This thesis has a research focus in effectively Practicing cooperative instruction where teacher-librarians play a role. The cooperative Instruction means to practice cooperatively with the subject teachers and teacher-librarians, in teaching subject matters(Korean, English, Social studies. Science, History, and so forth), using the school library. This thesis presents three steps by theory-model-support for a practice method through developing a cooperative instruction model. This is based on curriculum which is an axis of school education and an instructional design theory which is a base theory for subject matters.

In this study, collaboration of teacher librarians and subject teachers in school libraries has been investigated(tried, attempted, suggested) in order to improve the information literacy. The effective teaching-learning can be conducted by extending student's roles, which are essential elements in school education. Above all, the model. focused on direct exchange of knowledges in communications between teachers and students has been suggested with consideration of content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, and technological knowledge.

This study is to present cooperative instructional concept framework for the library-based instruction of teacher-librarians, based on 'Information and the Library' curriculum and instructional design procedure. The development of cooperative instructional units has been initiated in the school libraries, but the research based on instructional theories, including instructional design, is lacking. In this aspect, instructional theories and methodologies for the cooperative instruction of teacher-librarians are important. The cooperative instructional units for teacher-librarians should be developed by 'Information and the Library' curriculum and instructional design procedures. The objectives of the curriculum emphasize information use process based on information task. This study is to present cooperative instructional concept framework, and to help teacher-librarians develop specific cooperative instructional units based on the framework.

Collaboration between teacher librarians and parents is one of the very important elements for school library management in characteristics of learning communities and expanding its' administration. These partnerships are necessary to relieve stress and risk conditions and improve ego-resilience of students. This study analyzed cases of student guidance within the partnerships between teacher librarians and parents and then inquired into formal or informal communication channels for their partnerships through written interview with 10 teacher librarians. The results of analyses teacher librarians have appreciated the necessity of collaboration with parents, and they have experienced student guidance, career guidance, reader's advisory and balancing acts between classroom teachers and parents. It turns out that reading programs with parents are formal communication channel rather than institutional committee such as School Library Council and Parents' Library-Assisting Volunteers and Parent Association and Training in the school library are informal communication channels. The teacher librarians also provide periodic reading events and training for parents and they utilize the School Homepage and Educational Newsletters as the main ways of public relation. In order to promote students' ego-resilience through their collaboration, parents should involve in School Library Council as an essential way for formal communication. And parents' role in school library management should be expanded from offering helping hands to activities to read book, library instruction, assisting teacher librarians in the Library-Assisted Instruction and production of teaching mediums.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of teacher librarians' efficacy and to propose some ways to enhance their efficacy. To do this, questionnaires on 30 teacher librarians who participated in the level 1 certification program of K university in 2018 were conducted. The results showed that their average efficacy was 3.38, the efficacy of teaching method was 3.60, the collective efficacy was 3.38, and the personal efficacy was 3.18. They had high personal efficacy on classroom management, the willingness to lead poor students and the possibility of problem student guidance, and collective efficacy on conflict management with fellow teachers and parents. On the other hand, personal efficacy in problem analysis and guidance for problem students, difficult contents and course instruction were low. Also, the collective efficacy of the conflict between the manager and the education office was low. They have a strong willingness to improve teaching methods for students and showed high efficacy about student synchronization and preparation for teaching. However, they were aware of the lack of learning skills and the lack of various teaching methods. The variables influencing their efficacy were graduation, education level, school size, and degree. Especially, the higher the education level, the more confident and enthusiastic about teaching problemmatic students and disadvantaged students. In addition, teacher librarians with high academic standards showed high confidence in conflict resolution with peers and parents and teaching methods. The improvement direction to enhance their efficacy in this study are increasing the ratio of teacher education in the field of education, reforming teacher librarians training before appointment, establishing supervision organizations for school libraries and improving their professionalism by going to graduate school.

The purpose of this study is to survey the reference information service participation to school library human resources, to compare the independent variables with reference information service participation, and to discern what the important impacts on the differences of reference information service participation are. The 254 questionaries used were collected from December 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 to the 327 school library employees. In this study, it is proved that there are differences between the Reference Information Service Participation of school library human resources and independent variables: gender, the level of school library, length of service, employment style. Tips for the reference information service participation of school library human resources were provided based on inadequacies and other findings revealed through this study.

Dyslexia is an obstacle for reading that should be found and treated in the early stage. Although dyslexia is not a common symptom appeared many people, they are alienated group which the government should pay attention and support. Yet the government of the Republic of Korea has low awareness and interests on dyslexia. This study aims to survey on measuring the awareness of parents, elementary school teachers, kindergarten teachers, and school librarians, who should sensitively distinguish dyslexia among children in its full-swing time, and to find their perception gaps. In order to gain result, this study conducted questionnaire survey targeting parents, elementary school teachers, kindergarten teachers, and school librarians resided in metropolis, small and medium sized cities, and farming and fishing village, with the total number of 623 people, and analyzed their answers using SPSS 20.0 program. The research shows that awareness on dyslexia depends on their jobs, residence, gender, knowledge on dyslexia, and experience in encountering a person in dyslexia.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of organizational communication satisfaction of teacher librarians on the informational and educational service and to draw implications for improvement of the school libraries' educational role. According to the results of the analysis, teacher librarians have preferred informal communication by conversation and face-to-face talk with superiors or co-workers and horizontal communication during their performance. Characteristics of teacher librarians, such as career, gender and school levels, have influential effect on user education, libraryassisted instruction, reading and information literacy instruction. The more teacher librarians felt satisfaction of the informal communication, the more textbook-related reference lists are offered. Horizontal communication have a positive influence on information literacy instruction. However, teacher librarians should utilize cooperative statements, committees and councils and actively participate in those horizontal communication methods to share the vision and aims of school libraries with the larger school community. Teacher librarians also should put more efforts into developing their leadership role and marketing strategies in order to overcome the weaknesses of informal communication.

This study analyzes the performance of school library rehabilitation project for the past four years. The project was launched in 2002 as a 5-year project from 2003 to 2007. Based on the analysis, the author suggests some considerations for the second phase of the project. First, librarians are the focal point to manage the library newly built and remodeled at a massive budget of 300 billion Korean won. Second, when developing curriculum employing school libraries, the curriculum should be differentiated by grade. class, textbook and even chapter. Third. the project should demonstrate the positive influence of school libraries on students' academic achievement so that the parents and community leaders voluntarily promote school libraries. Forth, the project should examine diverse users to successfully meet their demand. Fifth, the project should incorporate capacity building in librarian training course. It is also crucial that librarians themselves make visible effort to achieve an expert status before students and fellow teachers.
