Development and Field Installation of a System of Simultaneously Removing Dust and Volatile Organic Compounds from Furan Process in Foundry (주물공장의 Furan 공정에서 발생하는 휘발성 유기 화합물 및 분진의 동시제거 시스템 개발 및 현장설치 연구)

  • A foundry makes various machinery parts made by iron. For manufacturing machinery parts, they usually uses wooden mold with molding sand and pour the molten iron into wooden mold through inlet. A foundry have many processes including Furan process, In Furan process workers prepares a wooden mold in the molding sand. So they fixes wooden mold in sand housing and then they fill the molding sand in the sand housing. Molding sand should be sticky enough to sustain the shape of wooden mold, so several materials are needed to prepare the suitable molding sand. The first step of Furan process is making the molding sand with molding sand and Voltaic Organic Compounds (VOC) and the second step of Furan process is pour the molding sand into the wooden molding housing. This two step of process generated noxious VOC and various size of dust. So the process is very dirty and dangerous one. Because of these, Workers frequently shrink out of the plant. The company related with foundry usually faced on the difficult situation for engagement and always have shortage of hiring problem. Through this study, we developed a system which removes toxic VOC and dust simultaneously. We design and construct real system and install it at real plant. Before setting up this system, the working surroundings VOC (for formaldehyde) 15 ppm and Dust(for $PM_{10}$) $8,000{\mu}g/m^3$. After setting up this system, working surroundings is improved by VOC (for formaldehyde) 0 ppm, Dust(for $PM_{10}$) $4{\mu}g/m^3$, and the work evasion factor is removed. So we contribute to solve hiring problem of this company and increasing the productivity also.

Evaluating MRV Potentials based on Satellite Image in UN-REDD Opportunity Cost Estimation: A Case Study for Mt. Geum-gang of North Korea (UN-REDD 기회비용 산정에서 위성영상 기반의 MRV 여건평가: 금강산을 사례로)

  • The credible measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) is among the most critical elements in UN-REDD (United Nations programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation in Developing Countries). This study is intended to explore MRV potential in terms of UN-REDD opportunity cost estimation using satellite image for Mt. Geum-gang of North Korea. A visual interpretation were conducted to evaluate MRV conditions by sub-dividing or decomposing the images with different pixel size into a three types of hierarchical tree structure that helps dealing with spatial variability within each subarea. The permanent record of standard satellite remote sensing system demonstrated its capability of presenting area-wide visual evidences of MRV conditions in Mt. Geum-gang (such as the identification of forested area, degradation trends for forest space, three types of hierarchical land-cover and land use tree structure, carbon density in the landscape). Satellite data could be accepted as legally binding proof when it comes to REDD opportunity cost estimation since several cases exist where remote sensing has been used as legal evidence in ICJ (International Court of Justice) and UN resolution. It doesn't seem very difficult to comply with MRV requirements for UN-REDD opportunity cost calculation due to the probative value of satellite data. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference for Korea-based enterprises exploring REDD project sites and the carbon traders to ensure MRV potentials using satellite image in UN-REDD Opportunity Cost estimation.

  • 하천과 호수에서 남조류의 이상 과잉증식 문제(이하 녹조문제)는 담수생태계의 생물다양성을 감소시키며, 음용수의 이취미 원인물질을 발생시켜 물 이용에 장해가 된다. 또한 독소를 생산하는 유해남조류가 대량 증식할 경우에는 가축이나 인간의 건강에 치명적 해를 끼치기도 한다. 그 동안 국내에서 녹조문제는 댐 저수지와 하구호와 같은 정체수역에서 간헐적으로 문제를 일으켰으나, 4대강사업(2010-2011)으로 16개의 보가 설치된 이후 낙동강, 금강, 영산강 등 대하천에서도 광범위하게 발생되고 있어 중요한 사회적 환경적 이슈로 대두되었다. 한편, 대하천에 설치된 보 구간에서 빈번히 발생하는 녹조현상의 원인에 대해서는 전 지구적 기온상승에 따른 기후변화의 영향이라는 주장과 유역으로부터 영양염류의 과도한 유입, 가뭄에 따른 유량감소, 보 설치에 따른 체류시간 증가 등 다양한 의견이 제시되고 있으나, 대상 유역과 수체의 특성에 따라 녹조 발생의 원인이 상이하거나 또는 다양한 요인이 복합적으로 작용하기 때문에 보편적 해석(universal interpretation)이 어려운 것이 현실이다. 따라서 각 수계별, 보별 녹조현상에 대한 정확한 원인분석과 효과적인 대책 마련을 위해서는 집중된 실험자료와 데이터마이닝 기법에 근거로 한 보다 과학적이고 객관적인 접근이 이루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 2012년 보 설치 이후 남조류에 의한 녹조현상이 빈번히 발생하고 있는 낙동강 4개보(강정고령보, 달성보, 합천창녕보, 창녕함안보)를 대상으로 집중적인 현장조사와 실험분석을 수행하고, 수집된 기상, 수문, 수질, 조류 자료에 대해 통계분석과 다양한 데이터모델링 기법을 적용하여 보별 남조류 우점 환경조건과 이를 제어하기 위한 주요 조절변수를 규명하는데 있다. 연구대상 보 별 수질과 식물플랑크톤의 정성 및 정량 실험은 2017년 5월부터 2018년 11월까지 2년에 걸쳐 실시하였으며, 남조류 세포수 밀도와 환경요인과의 상관성 분석을 실시하고, 단계적 다중회귀모델(Step-wise Multiple Linear Regressions, SMLR), 랜덤포레스트(Random Forests, RF) 모델과 재귀적 변수 제거 기법(Recursive Feature Elimination using Random Forest, RFE-RF)을 이용한 변수중요도 평가, 의사결정나무(Decision Tree, DT), 주성분분석(Principal Component Analysis, PCA) 기법 등 다양한 모수적 및 비모수적 데이터마이닝 결과를 바탕으로 각 보별 남 조류 우점 환경요인을 종합적으로 해석하였다.

Geochemical Study on the Naturally Originating Fluorine Distributed in the Area of Yongyudo and Sammokdo, Incheon (인천 용유도와 삼목도 지역 내 분포하는 자연기원 불소에 대한 지구화학적 연구)

  • Geochemical study was conducted to elucidate the origin of fluorine (F) distributed in the rocks within the four areas of Yongyudo and Sammokdo, Incheon, which have been used as the source area of land reclamation for the $3^{rd}$ and $4^{th}$ stage construction sites of the Incheon International Airport. The main geology of the study area is Triassic biotite granite. Fluorine is contained at high levels in biotite granite, mylonite, and dykes (andesite and, basaltic-andesite). Furthermore, the higher concentrations of fluorine in the biotite granite can be contributed to fluorite. The results of microscopic analyses reveal that the fluorite was mostly observed as small vienlets together with quartz. This features support that fluorite was naturally formed due to the secondary process of hydrothermal fluids. In addition, fluorine was investigated to be highly enriched in a large amount of mica within the veins. In the case of mylonite, a high levels of fluorine was contributed to a large amount of sericite. The sericites contained in the mylointe, differently to those of the biotite granite, filled the micro-fractures of quartz formed as a result of mylonitization and included small cataclastic quartz grains. This indicates that fluorine was naturally enriched due to the alteration of hydrothermal fluids filling fractured zones formed by mylonitization. Consequently, the results of petrological and mineralogical study confirm that the fluorine distributed in the rocks within the Yongyudo and Sammokdo originated naturally.

The Analysis of Bus Traffic Accident to Support Safe Driving for Bus Drivers (버스운전자 안전운행지원을 위한 교통사고 분석 연구)

  • For bus drivers' safe driving, a policy that analyzes the causes of the drivers' traffic accidents and then assists their safe driving is required. Therefore, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport set up its plan to gradually expand the equipping of commercial vehicles with FCWS (Forward Collision Warning System) and LDWS(Lane Departure Warning System), from the driver-supporting ADAS(Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). However, there is not much basic research on the analysis of bus drivers' traffic accidents in Korea. As such, the time is appropriate to research what is the most necessary ADAS for bus drivers going forward to prevent bus accidents. The purpose of this research is to analyze how serious the accidents were in the different bus routes and whether the accidents were repetitive, and to give recommendations on how to support ADAS for buses, as an improvement. A model of ordered logit was used to analyze how serious the accidents were and as a result, vehicle to pedestrian accidents which directly affected individuals were statistically significant in all of the models, and violations of regulations, such as speeding, traffic signal violation and violation of safeguards for passengers, were indicated in common in several models. Therefore, the pedestrian-sensor system and automatic emergency control device for pedestrian should be installed to reduce bus accidents directly affecting persons in the future, and education for drivers and ADAS are to be offered to reduce the violations of regulations.

A Study on the Change of Slope Safety Factor according to the Anchor Construction Interval (앵커 시공 간격에 따른 비탈면 안전율 변화 연구)

  • If the safety factor does not secure the safety factor suggested in the design standard at the slope design stage, the safety factor is secured by installing an anchor. Stability analysis is used to verify the effect of reinforcing the slope of the anchor, but in this process, most of the anchor construction intervals are assumed to be equal and analyzed. For economical and effective slope reinforcement, stability analysis is required by adjusting the anchor construction interval. In this study, the effect of the anchor construction interval on the change of the safety factor of the slope was identified. Stability analysis was performed by setting a virtual slope with two berms and different anchor construction intervals. As a result of the analysis, the stability of the slope is secured when the anchor spacing of the lower surface is narrowed and the anchor gaps of the upper and middle surfaces are wider than when anchors are installed at the same intervals on the upper, middle, and lower surfaces of the slope. The result was a 15% reduction in the amount of anchors. This means that, rather than reinforcing anchors at the same intervals, it is economical and effective to have an economical and effective reinforcement effect to vary the anchor construction intervals according to the slope characteristics.

Development and application of the estimation method of flood damage in the ungauged basin using satellite data (위성자료를 활용한 미계측유역의 홍수피해액 추산기법 개발 및 적용)

  • Economic analysis is a basic step in establishing disaster mitigation measures, but it is difficult to verify the results due to uncertainty. Therefore, the scope of investigation and analysis is wide. However, it is difficult to predict the amount of damage caused by flooding because the collection of relevant data is limited in the ungauged basin. In this study, distributed runoff analysis and flooding analysis were performed, and a method of estimating the amount of flood damage in the ungauged basin was proposed using collectible social and economic indicators and flood analysis results. For distributed runoff analysis and flooding analysis, GRM (Grid based Rainfall-runoff Model) and G2D (Grid based 2-Dimensional land surface flood model) developed by Korea Institute of Civil engineering and Building Technology were used. The method of substituting collectible social and economic indicators into the simple method and improvement method was used to estimate the amount of flood damage. As a result of the study, it was possible to estimate the amount of flood damage using satellite data and social and economic indicators in the ungauged basin.

Structural Performance Evaluation of Offshore Modular Pier Connection using Ultra-high Performance Concrete (초고성능 콘크리트를 활용한 해상 모듈러 잔교 연결부의 구조성능 평가)

  • In this study, offshore modular pier system using the ultra-high performance concrete was developed for the offshore construction environment. For the application of offshore modular pier system, the design, fabrication, and construction performance evaluation were performed using ultra-high performance concrete a compressive strength 120 MPa or more and a direct tensile strength 7 MPa or more. For offshore piers previously constructed with precast concrete, it was intended to verify the idea and possibility of solving errors due to position or vertical deformation during the driving of the foundation pile part during the construction stage. Furthermore, a offshore modular pier system was fabricated with ultra-high performance concrete for the construction performance evaluation. The results showed that a offshore modular pier system secured about 9 % of sectional performance of load bearing capacity under ultimate load conditions. If the offshore modular pier system developed through this study is utilized in the future, it is judged that competitiveness due to sufficient durability and constructability can be secured.

  • The Smart City Living Lab is becoming important as a local innovation platform to develop urban solutions. In January 2018, the 4th industrial innovation committee, which was a direct subordinate from the president, empathized citizens' participation and their roles within the Smart City [Urban Innovation and Future Growth Engine-Creating Smart City Strategy]. This was the starting point of the living lab. The central government and local governments have been promoting various types of living labs to encourage citizens to participate. On the other hand, due to the lack of systematic concepts and theories for practicing and structuring living labs, the practice is not performed well. This study aimed to develop systematic approaches and implementation methods of the public-led Smart City Living Lab. The Full-cycle Smart City living Lab model was designed by integrating smart city living lab work processes, as suggested in the standards of the national land plan, double design diamond framework, which is a type of innovative design methodology, and design thinking process. The entire cycle Smart City living lab model requires four components to practice the living lab, such as framework, module, process, and methodologies. In the future, this model is expected to be incorporated in the Smart City Living Lab.

Analysis of Remote Driving Simulation Performance for Low-speed Mobile Robot under V2N Network Delay Environment (V2N 네트워크 지연 환경에서 저속 이동 로봇 원격주행 모의실험을 통한 성능 분석)

  • Recently, cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) testbeds have been deployed in great numbers, and advanced autonomous driving research using V2X communication technology has been conducted actively worldwide. In particular, the broadcasting services in their beginning days, giving warning messages, basic safety messages, traffic information, etc., gradually developed into advanced network services, such as platooning, remote driving, and sensor sharing, that need to perform real-time. In addition, technologies improving these advanced network services' throughput and latency are being developed on many fronts to support these services. Notably, this research analyzed the network latency requirements of the advanced network services to develop a remote driving service for the droid type low-speed robot based on the 3GPP C-V2X communication technology. Subsequently, this remote driving service's performance was evaluated using system modeling (that included the operator behavior) and simulation. This evaluation showed that a respective core and access network latency of less than 30 ms was required to meet more than 90 % of the remote driving service's performance requirements under the given test conditions.
