A Life History Study on Aged Women Living Alone Who Receive the National Basic Livelihood Security Program (국민기초생활수급 여성독거노인의 생애사 연구: 사회적 배제와 행위주체성(agency)을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the life of single aged women receiving minimum living expenses. In order to accomplish desired result, I focus on social exclusion and Resisting women agent. So it provides them practical implication. This study approach life history study of qualitative study. Date were collected from four single aged women. Raw date were analyzed by Mendelbaum analysis frame offering dimension, turnings and adaptation. In research findings, their life was 'Begining of wandering' in childhood and then 'Floating life' since their marriage. After breaking up their husbands, They intend to do 'Existential life'. According to these results, I suggest the necessity of strengthening their own ability and taking the life of human nature.

Effects of Death Education Program on Family Caregivers of Disabled Individuals (장애우 가족에게 적용한 죽음준비 교육의 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Death Education Program which had been provided to family caregivers of disabled individuals. A single group pretest-posttest design was employed for this study, which was conducted at a community rehabilitation center located in Ulsan, South Korea. Methods: Death Education Program was conducted for 16 family caregivers of disabled individuals who agreed to participate in this study. A 2.5-hour session was conducted once a week for 10 weeks. To investigate the effects of the education program, structured questionnaires, which assessed the patients and their family member's conceptions on the meaning of life, and their resilience, burden, and attitude towards death, were administered before and after the program. Results: The subjects' conception of the meaning of life and resilience did not significantly change. The median scores for the burden of family caregivers declined, while those for the subjects' attitude towards death increased, after attending the education program. Conclusion: The findings showed that Death Education Program has an affirmative effect on the burden of family caregivers of disabled individuals and their attitude towards death.

Research Trends on Human Development and Family Studies in Journal of Korean Home Economic Education; A Review and Prospect of Research during the past 20 years (한국가정과교육학회지의 "인간발달.가족" 분야에 대한 20년 연구 동향분석; 성과와 과제)

  • The purpose of the study is to review the research trends of human development and family studies which published in the Journal of the Korean Home Economics Education for last 20 years. A total of 93 studies were analyzed in the area of nature and philosophy of Home Economic Education, curriculum, teaching-learning method and human development and family studies. Research topics mainly examined in the area of curriculum development, application of teaching methods, psychological and school adjustment of the adolescent and family relations. Reviews in methodological issues result in the heavy usage of survey method with self-administered questionnaires, convenient sampling and descriptive studies. Although research on human development and family studies in Home Economic Education has increased in quantity, there are greater needs to develop studios with representative subjects, various research methods, teaching - learning methods, and teaching materials to capture the rich complexity of individual development and family life. Limitations on previous studios and implications for future studies were also discussed.

  • The emergence of new communication media, digital, is something of a wonder, as well as a cultural tension. The industrial technologies that dramatically expand human abilities are being developed much faster than the speed of adaptation by humans. Without an exception, it creates new contents and form of the culture by shaking the very foundation of the notion about human beings. Korean broadcasting environment has stepped into the era of multi-media, multi-channel as the digital technology separated the media into network, cable, satellite and internet. In this digital culture, broadcasting, as a medium of information delivering and communication, has bigger influence than ever. Such changes in broadcasting environment turned the TV viewers into new consumers who participate and play the main role in active communication by choosing and using the media. This study is trying to systemize the question about the core identity of broadcasting through brand as the consumers stand in the center of broadcasting with the power to select channel. The story schema theory can be applied as a cognitive psychological tool to approach the active consumers in order to explain the cognitive processes that are related to information processing. It is a design with stories, which comes up as a case of a brand's story telling. The range of this study covers the current issue and educational programs in network TV during the period of May and August of year 2005. The cases of Korean and foreign programs were compared by the station each program is broadcasted. This study concludes that it is important to take the channel identity into the consideration in the brand strategy of each program. Especially, the leading programs of a station must not be treated as a separate program that has nothing to do with the station's identity. They must be treated to include the contents and form that builds the identity of the channel. Also, this study reconfirmed that building a brand of the anchor person can play as an important factor in the identity of the program's brand.
