Slope stability is affected by duration of precipitation, probable rainfall intensity, unsaturated soil property, and soil strength. The recent analyses of slope stability tend to include unsaturated analysis based on infiltration properties of soil, while researches of unsaturated soil slope tend to include the analysis of deformation and stress distribution of soil over time. However, infiltration property of unsaturated soil slope depends not only on intensity or duration of precipitation, but also on relief and surface condition, which is not considered in status quo. This research uses hydrologic model parameters of soil in order to consider effects of inclination on filtration, and carries out analysis of unsaturated soil slope to confirm the effects according to slope inclination and surface condition. In conclusion, using slope stability analysis, the need to consider infiltration rate according to inclination and surface condition was confirmed even under the same precipitation conditions.

Laboratory tests of wave overtopping rates for a rubble mound breakwaters armoured Tetrapod were carried out, with varying design waves, crest berm widths and crest freeboards. The objective of this study is to investigate overtopping performance and to examine the characteristics of the widely used overtopping prediction models through the results of laboratory tests. Laboratory tests show that structure slope and wave periods have a considerable influence on overtopping rates, but the difference of overtopping rates related to crest berm widths is slight. Owen(1980)'s prediction considerably overestimates compared to the measured valued. Prediction of Van der Meer et al.(1998) underestimates only for steep slope($cot{\alpha}$=1.5). Besley(1999)'s and Pedersen(1996)'s predictions have a relatively good agreement with the measured results for slopes with a broader crest berm width. In general, best agreement between measured and predicted overtopping rates is observed using modified Pedersen(1996)'s formula for all test conditions.

In this study, an artificial neural network was used to predict stability of weak rock slopes with various discontinuities and underground water conditions. Input data were provided by UDEC analyses on 108 cases of representative conditions of different slope heights, angles, discontinuity angles and water levels. The verification shows high correlation $(r^2-=0.97)$ between analyses and predictions. The program was able to predict safety factors with the same accuracy from unlearned data sets.
The safety factor of an infinite slope tends to be analyzed as lower when the effects of root cohesion are not considered into the equation. Thus, it is essential to consider regional characteristics such as root cohesion and crown density in order to obtain a reasonable safety factor value. In this study, The safety factor of the landslide model, both before and after considering crown density and root cohesion, was calculated and a comparative analysis was carried out. The safety factor is increased by the effect of roots cohesion of the analysis results, the amount of increase in safety factor along the inclination of the slope angle has been analyzed with various things, the effect of reinforcing the roots cohesion, slope of the lower angle it was found that the higher the safety factor increase.
A behavior of ridge-cut rock slope had been monitored by installing inclinometers and regional slope movement toward rear side of cut face was detected. To delineate the governing factors of slope behavior, especially backward slip of ridge-cut slope, petrographic characteristics of rock cores obtained from four drilled boreholes had been examined. BIPS images inside boreholes had been acquired and structural characteristics of slope rock had been studied. Mechanical properties of discontinuity planes distributed in the drilled core had been measured and the shear strength of coal seam imbedded-discontinuity planes also had been obtained by performing the direct shear test. Monitoring results of slope behavior had been analyzed by comprehensibly considering both the mechanical and structural characteristics of slope rock and coal seam-imbedded discontinuity planes, and the potential governance of coal seam and clay minerals embedded in the joint plane on the regional slope behavior has been also identified.
Shear strength parameters obtained from field tests are important factors in the analysis of slope stability. In this paper, sensitivity analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of input parameters on the analysis of slope stability. The input parameters selected for sensitivity analysis were slope angle, cohesion, and friction angle. Monte-Carlo Simulation method was to estimate input parameters for sensitivity analysis in slope stability, and the limit equilibrium method was used to calculate the factor of safety of slope stability. A rock slope, failed in the field, was used for the sensitivity analysis of input parameters in the analysis of slope stability. The result of analysis shows that the factor of safety of the rock slope was a little low. From partial correlation coefficient (PCC) of input parameters from the sensitivity analysis, slope stability was dependant mainly on cohesion and slope angle. The effect of friction angle was smaller than those of cohesion and slope angle on slope stability.
The factors influencing landslide occurrence were analyzed for six points on the upper slope and the 24 points on the lower slope along a forest road around Sangsan village in Chungju, Korea, where landslides have occurred due to heavy rainfall. In terms of physico-mechanical properties of the soil layer, the lower slope seemed to loosen owing to the higher porosity, lower unit weight, and lower friction angle compared with the upper slope. With respect to topographic characteristics, the lower slope had thicker regolith, more concave profile and plan curvatures, lower slope angles, and higher topographic wetness index values than the upper slope. Therefore, all the properties (except for the slope angle) appear to make the lower slope of the forest road more vulnerable to landslides than the upper slope. Apart from the physico-mechanical and topographic characteristics, inadequate maintenance and management of drainage facilities are also considered as further major factors influencing landslide occurrence.
This study was carried out to analyze the vegetation properties, soil characteristics and ordination of Hemerocallis hongdoensis population in South Korea. The Hemerocallis hongdoensis population was classified into Mallotus japonicus dominant population, Viburnum wrightii dominant population, Melampyrum setaceum dominant population. Hemerocallis hongdoensis were mainly distributed along the coast of south-western iland of the Korean penninsula and it's population was located at an elevation of 6m to 362m. In the study sites, soil organic matter, total nitrogen, exchangeable potassium, exchangeable calcium, exchangeable magnesium, cation exchange capacity and soil pH were 16.18~21.70%, 0.56~0.97%, 0.42~0.88mg/kg, $3.38{\sim}5.65cmol^+/kg$, $1.12{\sim}2.38cmol^+/kg$, $25.93{\sim}41.45cmol^+/kg$, and 4.45~4.86 respectively. Mallotus japonicus dominant population was found in the steep sloped area that has high percentage of cation exchange capacity and total nitrogen than other populations. Viburnum wrightii dominant population was found gentle sloped area that has low percentage of cation exchange capacity and total nitrogen. Melampyrum setaceum dominant population was found in the medium sloped area that has medium percentage of cation exchange capacity and total nitrogen. Current status of Hemerocallis hongdoensis habitats is very vulnerable with local development constantly threatening the species' survival. Thus, concrete conservation plans to protect natural habitats should be set up as soon as possible.

Landslides are major natural geological hazards that cause enormous property damage and human casualties annually. The vulnerability of mountainous areas to landslides is further exacerbated by the impacts of climate change. Soil depth is a crucial parameter in landslide and debris flow analysis, and plays an important role in the evaluation of watershed hydrological processes that affect slope stability. An accurate method of estimating soil depth is to directly investigate the soil strata in the field. However, this requires significant amounts of time and money; thus, numerous models for predicting soil depth have been proposed. However, they still have limitations in terms of practicality and accuracy. In this study, 71 seismic survey results were collected from domestic mountainous areas to estimate soil depth on hill slopes. Soil depth was estimated on the basis of a shear wave velocity of 700 m/s, and a database was established for slope angle, elevation, and soil depth. Consequently, the statistical characteristics of soil depth were analyzed, and the correlations between slope angle and soil depth, and between elevation and soil depth were investigated. Moreover, various soil depth prediction models based on slope angle were investigated, and corrected linear and exponential soil depth prediction models were proposed.
The purpose of this study is to analyze landform characteristics and geomorphic processes in Dokdo seamount. For geomorphic analysis, bathymetry data were collected by multi-beam echosounder and the seismic survey was also conducted. Through the detailed analysis of depth, slope, aspect and erosional landform, Dokdo Seamount is characterized by a flat or gently sloping top of $2^{\circ}$ or less and seamount slope with $14{\sim}40^{\circ}$ gradient. There are protrusion of landform around the Dokdo on top of the Dokdo seamount. It is inferred that the features are formed by collapsed debris deposits or remained bedrocks by differential erosion in the past. The massmovement topography including slump and slide is shown on seamount slope with $14{\sim}40^{\circ}$ gradient. In addition, gullies with various length are developed on the Dokdo seamount slope. Slope erosional processes occur more actively along the submarine gullies on the Dokdo seamount. It is inferred that the massmovement processes on the slope of Dokdo seamount are related to earthquake activities and evolution of submarine volcano. Consequently, slope of the Dokdo seamount has retreated by erosional processes of mass-movement and submarine gullies.
