전문가 심층분석-국내 소해면상뇌증(BSE) 예찰 현황

  • 2005년 이전 OIE 위생규약상 BSE 예찰기준은 성우(24개월령 이상) 사육규모별로 BSE 유사 임상증상을 보이는 임상의심축을 일정 두수 검사하도록 권고하였으며, 우리나라는 당시 사육규모 당 99두의 임상의 심축만을 검사하면 동 기준을 충족했다. 그러나 OIE의 BSE 예찰기준은 2004년 EU 전염성해면상 뇌증(TSE) 연합 표준 실험실(Community Reference Laboratory, CRL)인 영국 수의연구청에 의해 개발된 BSurvE model과 동모델에 대한 회원국의 의견에 기초하여 2005년 이전의 두수제에서 점수제로 개정됐다. 우리나라는 점수제를 2007년부터 적용했다.

  • 본 회지에 '수생양서류의 사육관리와 질병'과 '수생동물의 외과적 치료 기법'을 연재한 데 이어, 이번에는 야생 또는 수족관에서 사육되고 있는 수생포유류의 해부 및 생리를 통해 동물 종류별로 구조와 특징을 알아보고, 진단과 치료를 위한 보정과 마취, 각 병원체별 질병의 종류, 그리고 질병의 예방과 치료대책 등을 2회에 걸쳐 연재함으로서, 수생동물 질병에 관심이 있는 일부 전문가는 물론이고, 가끔 수생포유류 환축을 접할 수 있는 지역 동물병원의 수의사 및 대학에서 연구하는 수의사 및 학생에게 이 글이 조금이나마 도움이 되고자 한다.

  • 대한민국 국민들이 가장 좋아하는 식품은 아마도 쇠고기일 것입니다. 하지만 수입쇠고기는 불안하고, 한우는 가격 때문에 부담스러울 것입니다. 그래서 한우보다 경제적이면서, 수입산 보다 믿을 수 있는 맛있는 쇠고기 '육우'를 소개하고자 합니다. '육우'란 국내법상 한우고기와 젖소고기를 제외한 모든 쇠고기를 의미하지만, 대부분은 고기생산을 주목적으로 사육된 얼룩소 수소를 말합니다. 얼룩소(홀스타인종)가 수송아지를 낳으면 한우와 같이 전문적인 사육방법으로 비육시켜 전문고기소 '육우'가되고, 암송아지를 낳으면 우유를 생산하는 '젖소'가 됩니다.

  • Changes of gill tissue and body composition of grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) and Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) by the manipulation of salinity were observed in a recirculating rearing system. Salinity was increased from $0\%_{\circ}$ to $33\%_{\circ}$for 1 day and remained far 15days, thereafter salinity was decreased from $33\%_{\circ}$ to $0\%_{\circ{$ for 1 day and remained for other 15 days. Any morphological differences of gill lamella in grey mullet were not observed in seawater and freshwater. However, on day 2 in exposure to seawater, Nile tilapia showed the edema and bloodclot in gill lamella. In the case of grey mullet, mitochondria and tubular system of chloride cell were more densely packed according to the salinity increase. The whole body of grey mullet showed no significant differences in moisture content during experimental period. However, moisture content in whole body of the Nile tilapia was signincantly decreased when exposed to seawater. Protein content in whole body of grey mullet showed no significant difference between beginning and day 15 of the experiment.

  • 우리나라의 해수어류 양식생산량은 사육환경, 사육관리조건 및 적조, 냉수대, 저염 분수의 양식장내 유입 등 자연재해에 의해 생산량 변동이 심하여 어가의 불안정한 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 집약적 어류양식에서 발생하는 부적당한 환경, 영양 및 인위적 스트레스는 어류의 최적 성장을 저해하며, 양식생산의 계획화에 지장을 초래한다. 환경요인중 수온, 염분 및 수질의 급변은 양식어류에 상당한 스트레스 요인으로 작용하는데, 이중 염분변화는 어류의 체내 삼투압 변화를 유도하고, 이때 어류는 체내 항상성을 유지하기 위하여 삼투압 조절을 한다.   • 지난해 말 4백 80만 1천두에서 금년 3월 현재 4백 30만 4천두로 급격히 줄어든 사육두수를 회복하는데에는 상당한 시일이 걸릴 것이다. 따라서 돼지공급량의 부족에 따른 돼지값의 강세는 지속될 것으로 보인다.

Survey on Feeding Facilities and Animal Welfare Level of Laying Hen Welfare Certified Farms (국내 동물복지 인증 산란계 농가의 사육시설 및 동물복지 수준 현황 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate farmers' field survey to improve animal welfare certification standards and to obtain basic data on the animal welfare level for certified farmers to develop evaluation methods of animal welfare level suitable for domestic farm environment. The subjects of the study were selected 10 animal welfare laying certified farmhouses. The farming certified farming facility survey collected breeding form, head, feed and drink space, breeding density, length and shape of perch. Animal welfare was assessed by the presence of sand bath, spawning, enrichment measures, free range, feathers pecking. The results of the study showed that most the certified animal welfare laying hens complied with the certification standards. All the farms were providing the nest box, but there were farms with more than 20% of the spawning rate. The perches were provided in sufficient length, but only three of ten farms were using rounded perches. Feather damage has been identified in most survey farms, which is likely to be due to feather damage caused by roosters producing both fertilized eggs. In this study, 10 farm households were surveyed. It was not possible to represent the whole certified farmhouse. Therefore, it should be analyzed thoroughly to evaluate the level of animal welfare.

A Farm on Laying Hens' Welfare in Korea (동물복지 관련 산란계 농가 실태조사)

  • Studies of non-cage or alternative systems have been discussing in EU because the EU has banned use of conventional cages for laying hens since 2012. This survey was carried out the information related to laying hens' welfare in Korea. Laying hens' breeding systems divided into deep litter, free range and alternative system, and livestock housings divided into windowless housing and open-type housing. The ratios of trough and bell feeder types were 37.5% and 62.5%, respectively. The ratios of nipple, trough, and bucket in waterer types 75%, 12.5%, and 12.5%, respectively. What stocking density is the most appropriate for production and welfare has been aroused. All laying hen farms met the required standards of stocking density ranged from 3.4 birds/$m^2$ to 7.6 birds/$m^2$ in this survey. According to welfare standards for laying hens, perch length should not be less than 15 cm. However, most laying hen farms did not satisfied the standards. We believe that presentdata contribute to develop alternative systems and to improve animal welfare in Korea.

Current status and future of insect smart factory farm using ICT technology (ICT기술을 활용한 곤충스마트팩토리팜의 현황과 미래)

  • In the insect industry, as the scope of application of insects is expanded from pet insects and natural enemies to feed, edible and medicinal insects, the demand for quality control of insect raw materials is increasing, and interest in securing the safety of insect products is increasing. In the process of expanding the industrial scale, controlling the temperature and humidity and air quality in the insect breeding room and preventing the spread of pathogens and other pollutants are important success factors. It requires a controlled environment under the operating system. European commercial insect breeding facilities have attracted considerable investor interest, and insect companies are building large-scale production facilities, which became possible after the EU approved the use of insect protein as feedstock for fish farming in July 2017. Other fields, such as food and medicine, have also accelerated the application of cutting-edge technology. In the future, the global insect industry will purchase eggs or small larvae from suppliers and a system that focuses on the larval fattening, i.e., production raw material, until the insects mature, and a system that handles the entire production process from egg laying, harvesting, and initial pre-treatment of larvae., increasingly subdivided into large-scale production systems that cover all stages of insect larvae production and further processing steps such as milling, fat removal and protein or fat fractionation. In Korea, research and development of insect smart factory farms using artificial intelligence and ICT is accelerating, so insects can be used as carbon-free materials in secondary industries such as natural plastics or natural molding materials as well as existing feed and food. A Korean-style customized breeding system for shortening the breeding period or enhancing functionality is expected to be developed soon.
