  • Since the end devices of the Internet of Things (IoT) are battery operated products, careful consideration for ultra-low power (ULP) is required. The Micro Controller Unit (MCU) industry has developed very effective functions to save energy, but developers have difficulty in selecting the MCU because various operating modes are applied to reduce energy consumption by manufacturers. Therefore, this paper introduces ULPMark benchmark, a standardized benchmark method that can compare MCUs of various vendors and feature sets, and provides hardware functions for ultra-low-power operation of the two platforms that received the high evaluation scores from ULPMark. In addition, we investigated and analyzed how developers can utilize the functions for ultra low power consumption through driver APIs and detailed register control.

  • With the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) services, the interest of smart building management system is rapidly increased. However, existing smart building management system has some limitations such as single point of failure, scalability, processing delay by using the centralized service platform server. To overcome these limitations, in this paper, the distributed server based smart building management scheme is proposed. In the proposed scheme, it is possible to provide fast and efficient IoT services, regardless of the scale of smart building, by using the distributed server of each floor. From the numerical analysis, it is shown that the proposed scheme provides better performance than the existing centralized scheme in terms of stability of database and service processing delay.

  • Recently, many IoT(internet of things) products are emerging on the market and information technology companies are competing on the areas of internet of things standardization and platforms. This paper introduces many researches, standardizations, platforms on internet of things. Because of that, as the interest in this area out focused, many kinds of technology and new service are being exploited in this field. Therefore, we conducted a review research based on the internet of things. Also, this study was targeted a total of 34 research papers that are setting up the related internet of things among the research papers published in domestic academic journals since 2010. In this review, the studies related internet of things showed that the most is studied between 2014 and 2015. This study suggests practical and theoretical implications based on the results.

  • Today our society is approaching new intelligence information society, which has been caused by the Fourth Industrial Revolution along with the development of information and communication technology(ICT). And this has just opened a new era of Internet of Things(IoT) that connects between human and objects and between objects through network, allowing transmission and reception of information beyond the limits of space. However, many crises occurred in the existing communication environment may threaten the security of Internet of Things, by violating the three components of information security. In this paper, this study aims to analyze security technology to achieve advanced security by dividing IoT security technology for coping with security vulnerability found in different components into three groups.

  • This study aims to develop a sort of expert system to simulate Internet of Things (IoT) service in architectural design alternatives and enhance the simulation performance using building information. The proposed protype system, named iotBIM, visualizes human behaviors and IoT services in a virtual place that is automatically generated from among design alternatives. We use commercial building information modeling (BIM) authoring tool for the development of iotBIM. The decision to develop iotBIM on the BIM platform was made because BIM tools already generate precise 3D models of design alternatives; iotBIM is plugged into the BIM tool as a simulation module. In the midst of the design process, architectural designers can activate iotBIM to investigate and establish IoT services that accord visually with design alternatives. The purpose of this study is to provide a theoretical and technological basis for the ultimate goal of this study.

  • The objective of this research is to improve the efficiency of data collection from many machine components on smart factory floors using IoT(Internet of things) techniques and cloud platform, and to make it easy to update outdated diagnostic schemes through online deployment methods from cloud resources. The short-term analysis is implemented by a micro-controller, and it includes machine-learning algorithms for inferring snapshot information of the machine components. For long-term analysis, time-series and high-dimension data are used for root cause analysis by combining a cloud platform and multivariate analysis techniques. The diagnostic results are visualized in a web-based display dashboard for an unconstrained user access. The implementation is demonstrated to identify its performance in data acquisition and analysis for rotating machinery.
