart Manufacturing that are currently promoted as important innovation agenda both at home and abroad. In this study, (1) the concepts of industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and CPS are summarized; (2) analysis criteria of these fields are established; and 3) analysis results are presented and future research direction is proposed. 74 overseas and 8 domestic literature on manufacturing CPS from 2013 to 2017 are identified through 'Google Scholar Search'. Major results of the analysis are summarized as follows: (1) research on a common methodology and framework for the manufacturing CPS needs to be done based on the analysis of the existing methodologies and frameworks of various perspectives; (2) in order to improve the maturity of the manufacturing CPS, it is necessary to study actual deployment and operations of CPS, including the existing systems; (3) it is necessary to study the diagnostic methodology that can evaluate manufacturing CPS and suggest improvement strategy; and (4) as for the detailed model and tool, it is necessary to reinforce research on SCM production planning and human-machine collaboration while considering the characteristics of CPS.

  • Heterogeneous physical systems and computational devices are incorporated on a large-scale in a CPS (cyber-physical system) environment. Simulations can be useful for the reliable behaviors of CPSs. Time synchronization is one of major technical issues for the simulations. In the CPS, distributed systems control themselves by interacting with each other during runtime. When some simulation models have high complexity, wrong control commands as well as incorrect data can be exchanged due to the time error. We propose a time synchronization algorithm for the hybrid model that has characteristics of both continuous time systems and discrete event systems. In addition, we develop a CPS simulator based on our algorithm. For the verification of the algorithm and the execution of the simulator, we develop an example hybrid model and simulate considering user controls as well as interactions among the distributed systems.

  • The cyber battlefield called the fifth battlefield, is not based on geological information unlike the existing traditional battlefiels in the land, sea, air and space, and has a characteristics that all information has tightly coupled correlation to be anlayized. Because the cyber battlefield has created by the network connection of computers located on the physical battlefield, it is not completely seperated from the geolocational information but it has dependency on network topology and software's vulnerabilities. Therefore, the analysis for cyber battlefield should be provided in a form that can recognize information from multiple domains at a glance, rather than a single geographical or logical aspect. In this paper, we describe a study on the development of the cyber operation COP(Common Operational Picture), which is essential for command and control in the cyber warfare. In particular, we propose an architecure for cyber operation COP to intuitively display information based on visualization techniques applying the multi-layering concept from multiple domains that need to be correlated such as cyber assets, threats, and missions. With this proposed cyber operation COP with multi-layered visualization that helps to describe correlated information among cyber factors, we expect the commanders actually perfcrm cyber command and control in the very complex and unclear cyber battlefield.
