Usefulness Evaluation on Elements for Visualization of Technology Intelligence Service (테크놀로지 인텔리전스 서비스의 시각화 요소 평가 -사용자 평가를 통한 효용성 분석-)

  • Visualization elements as the technology to offer information to users effectively have become more important. In this study, we evaluate the usefulness of visualization elements in InSciTe which is a technology intelligence service developed by using Semantic Web technologies and text mining technologies for establishing R&D strategy using papers and patents. We propose design which can be preferred by users and applying methods of visualization elements through the quantitative and qualitative evaluation about each types of service. As a result of evaluation, we conclude that the visualization elements in InSciTe are implemented user-friendly to improve user's cognitive intuition.

A Preliminary Investigation for Evaluation Factors of Internet GIS Sites in the Context of User-friendly Approach (사용자 친화성의 관점에서 인터넷 GIS사이트 평가기준 설정을 위한 기초 연구)

  • Internet GIS sites are currently being emersed as one of important places to acquire spatial information in stead of traditional paper map. This paper is intended to identify critical factors in evaluating internet GIS site quality. While there should be a considerable number and variety of factors associated with internet GIS site quality, this paper focuses on the site characteristics that generate visitor satisfaction. After carefully reviewing the previous literature of general website evaluation, four criteria that are critical to internet GIS site quality were identified: (1) contents (2) design (3) navigation (4) spatial analysis. An empirical study for a case study site has been conducted to confirm the validity for the four evaluation factors. A site diagnosis by the criteria provided many valuable information for Web site quality. For example, it was found that many symbols in the site made the visitors confusing and navigation interface was not very user-friendly to track required positional information due to inconsistency in terms of cartographic concept. The results indicate that the evaluation criteria may be used not only as a tool to evaluate internet GIS sites, but also as a checklist to improve the quality of a web site that is under development and requires remodelling. As a result, the research findings have established the new concept of ‘the quality assurance of the internet GIS site’, proposed as an initial aim of this paper Many of the issues unresolved in this project could be improved, based on the understanding of the four criteria suggested in this paper.

  • In this paper, the social paradigm is rapidly changing with the expansion of human consciousness, which has emerged as the development of 20th century science and the influence of cutting-edge media as the search for new forms of flower art sculptures. Is becoming. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to analyze the interaction relationship of the expression elements of environmentally friendly pressed sculptures in the space as interior materials in the space where customer service is provided. (Research method) After deriving the formative expression characteristics of environmentally friendly pressed flower sculptures, and deriving interactive analysis elements between the servicescape space and humans of the pressed flower sculptures through references, service the flower sculptures for 8 installation cases The expression patterns of the interrelationships in the space of the landscape of the landscape were analyzed. (Results) The characteristics of dynamic formation and continuity were emphasized in the environment-friendly pressed sculpture space, and the interaction that the sympathetic reaction to the natural motif element felt as a new experience in space appeared. In the future, commercial spaces can be actively experienced through natural elements, and users can experience active interactions to create differentiated spaces as spaces where humans and humans coexist.

Design and Implementation of Smart Cane for Visually Impaired People (시각 장애인을 위한 스마트케인 설계)

  • Despite the rapid development of IT technology, people with visual impairments still use simple forms of walking sticks and need more advanced walking aids. Smart Cane, which is developed based on Internet service and sensor, can provide high safety and convenience compared to existing sticks for visually impaired people by conveying peripheral information and walking situation to these visually impaired people through voice and vibration. In this paper, we propose and implement SmartKane to overcome lack of miniaturization, user friendly form, and sensing sensitivity, which have been pointed out as a problem of existing SmartKane.

  • We can discover some facts that vernacular design products with a property of volunteer culture coexist with ready-made products as an useful objects in the post-industrial society. Currently, few attempts had been made at studies of the vernacular design objects with understanding cultural context in post-industrial society, it is necessary to illuminate the relationships between the user with a role of design producer and the product viewed in culturally. In chapter 2, by examining documentary, t have been understood the definition, apprehensions, attributes linking creative use's culture with vernacular design culture, and distinctions between vernacular design and main stream design system. In chapter 3, by verifying products of everyday street and construction site, have been investigated the public characters and the differences compared with the past. In chapter 4, as a subtle example, have been analyzed design feathers and cultural characters of the products which children and infants culture generates by reflecting the socio-economic backgrounds and the culture from 60c and 70c to now according to the phases of the times. In conclusion, first, it seems quite probably that all of artificial objects exist a state of ready-made but that is not appropriate to correspond with user's whole behaviors. supplementally, it causes the phenomenon of vernacular design products. Secondly, it is reasonable to suppose that such main-stream design system and vernacular design go forward continually and crossly with coexistent relationships as high culture and sub culture. Third, three concepts: long-life design, ecology design and recycling revealed in vernacular design are useful distinguishing marks for the future design directions, moreover instant-response, fast and flexible process, three distinctions have a possibility of alternative process which can overcome the control-based process such as the systematic approach and the planning MTG in present. Finally, in children and infants culture, vernacular design products have changed the pure style products in the past into the modified techno playing products in the present. These should De a substitute product that supplyes variousness to ready-made design system and a design culture that maintains continually as a independent culture.

  • As public attention on Well-being culture increases, it is now considered to be a new trend of modern society. The purpose of this study is to publicize the necessity of design products which are advanced in quality and encourage the use of it. The researcher judged that study on design of lighting product to adopt well-being trend is in preliminary level and aims to research on the tendency of well-bing trend and lighting design which the consumer of this age is demanding. As the result of changes in modern consumption trend, design is considered to be a factor of capricious cultural phenomenon. In addition to this, as high technology such as ubiquitous develops with the degitalisation and informatization, the consumer are paying attention to dynamic products rather than static products or products which respond to external stimulus. Products which adopt well-being trend pursuing nature friendly life are particularly preferred It means that not only the basic function of products but also design which satisfy the five sense is required. Modern consumers use products in various way. However, the pro-environmental and human-centered tendency is tried only in very limited area and general study on this matter is extremely rare. This study analyzes the factors which intercepts the adoption of well-being trend to lighting products and seeks for an alternative to solve the problem. Interaction design with well-being trend was adopted to lighting design and the result presented that there is a possibility to differentiate existing lighting design by adding interaction design to the existing lighting design. Therefore, the need for further study on this matter is presented.

  • Design takes concrete form from the things which are not yet exist to the molded reality. Creation of value which is accompanied by the rational value could be possible only through the searching examination of the basic concept. All designs are under circumstances because the results and the character of the problems are different under the given conditions and circumstances which are the characteristic of the design. The aim of this study is searching for the differential design conce- pt which is the most appropriate and reasonable in the basic design process in which the phase of the analysis, synthesis and evaluation of the problem. First of all the pursuit value of the times and the change of the view point of value of the product design. How the pursuit value of times were searched and analyzed. Analyze the successful product design realization of the typical trend of the modern design which are 3-2. function-focused design, 3-3. emotion-centered design, 3-4. image communicative design through the metaphor, 3-5. environmental affinity design. On the base of the case analysis how to apply the differential design concept which is coming as a trend in the future society which are sustainable developing society was examined closely. The outcome through the analysis of the success cases are as follows, \circled1 the value of the spirit of the times should be emphasized as the design image, \circled2 environmental appropriateness should be taken into consideration as the first primary factor, \circled3 the realization of value of the fulfillment of differential consumer's needs, \circled4 lead to prolong the life cycle of the product, \circled5 promote the sustaining growth of enterprise, \circled6 user-centered product value should be the first consideration. \circled7 It is necessary to overcome the cultural andinguistic barriers and to reflect the metaphor which people remember well. \circled8 The application of human's true character should be decided beforehand. It is the commonness of values of times and customs. \circled9 The differentiated design concept which meets our mental satisfaction, not material one, will be required. In addition to this the creative and differentiated design concepts which are accompanied by the good design factor under the base of product could achieve the emotional consensus from the consumers.   • Wireless capsule endoscopy (WCE) was one of the most influential bio-medical electronic technologies to be developed at the beginning of the century. In comparison to traditional endoscopic diagnosis, this application is characterized as non-invasive and low-risk, thereby providing surgeons with a new alternative for inspecting the entire gastrointestinal (GI) track in a much more user friendly way. Apart from regular hardware upgrades, the frontier of WCE research basically lies in the miniaturization of the capsule and in active locomotion. In order to overcome the intrinsic drawback of current commercialized WCE products, which is that locomotion is generally a function of natural peristalsis, active locomotion is proposed as a series of strategies used to effectively navigate the device into different organs and conduct therapeutic functions within targeted human tissues. Reviews of several novel designs with respect to this aspect of research will be discussed in this article.

A Comparative Study on the Design Element in Traditional Palaces Korea, China and Japan (한 중 일 의장 문화 비교 연구 - 궁궐전출을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to ascertain the design element in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan. It takes threesteps to proceed this study. Firstly, it needs to be established the analysis framework from the documents. In second step, the design elements - the form, the material, the pattern and the color - should be collected and investigated through the observation of the actual traditional palaces the Changduckung, the Forbidden City, the Nijo castle. The third step is the analysis of the results of the investigation of the design elements from step two. To sum up similarities and dissimilarities among the design element in traditional palaces of Korea, China and Japan is as the following It is to be noticed that the mainly common characteristics of the artistic design are 'naturalism', 'harmonious ideas' and 'confucianism'. But the representation style of the design element is differed from the country. : The typical features of China are symmetry, glassy surface by artificial process, the meandered curve, the magnificent pattern and the constrable color. In Japan, the mathematical asymmetry, made-up rough surface by artificial skill, decorativepattern with abbreviation and achromatic color are important feature of the design element. While the major features of Korean design element are asymmetrical balance with nature, rough surface by natural process, moderate pattern and harmonious color.

  • 우리 사회에서 개인이 복용하고 있는 약물의 종류와 수가 점점 늘어나고 있다. 약물의 사용이 증가하면서 때로는 치명적일 수 있는 약물 오남용 또한 빈번히 발생하고 있으며 특히 노년층과 같이 약품을 정확하게 구별할 수 없는 사람들은 더욱더 그 위험에 노출되어있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 간단한 사진을 찍는 행위를 거치면 약물의 정보를 제공하고, 복용법을 알 수 있는 모바일 애플리케이션에 관하여 기술한다. 이를 구현하기 위하여 세밀한 시각적 분류 (Fine-Grained Visual Categorization, FGVC) 기법과 광학 문자 인식 (Optical Character Recognition, OCR) 기법을 결합한 인공지능 모델을 사용하였으며, React Native 를 사용하여 운영체제에 종속되지 않도록 애플리케이션을 제안한다. 이 애플리케이션은 노년층에 친화된 UI/UX 로 디자인되었으며, 약물의 정보 제공 이외에도 개인 약물 관리, 주변 약국 길 찾기 등의 편의 기능을 통해 노년층에 삶의 질 향상을 기대할 수 있을 것이다.
