The Study on Design and Implementation of Cloud-based Education System: Introducing Hang-Out Education System (클라우드 기반 학습 시스템의 설계 및 구현에 관한 연구: 행아웃 학습시스템 도입사례를 중심으로)

  • The Many universities and educational institutions have focused on shifting education paradigm into smart learning using high-tech devices and internet as the level of technology has growing rapidly in every society. Especially, cyber universities and open universities in Korea are trying to develop educational network system and infrastructure corresponding to new convergence technology environment. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to introduce clouded based education system in order to suggest an effective way of using new educational learning system. This study shows the case of Hangout learning system used in K University in Korea to suggest a new educational learning model for real-time lecture and cloud based service platform for improving educational learning environment.

  • Along the information technology progresses, the demand for the educational application increases which derives the need for cyber education. Cyber education should take the knowledge construction model rather than the knowledge delivery model. For the educational paradigm shift by cyber education, 'Project-Based Learning' and 'Cyber Learning Community' need to be adopted. In this study, project-based cyber learning community for teacher education is developed with 5 major categories: Home(community vision, general information, project list, Q&A), project learning center(preparation for the instructional activities, group-based learning activities, presentations), meeting plaza(request for group mentoring, sharing ideas, meeting specialist, survey participating, forum participating, result presentation), references(cases of project studies, materials for project studies, materials for teacher education, general materials), management(project management, project cases, idea bank, finding partners, dialog with instructors, sharing references, sharing experiences, survey, forum).

  • This study analyzes the competency model of the Learning Factory at TU Darmstadt, Germany, aiming to derive implications for developing competency-based curricula in South Korean universities. It proposes an integrated model that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, allowing for the transformation of existing knowledge into necessary competencies for task execution. Additionally, it advocates for a learner-centered approach that enhances active engagement in the learning process, empowering students to take charge of their education. By implementing this integrated and learner-centered model, students can develop the transformative competencies required for future societal demands. This approach is expected to act as a catalyst for advancing competency-based education within South Korea's higher education system, ultimately fostering a more effective and responsive educational environment.

Effects of Case-based Small Group Learning on Daycare Center Teachers' Coping Ability in Emergency Situations: Focus on Daily Life and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (보육교사를 위한 응급상황 대처 사례기반 소그룹 학습의 효과: 일상생활 응급상황과 심폐소생술 중심으로)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the effects of case-based learning on the coping ability of daycare center teachers in emergency situations. In the study knowledge of emergency treatment methods, attitude, intention and ability to perform CPR between were examined in an experimental group (daycare center teachers who participated in the small groups discussing case studies and comparing them with their own experience) and a control group. Methods: The study was designed using a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Sixty-four teachers were recruited from 40 child daycare centers in S city located in J province. Thirty-three teachers were assigned to experimental group and participated in the case-based small group learning. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program to perform ${\chi}^2$-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and t-test. Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher posttest scores in knowledge, attitude, intention, and performance ability than those of the control group. Conclusion: The study results indicate that case-based small group learning on coping ability in emergency situation is effective in increasing knowledge, attitude, intention, and performance ability for daycare center teachers.

A Case based Multiplex Teaching and Learning Model to Improve the Educational Level of Information and Communication Ethics in Elementary School (초등 정보통신 윤리수준 개선을 위한 사례 기반 다중형 교수학습모형)

  • Information and communication environment includes a lot of dangerous factors to elementary school children who do not establish their own value sense as well as its related knowledge yet. This paper proposes a case based multiplex teaching and learning model which leads students to participate and be interested in, then to improve the educational level of information and communication ethics in elementary school. This model progresses in centric of the conflict situations in information and communication ethics that can be commonly occurred in actual life. To adapt case based approach, three types of teaching and learning models, value conflict, value clarification, and role playing, are applied in a combined form. Along with applying the models, their educational effects have been compared and analysed in time sequence, in the educational level improvement point of view. The verification has been conducted by using surveys and questionnaires, in the four areas; cognitive, affective, behavioral, and then overall. The verification results show that the proposed method is effective to improve the educational level of information and communication ethics in elementary schooll.

Estimating Farmland Prices Using Distance Metrics and an Ensemble Technique (거리척도와 앙상블 기법을 활용한 지가 추정)

  • This study estimated land prices using instance-based learning. A k-nearest neighbor method was utilized among various instance-based learning methods, and the 10 distance metrics including Euclidean distance were calculated in k-nearest neighbor estimation. One distance metric prediction which shows the best predictive performance would be normally chosen as final estimate out of 10 distance metric predictions. In contrast to this practice, an ensemble technique which combines multiple predictions to obtain better performance was applied in this study. We applied the gradient boosting algorithm, a sort of residual-fitting model to our data in ensemble combining. Sales price data of farm lands in Haenam-gun, Jeolla Province were used to demonstrate advantages of instance-based learning as well as an ensemble technique. The result showed that the ensemble prediction was more accurate than previous 10 distance metric predictions.

Feature Selection for Case-Based Reasoning using the Order of Selection and Elimination Effects of Individual Features (개별 속성의 선택 및 제거효과 순위를 이용한 사례기반 추론의 속성 선정)

  • A CBR(Case-Based Reasoning) system solves the new problems by adapting the solutions that were used to solve the old problems. Past cases are retained in the case base, each in a specific form that is determined by features. Features are selected for the purpose of representing the case in the best way. Similar cases are retrieved by comparing the feature values and calculating the similarity scores. Therefore, the performance of CBR depends on the selected feature subsets. In this research, we measured the Selection Effect and the Elimination Effect of each feature. The Selection Effect is measured by performing the CBR with only one feature, and the Elimination Effect is measured by performing the CBR without only one feature. Based on these measurements, the feature subsets are selected. The resulting CBR showed better performance in terms of accuracy and efficiency than the CBR with all features.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm meaning for quest-based learning designed as one of learning methods with new media, which the contents were made of QR code based on smart-phone. For this purpose, this study conducted 8 times of class during one month with 32 elementary third graders. And analysis for the result of this study was carried out MANOVA focus on four sub-factor of motivation. The results showed positive effect for quest-based learning in attention and confidence factor on motivation. Quest-based learning of gaming version as a learning method using various media can use a learning method for facilitation of learner participation, supporting of learning by doing.

  • DELVAUX is a genetics-based inductive learning system that learns a rule-set, which consists of Bayesian classification rules, from sets of examples for classification tasks. One problem that DELVAUX faces in the rule-set learning process is that, occasionally, the learning process ends with a local optimum without finding the best rule-set. Another problem is that, occasionally, the learning process ends with a rule-set that performs well for the training examples but not for the unknown testing examples. This paper describes efforts to alleviate these two problems centering on the N-version learning approach, in which multiple rule-sets are learning and a classification system is constructed with those learned rule-sets to improve the overall performance of a classification system. For the implementation of the N-version learning approach, we propose a decision-making scheme that can draw a decision using multiple rule-sets and a genetic algorithm approach to find a good combination of rule-sets from a set of learned rule-sets. We also present empirical results that evaluate the effect of the N-version learning approach in the DELVAUX learning environment.

  • 본 연구는 e러닝 환경에서 웹 기반 학습자간 상호작용 학습증진을 위한 스터디 그룹 활동지원시스템 개발을 위한 실질적 사례를 제시하는 데 있다. e러닝 환경 웹 기반학습의 단점을 보완하기 위하여 함께 학습이 가능하도록 제안되었고, 학습자들간의 상호작용을 증진시킬 수 있는 자료실 정보교환, 화상토론, 동영상강좌 동시 시청 가능도 설계되었다. 대학생 254명 대상 49개 그룹으로 학습자간의 상호작용을 통한 학습만족도를 조사하고 그 결과를 분석 해보았다. 또한 협동학습을 통한 스터디 그룹 활동은 개인별 상호작용 활동지수로 나타내어 학습만족도와의 상관관계를 증가시킬 수 있는 하나의 온라인 학습 커뮤니티 모형을 제시함으로서 e러닝 사이트나 학습 시스템을 설자하고 구현하는데 참고가 될 수 있으리라 기대한다.
