Established Studies & Future Subjects in the Objectification of Sasang Constitutional Medicine (사상의학 객관화의 연구성과와 향후방향)

  • Through the survey of related studies for last ten years, it was known that accurate sample data of sasang constitution are the most important condition in sceintific research of sasang constitutional medicine. So we can propose three step for scientific sasang constitution medicine: firstly, the construction of SCIM(Sasang Constitutional Information Bank); secondly, the development of instruments for constitution diagnosis; thirdly, the new diagnosis methods based on the organic definition of sasang constitution.

The study of Data Factors for SCIB(Sasang Constitution Information Bank) (사상체질정보은행 데이터 항목에 관한 연구)

Objectives In this study, we analysed the up-to-the-present data in the SCIB and the chart of Iksan Wonkwang Oriental Medical Clinic, to develop the system and factors of data for the SCIB(Sasang constitution Information Bank). 2. Methods SCIB data is composed of analyses about the QSCC II(Questionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II), Cold-hot questionaire, Ban-chi constitution questionnaire, Body composition, Body measurement, 24-hour food intake & Activity examination, MBTI & MMTIC, Informed consent & Blood sampling, and data presented by committee of Sasang constitution diagnosis expert. And the chart data of Iksan Wonkwang Oriental Medical Clinic is composed of analyses about Inspection, Ausculfation and olfaction, Inquiry, Pulse feeling and palpitation, and treatment field. 3. Results and Conclusions Almost data in the SCIB are lack of regular forms because they are based on mainly the QSCC II and additionally other examinations. Conclusionly important matters of the SCIB data are as follows: (1) the standard form including 4 whole diagnostic factors (2) the standard form including symptoms, pattern identifications, treatment processes and treatment results (3) objectivity and practicality to collect data.

An Overview on the Construction of Korea Constitutional Multicenter Bank for Sasang Constitutional Medicine (체질정보은행 구축현황에 관한 소고)

  • 1. Objectives : The aim of the present study was to describe the Korea Constitutional Multicenter Bank (KCMB), which was various clinical data bank for scientific advancement of constitutional diagnosis and treatment. 2. Methods and Results : The KCMB is based on the 28 multi-institute cooperative clinical research networks including domestic and international institute. Since the KCMB was founded in 2006, data have been accumulated from 10,412 subjects. The KCMB consists of three parts: The clinical constitutional data, the measurement data, and the biological data. The method of data entry is via web based electronic Case Report From (eCRF). The eCRF has been developed and programed to ensure the efficient entry of data. We also developed coding manual, ongoing quality control assessment to obtain high-quality data. 3. Conclusions : The KCMB with various data contribute to providing the scientification of Sasang Constitutional Medicine.

Development of Korean Medicine Data Center(KDC) Teaching Dataset to Enhance Utilization of KDC (한의임상정보은행 활용도 제고를 위한 교육용 데이터 개발)

  • Objective Korean medicine Data Center (KDC) has established large-scale biological and clinical data based on Korean medicine to demonstrate and validate its theory. The aim of this study was to develop KDC teaching dataset and user guideline to improve utilization of the KDC. Method KDC teaching dataset were selected using stratified random sampling according to the Sasang constitution (SC). This dataset included 72 variables of 500 sample subjects. The user guideline described how to conducted eight statistical analysis methods using the teaching dataset. Results The KDC teaching dataset was sampled from 200(40%) Taeeumin, 125(25%) Soeumin, and 175(35%) Soyanain. It was consisted of questionnaire (basic, habit, disease, symptom), physical exam (body measurement, blood pressure), blood exam, and expert' SC diagnosis. The usage guidelines provided instruction for users to perform several statistical analysis step by step with KDC teaching dataset. Conclusion We hope that our results will contribute to enhancing KDC utilization and understanding.
