  • In the airborne SAR, the motion errors induced by atmospheric turbulence decrease the resolution and increase the sidelobes. If the sidelobes are not properly compensated, the image quality is degraded. Thus, in this paper, we have introduced the sidelobe reduction method to increase the image quality. After we calculate the scene center based on the estimated squint angle for the flight path partitioned by the subaperture technique, we perform the motion compensation for the scene center. Then, after we perform the recursive sidelobe reduction for the region of interest in the reconstructed SAR image, we extend it for the full image.

  • In this paper, an offset paraboloidal reflector antenna satisfied efficiency of over 60% and sidelobe envelope line of 29-25$log\theta$ was designed and manufactured for Ku-band VSAT(Very Small Aperture Terminal) antenna. The radiation patterns of experimental antenna were computed by applying the series expansion method using the Zernike polynomials. The measured patterns are in good agreement with the computed results. The Gain, efficiency, and sidelobe envelop line fairly well satisfy the design specifications except first sidelobe level.

  • In this paper, a shaped small-size ADE(Axially Displaced Ellipse) reflector antenna of 30 cm in diameter operating from 37 to 40 GHz was designed. The experimental antenna was manufactured, and the radiation characteristics evaluated. In the procedure of antenna design, aperture field distribution was assumed to uniform + parabolic distribution. And the variations of beam width, aperture efficiency, and sidelobe level as functions of aperture field distributions were investigated, and these results presented to be used in antenna design. The measured gain and sidelobe level of experimental antenna were found 39.9 dBi(efficiency : 61.9%) and -18.8 dB for 40 GHz. These values show good agreement in design goal of efficiency more than 60% and sidelobe level less than -20 dB.

  • Because the installation problem of parabola antenna that is tilted to 45 degree when this antenna is installed at the area of middle latitude, the study on planar antenna in place of parabola antenna is made rapid progess. Especially, The development of the planar antenna for VSAT is needed depending on the increased Ka-band satellite communications. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level, the design method of the radiation power distribution control using the different slot widths is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave waveguide antennas is showing 35.16 dBi of gain, 2.5 degree of beamwidth at azimuth, below than -30 dB of sidelobe level, 45.8 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 30.2 GHz.

  • Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ka band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level the radiation power control using a design method of the different slot width is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave elements is showing 34.4 dBi of gain, 3.6 degree of beamwidth, below than -25 dB of sidelobe level, 43 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 20.0 GHz. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.

  • The underwater acoustic lens system is one of the systems getting high-resolution images on the seafloor by the beam forming method using acoustic lens. The beam forming using acoustic lenses reduces complexity and driving power. When receiving an incoming beam with the acoustic lens array, beam pattern analysis and arrangement problem of the array sensor must be addressed. Introducing SIR (Signal to Interference Ratio), the relationship among sensor interval, beam pattern and image quality would be analyzed. Generally if the sensor interval getting wider, the less effect of the side lobes makes SIR high. If the amplitude of a side lobe is high, SIR is generally getting low. The type of the apodization function changes the width, shape and amplitude of both main lobe and side lobes. Thus an appropriate apodization function can improve SIR. In this paper, SIR is stable at the sensor interval of 13mm with 0-10dB, which is not high relatively. By applying the Chebyshev function, the SIR becomes 80dB over the sensor interval of 37 mm or higher. The Hann and triangular functions demonstrate better SIR when the sensor interval becomes narrower.

  • In this pape, an analysis approach for the performance of serial search burst-format direct sequence spread-spectrum code acquisiion system using matched filter is presented. And an acquistion system using analog matched filter is analyzed by this approach. And special consideration is focused on the effect of the code autocorelation sideobes. The basic idea of thi approach is the constuction of state tansition digram at the time of random packet arrival and the calculation of the packet loss probability, which is deveoped in terms of the following parameters: the false alarm probability. the etection probability, and the probability of receiver blocking obtained from the blocked customers cleae queeing system model. The analysis results reveal that the performance of the acquisition system is degraded by the effet of the code autocorrelation sidelobes above a certain value of SN/chip.

  • In this paper, we fabricated transmitting and receiving antennas to realize the low cost radar using two receiving antennas and investigated their characteristics. The antennas are designed with MPA(Microstrip Patch Array) structure for the beam concentration in horizon direction and low cost and used Taylor array pattern synthesis to suppress sidelobes. As a results of measurement in the 24GHz ISM band(24.0-24.25GHz), our using band, antenna gains are placed between 15.2 dBi and 16.26 dBi which are satisfied with the design specification of higher than 15dBi and lower than 17dBi. The sidelobes are -13.15 dBc, -13.1 dBc and -12.8 dBc at the operating frequencies of 24.0 GHz, 24.125 GHz and 24.25 GHz repectively, which are satisfied with the specification of lower than -10 dBc.
