Difference of Sagunja Temperament type on Communication Ability and Interpersonal Relations Ability of University Students (대학생의 사군자 기질에 따른 의사소통 능력과 대인관계 능력 차이)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference between communication ability and interpersonal relationship ability according to the types of Sagunja Temperament. As a result of studying 350 university students in Busan, the first, Temperament type was chrysanthemum, orchid, plum, and bamboo temperament. Second, as a result of analyzing the differences in communication abilities by types of the Sagunja Temperament, there was the highest communication ability of bamboo substrate, and there were significant differences in plum, orchid, and chrysanthemum. The ability of interpersonal relationship according to the types of the Sagunja Temperament showed significant difference in 'first relationship', 'claiming other people's displeasure', 'emotional support and advice' excluding self-exposure and interpersonal conflict handling. Third, there was a significant correlation between communication ability and interpersonal relationship ability. In conclusion, this study proved that the difference of communication ability and interpersonal relationship ability difference according to the types of the Sagunja Temperament is statistically significant, and the significance of this study can be found that tried to reinterpret our tradition in various aspects by applying the Sagunja Temperament that matches the Korean emotion.

Nematicidal Efficacy of Herbal Extracts against Meloidogyne hapla (당근뿌리혹선충에 대한 식물추출물의 살선충 효과)

  • The nematicidal and egg haching inhibitory effects of extracts from 30 herbal plants (total 32 samples) against Meloidogyne hapla J2 juveniles and eggs was tested using the dipping method. At 1,000 ppm, extracts of Daphne genkwa flower buds, Eugenia caryophyllata flowers, Quisqualis indica fruits, and Zingiber officinale rhizomes produced > 80% mortality in J2 juveniles. At 125 ppm, extracts of D. genkwa and Q. indica produced 91 and 99% mortality, respectively. The toxicity of 5 selected plant extracts to M. hapla differed depending on the solvent used (i.e. hexane, methanol, hot water, or cold water). Hot water extracts of Z. officinale and Q. indica produced nematicidal efficacies of 99 and 99%, compared to 36 and 98%, respectively, with cold water extraction. Q. indica extract was highly active against M. hapla regardless of extraction method. The inhibitory effects of Areca catechu, D. genkwa, Desmodium caudatum, Pharbitis nil, Q. indica, and Z. officinale extracts on egg hatching of M. hapla was evaluated. At 1,000 ppm, D. genkwa, P. nil, and Q. indica extracts significantly reduced hatching at 7, 14 and 21 days after treatment. Numbers of juveniles in soil treated with the methanol extract D. genkwa (1,000 ppm) were significantly lower than in untreated soil in trials in pots and in a ginseng (Phanax ginseng) field. These results indicate that Q. indica extracts could be used as an environmental friendly control agent of M. hapla.

Effect of SagungaTang Ingestion on Ammonia and IGF-I During Training Period (트레이닝 기간 중 사군자탕 섭취가 Ammonia와 IGF-I 에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigated the effect of six weeks' administration of Sagungatang Ingestion to blood ammonia and IGF-I, and further to testify its efficacy as ergogenic aids. The experimental subjects, 6 basketball players are loaded gradual maximal exercise by Treadmill at pre-Ingestion, three weeks after Ingestion, and six weeks after Ingestion, respectively and then their reaction of blood variables are analyzed. The obtained results are as follows: The effects of the Sagungatang on blood energy metabolism was showed Ammonia to the time(p<.01), But week was not showed. IGF-I was showed week(p<.01). In conclusion, Sagungatang herb medicine ingestion of high school basketball player did show good effect on the rest time and recovery process to blood ammonia and IGF-I. Even though the Sagungtang precedes can be for the department of sport medicine as well as good for health.

  • The aesthetic value of Korea is rising in various fields through the use of designs using Korean materials. Korean materials contain oriental ideas and are widely used as materials for design development due to the uniqueness of its form. The purpose of this study is to present basic data of nail art design differentiated nail art designs required at the nail art industry site by producing nail works using Korean materials. Accordingly, We proceeded on the basis of theoretical consideration and empirical research for the development of nail art design, a field of beauty in this study, and made a Korean and unique nail art design work using the Four Gracious Plants. For this purpose, we considered theoretically the characteristics of nail art and the Gracious Plants, and made nail art design works derived from empirical research. The work was analyzed by color, texture, and design elements of form. Therefore, the mixed method of Nail Art and the Gracious Plants, which is the core of this study, is considered to be meaningful in laying the foundation for creative nail art design development.

Insecticidal Activity of 7 Herbal Extracts against Black Pine Bast scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae (솔껍질깍지벌레에 대한 7종류 한약재 추출물의 살충활성)

  • The black pine bast scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae is one of the most serious insect pest in Japanese black pine, Pinus thunbergii forest in Korea. Insecticidal activity of 10 folds hot water extracts from 7 herbal plants (Atractylodes lancea, Eugenia caryophyllata, Lonicera japonica, Melia azedarach, Quisqualis indica, Sophora flavescens and Taraxacum mongolicum) were tested against different stage of M. thunbergianae using spray method both in laboratory and field. Efficacies of herbal extracts were different depending on stage of M. thunbergianae. Q. indica sprayed with hand sprayer produced the highest corrected mortality of 95.7% on intermidiated nymph stage, however, A. lancea produced the highest corrected mortality (51.3%) on pupae of M. thunbergianae in laboratory. Q. indica and A. lancea were highly effective against female M. thunbergianae in laboratory, however, corrected mortality was lower than other stage (40.0%). Efficacy of Q. indica was similar to effective insecticide, fenitrothion 50% EC against M. thunbergianae in field trials. These results indicated that Q. indica could be an environmental friendly control agent of M. thunbergianae.

  • 본 연구는 인공생명의 알고리즘을 응용해서 기존 영상작품과 엔터테인먼트(컴퓨터 게임)와는 전혀 다른 형태의 작품을 구현 하는데 그 목적이 있다 기존의 영상작품과 엔터테인먼트는 제한된 상호 작용성(기존 영상작품이나 컴퓨터 게임은 장면의 진행과 시나리오가 정해진 틀에서만 표현된다)을 갖는데, 인공생명 알고리즘을 응용한 작품은 무한한 상호 작용성(interactivity)을 표현할 수 있다. 본 연구는 인공생명 알고리즘 L-system을 응용해 우리 전통미술인 사군자와 인공적으로 진화하는 수족관속의 물고기를 인 실리코(컴퓨터 속의 세계)에서 구현 하였다. 사군자는 여백을 클릭할 때마다 성장과 소멸하면서 무한히 변형된 형태의 모습을 창조하고, 수족관속의 포식자 피기는 눈이 커지는 것, 꼬리가 길어지는 것, 지느러미가 커지는 것으로 진화 한다.

The effect of Sagunjatanghapchangchuljiyutang on chronic diarrhea in rats (사군자탕합창출지유탕(四君子湯合蒼朮地楡湯)이 흰쥐의 만성설사(慢性泄瀉)에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : To observe Sagunjatanghapchangchuljiyutang in rectifying the digestive dysfunctional spleen deficiency syndrome caused by chronic diarrhea. Methods : Sagunjatanghapchangchuljiyutang was chosen to treat the digestive dysfunctional spleen deficiency syndrome caused by chronic diarrhea. The model was induced by Rhei Radix and castor oil. The effects on the gastric secretion ability(gastrin, secretin, volume of gastric juice, free acidity, total acidity, pepsin activity) and nutritional condition(protein, albumin, total cholesterol, triglyceride, total lipid, BUN, creatinine, RBC, WBC, hemoglobin, hematocrit) were observed in vivo. Results : The group induced chronic diarrhea by Rhei Radix and castor oil had lower gastric secretion ability and nutritional condition was lower than that of the normal group. The figures for group given Sagunjatanghapchangchuljiyutang showed improvement, especially gastrin, total lipid and hematocrit. Conclusion : Sagunjatanghapchangchuljiyutang have an effect on the digestive dysfunctional spleen deficiency syndrome caused by chronic diarrhea. And experimental study syndrome could be proceed.

Insecticidal Activity of Chinese Honeysuckle, Quisqualis indica Extracts against Scale Insects (사군자추출물의 깍지벌레류에 대한 살충활성)

  • Scale insects heavily damaged many agricultural crops and trees in urban and forest areas. This study was conducted to carry out alternative control methods for environmentally friendly control of scale insects. Hot water extract of Quisquali indica produced high mortality against the black pine bast scale, Matsucoccus thunbergianae in previously experiment. Methanol extract obtained from fruit of Q. indica was successively fractionated using hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, buthanol and water which were examined by exposing for their insecticidal activity against four Cocoidea species (Eriococcus lagerstroemiae, Ceroplastes japonicus, Crisicoccus pini and Planococcus citri) in laboratory. Hexane fraction gave the highest insecticidal activity against scale insect pest. GC-mass analysis confirmed that the main compounds of Q. indica were alpha-pinene, methyl palmitate, eugenol, methyl myristate, phthalic acid mono(2-ethylhexyl)ester and palmitic acid. Among those compounds, ${\alpha}$-pinene was included 10 hexane subfractions. $LC_{50}$ of ${\alpha}$-pinene was 0.0114 ppm against 2nd instar of E. lagerstroemiae. These results suggest that Q. indica extracts might be used as an alternative control agent of scale insects.

A Study of Kwon Kisoo's Paintings : focused on The 'Four Gracious Plants' and 'Dongguri'

  • Kwon Kisoo is one of the most promising artist in Korea. His paintings portray a lot of metaphors and philosophies in oriental art. As an artist, he adapts both oriental and contemporary ideas to make his paintings. His main motifs are Plum blossoms, Chrysanthemum, Orchid and Bamboos. These plants are known as 'Sa-gonja' in Korean but translated as the 'Four Gracious plants' or the 'Four Gentle Plants in english'. These noble plants represent the four seasons. They grow in different weather conditions. In oriental art, these plants are considered very important for their qualities. These qualities are important attributes for gentlemen in literati painting. The drawing of the 'Four Gracious Plants' in Kwon Kisoo's paintings is simplified. He uses lines, shapes and colour to create contours of the motifs. In his paintings, there is another icon he calls 'Dongguri'. Dongguri is the main character in Kwon Kisoo's paintings. It was developed in 2002 by fast brush strokes. Dongguri is an admired character because it looks like very cute in Kwon Kisoo's paintings. Dongguri is always seen living in the midst of the 'Four Gracious Plants'. The 'Four Gracious Plants' with other landscape features like rocks and mountains are places 'Dongguri' lives. Dongguri is also often found performing a lot of actions like climbing, running, sitting etc. All these actions depict metaphors which have been unraveled in this study.
