이 연구는 도시공간의 어메니티를 실현하기 위한 수단으로서 사운드스케이프(soundscape)에 관한 연구조사의 결과를 소개한다. 사운드스케이프 및 사운드스케이프 디자인에 관한 개념과 사상을 고찰하고, 남원시의 사운드스케이프 조사를 예로 하여 지역에 있어서 음, 인간 및 환경과의 관계로부터 사운드 어메니티(sound amenity)를 실현하는데 있어서 음이 갖는 의미와 역할을 모색한다. 사운드스케이프 조사방법으로써 문헌조사, 필드조사 및 설문조사를 이용하여 남원지역의 음풍경을 조사${\cdot}$분석하고, 그 시대적, 계절적, 시간적인 음풍경의 변화와 현상, 그리고 지역주민의 음에 관한 인식특성을 파악한다. 조사결과, 지역에 있어서 자연환경을 보존하고 축제등의 전통적인 생활문화를 계승하는 것은 지역의 사운드스케이프와 어메니티 형성에 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 또한 도시공간의 사운드스케이프 연구는 이러한 일련의 조사연구활동 및 교육활동 등을 포함한 다양한 활동과 여러 영역에서의 유기적인 교류활동이 이루어져야 쾌적한 음환경 창조가 가능하다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.

Soundscape provides important resources to understand social and cultural aspects of our society, however, it is still its infancy to study on the research framework to record, conserve, categorize, and analyze soundscapes. Topic modeling is an automatic approach to discover hidden themes that are disperse in unstructured documents, thus topic modeling is robust enough to find latent topics such as research trends behind a collection of documents. The purpose of this paper is to discover topics on current soundscape research based on topic modeling, furthermore, to discuss the possibilities to design a metadata system for sound archives and to improve Soundscape Ontology which is currently developing.

The aim of this study is to find out directions for development of soundscape design for creating a unique sound culture in a region, and to search for the practical strategies toward a soundscape design movement in Korea. For these specific aims, several components in soundscape through considering from original conception and ideology of soundscape, such as the concept of soundscape, the meaning of soundscape design, the categories of soundscape researh : keynote sounds, sound signals, and soundmarks, and the primary problems and strategies in the world soundscape project(WSP) are investigated. The result shows that it is necessary to practice several ways in our housing life, that is, the recovery of our coenesthesia, development of the residential environments considering the soundscape, revitalization of community consciousness, rehabilitation of the sensibility, and identity excavation of sound culture, and it is very important to spread out a plan for integrating the following four categories of strategies : conceptual, educational, political, and social.

Soundscapes have the potential to help people experience the historical background and cultural traditions by the scenery of a local area and to be used as a cultural and tourism resource. This concept was first explained in detail by M. Schafer and has been developed as a new way of experiencing landscapes using various senses. This research studied the soundscape of Kyodong Island, the so-called "Island of Peace" and designed new cultural acoustic content for education and tourism. Kyodong Island is located right below the Northern Limit Line and the whole island is in the Civilian Controlled Area. The political and economic status of the island has been changed dynamically by the Korean War and the division of the country. These days, the island needs to realize the vision of the "Island of Peace" in a more creative way using local resources, including its "cold war landscape" and the natural scenery of the region. This research applied the concept of a soundscape to document the island, and to reproduce it in an artistic way. A workshop was conducted to learn concepts and techniques of soundscapes with a sound artist. Listening, recording, conducting interviews, and literature research was used to study the soundscape of the island. After that, this research reconstructed the soundscape of the island through a soundscape composition. The main theme of the composition story was the "Hope and Wish for the Harmony and Peace" to show the vision of the "Island of Peace". The initial sub-theme for the introduction part was "First Encounter with Kyodong Island" arranging the representative soundscape, which could be the first impression of the region. The second sub-theme was "War and Tension" using several soundscapes as a metaphor for the tragedy of the Korean War. The third sub-theme was "Everyday Life of Kyodong Island" which described the energy of the present day, after the wounds of the war have healed. The final sub-theme was "Harmony and Peace" using traditional music and keynote sounds of the region as a reminder of the peaceful past, before the war. The recording files were documented as two types of sound maps. One was a two-dimensional map to show the soundscapes from one point of view, and the other used the online application called "Sound Around You". The final artwork was displayed at an exhibition and uploaded on YouTube to be shared publicly. Through this project, we discovered the potential of soundscapes as a medium to preserve the history and local identity, as well as presenting a new vision. The artwork will be exhibited at historically and culturally meaningful places on the Island to utilize the underused places as local tourist attractions and educational resources.

The objective of this study was to understand the effects of soundscapes on forest landscape preference in the Baekdudaegan protected area. The study sites were selected in Jeombongsan and Sobaek National park selected within the Baekdudaegan. The landscape preference surveys were conducted by using landscape adjectives classified with Nature, Sound, Attractiveness, and Aesthetics. The comparative analyses examined the difference of preferences between only visual landscapes and visual landscapes with soundscapes. The research found out that soundscapes were associated with landscape characteristics, and positively correlated with the improvement in landscape preference. Thus, the research can infer that forest landscape assessment consider visual attributes as well as soundscape cues.

본 연구의 목적은 소음진동규제법을 비롯한 각종 소음진동관련 규정의 목적이나 정책의 목표에 기술된 '정온'의 의미를 명확히 하는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 사운드스케이프 사상에서 나타난 소음의 개념과 쾌적성을 고찰하고, 관련 연구자의 '정온'에 대한 정의를 검토하였다. 그 결과 '정온'은 조용함으로서 양호한 음환경 조성의 기본 요건이지만, 그것만이 절대적 의미의 정온이 아니며 high acoustic quality의 관점에서 사람들이 선호하는 소리가 포함되고 원하지 않은 소리를 마스킹할 수 있는 유쾌한 환경까지를 포함한 상대적 의미가 되어야 함을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to establish a clear-cut concept and meaning of soundscape design through an inquiry into the various literatures on the ideologies, features and domains of soundscape design. Soundscape enables us to design various relationship through a sound in that it is important for interaction, namely the relations with sound, environment and people in a region. Soundscape design is an endogenous design which is participated in a large number of people of the region, and it contains various activities such as research study, environmental preservation, creation of sound environment and sound education.

This study aims to design soundscape of a memorial space with seaside view. So far, a memorial space in seaside was mainly emphasized on the visual elements such as monumental sculptures, towers, landscape and so on. But a memorial space in seaside has particular and various sound environments comparing with other places. In that sense, there are many rooms to improve soundscape of the space by adding suitable sounds or by subtracting unsuitable sounds to a memorial space

In order to have better understanding of the concept and meaning of soundscape, it is very important to consider entirely the objectives, activities, historical development processes and accomplishments of world soundscape project leading by R. Murray Schafer. Therefore, the ultimate purpose of this study is to inquire into the concrete development processes and practical activities of the soundscape in order to correspond to Schafer's conception of a tuning of the world. The establishment of WSP is based on noise pollution, listening attitudes and noisy music. Schafer formulated 5 types of item as a target, and wrote down concrete activities to achieve the goals. Especially, he devised the conceptual, educational, political and social strategies as the practical strategies of WSP. It is obtained various products by the activities of WSP from the planning starting year in 1969 to the stagnation period in 1979. That is, there are the social survey on noise-vancouver 1969, the book of noise, Okeanos, a study of community noise by-laws in canada 1972, the music of the environment, the vancouver soundscape, european sound diary, five village soundscapes, handbook for acoustic ecology and so on. The research activities of WSP arouse inspiration in many people interested in sound. Specially, it is emphasized the importance of increasing for their social roles in order to more actively improve and create the quality of sound environment. Also, it shows us the directions on how to lead our furture sound.

This study is subjected to two linked research. First is the creation process of dance work applying noise and non-musical sounds in our daily life based on understanding the classification, perception, and factor of the sound, through Murray Schafer's concept of 'soundscape'. Second is to find the value of new type of choreography and musical effect of creation process of the dance work . According to methodological research of practice-based research, three stages which is practice, theory and evaluation were accumulated as somatic data, And the analysis was provided a basis by presenting in a figuration, form of the movement and method of specialization with reference to the paper 『space design and forming practice』(2003). As a result, the creation process was able to discover the musical effect of the sound in daily life and new method of choreography, and also find the possibilities that sound could convey the theme of the dance work, the meaning of the movement and the overall atmosphere of the work to audience. In addition, It is expected that will have been made another new creation environment by potential that music has based on concept 'soundscape'.
