  • The twisting and extrusion process of the product with involute helical fin from the round billet is developed by the upper bound analysis. The twisting of extruded product is caused by the twisted die surface connecting the die entrance section and the die exit section linearly. In the analysis, the internal shear surface is defined as the curved twisted plane from the taisting of die surface and the shear work is calculated by the consumption of shear energy The increase rate of angular velocity is determined by the minimization of plastic work. The results of the analysis show that the angular velocity of the extruded product increases with the die twisting angle, the reduction of area, and decreases with the die length, the friction condition.

  • A key technology for achieving commercial Nb_{3}$Sn superconducting wires may be driven from fabrication process of big-scale billets. There was no breakage in the strand that was constituted with annealed sub-element. It was need that billet had to treat HIP because of remove of voids and good contact between Cu and Nb filaments. Ta wound sheet was better than Ta tube for barrier in the strand.

  • In the extrusion process, the working material is forced to flow through a die with the desired profile. In general, the width of an extruded section is limited to about an inch less than the diameter of the round billet. But through the lip die, material is spreaded to produce a wider extruded section than the diameter of round billet. In this study, the extrusion process of an aluminum plate using the lip die is investigated. The width of the extruded plate is 450mm that is formed from the round billet with a diameter of 250mm. The flow characteristic through the lip die is considered to produce the wide-extruded plate with a small billet using rigid plastic FE analysis. Based on the result of FE analysis, an optimized design of the lip die is then proposed.

  • Finite element analysis of open die forging process to make rectangular billet has been performed in this study. Three dimensional rigid-plastic finite element method was used to analyze the effects of process variables, forging pass design and die configurations on the void closure phenomena to maximize the internal deformation for better structural homogeneity and center-line consolidation of the rectangular billet. The effect of anvil width ratio, anvil pitch, anvil shape and number of pass has been estimated by the degree of void closure ratio. Although it is difficult to optimize process parameters in the operational environments, favourable process conditions are suggested for better product quality.

  • The twisting and extrusion process of the product with trapezoidal helical fin from the round billet is developed by the upper bound analysis. The twisting of extruded product is caused by the twisted die surface connecting the die entrance section and the die exit section linearly. In the analysis, the rotational velocity in angular direction is assumed by the multiplication of radial distance and angular velocity. The angular velocity is increased linearly by axial distance from the die entrance. The increase rate of angular velocity is determined by the minimization of plastic work. The results of the analysis show that the angular velocity of the extruded product increases with the die twisting angle, the reduction of area, and decreases with the die length, the friction condition.

  • 이 연구에서는 주단조 공정을 자동차 부품인 low control arm 제조에 적용하였다. Al6061에 주단조 공정을 적용함므로써 재료비 감소와 기존의 스틸제품보다 경량화 효과를 얻을 수 있다는 것을 증명하기 위함이다. 첫째로 단조 재료인 A16061의 최적 주조조건을 찾기 위하여, 주조 실험은 알루미늄의 주입온도, 금형온도, 주입시간을 조절함으로써 수행되어졌다. 최적주조조건은 주입온도 $700^{\circ}C$, 금형온도 30$0^{\circ}C$, 주입시간 10초로 정하여졌다. 각각의 미세조직을 관찰하고 응력-변형률곡선을 구하기 위하여 열가단조실험은 빌렛온도, 변형률속도와 감소율을 기초로 하여 수행되어졌다.(중략)

Sub-element billet with diameter of 200 mm was designed and fabricated. This billet was hot-extruded and drawn. Cu stabilizer tube, Nb barrier tube and 19 sub-elements inserted Sn core were composed for strand. There was no breakage in the strand that was constituted with annealed sub-element. It was need that billet had to treat HIP because of remove of voids and goad contact between Cu and Nb filaments. Ta wound sheet was better than Ta tube thor barrier in the strand. Ic of the Nb$_3$Sn wire at 127, 4.2K was over than 120 A.

입자분산강화 알루미늄 복합재의 압출가공특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hot Extrusion Characteristics of Particulate Reinforced Aluminium Matrix Composite.)

  • 분말야금법으로 제조된 A6061기 입자분산강화 복합재의 열간압술가공에 있어서 압출특성에 미치는 강화입자의 종류, 빌렛특성 및 암술조건의 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. A6061기 복합재료의 열간 압술 전단 변형저항에 미치는 강화입자종류의 영향은 Si $C_{w}$ > A1$_2$ $O_{3f}$ > A1$_2$ $O_{3f}$ > Si $C_{p}$의 순으로 되었으며, 모든 강화입자에서 부피분율이 증가함에 따라서 Kw값도 증가하였다. 압출조건, 강화입자의 첨가량 및 첨가입자의 평균입도에 관계없이 A1$_2$ $O_{3p}$가 첨가된 복합재의 열간압출가공에 필요한 소요압력은 Si $C_{p}$의 경우보다 컸다. 압출압력은 압출 다이스 반각이 커질수록 감소하는 경향은 나타났다. 이것은 다이스 반각에 의해 생성되는 빌렛과의 접촉면적이 증가하여 전단마찰응력(m $k_3$)이 상승하기 때문이다. 압출시 압출온도 상승은 저온에서 ~$50^{\circ}C$ 정도 증가하였으며, 압출온도가 50$0^{\circ}C$ 이상이 되면 압출재 표면에 극심한 tearing이 발생하였다. 강화입자의 첨가량이 증가할수록 이 현상은 더 심하게 되었다.게 되었다.

연속주조 빌렛의 3차원 열 및 유동해석 (Three-dimensional Numerical Modeling of Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Continuously Cast Billets)

  • A three-dimensional model was developed in order to simulate heat and fluid flow of a continuous casting billet. The model was coded with the general-purpose CFD program FIDAP, using the finite element method. The present model consists of 2 individual calculation schemes, named model 1 and model 2. Mold region only was calculated to check the pouring stream through submerged nozzle with model 1. Entire region, which consists of mold, secondary cooling, radiation cooling was calculated to predict crater end position, temperature profile and solid shell profile(model 2). Standard $k-{\bullet}\hat{A}$ turbulence model has been applied to simulate the turbulent flow induced by submerged nozzle. Enthalpy method was adopted for the latent heat of solidification. Fluid flow in mushy zone was treated using variable viscosity approach. The more casting speed and superheat increased, the more metallurgical length increased. The shell thickness at the mold exit is proved to be mainly controlled by superheat by the present simulation. It may be concluded that the present model can be successfully applied far the prediction of heat and fluid flow behavior in the continuous casting process.

7075 합금의 압출에서 원소재 빌렛과 압출재의 열처리에 따른 미세조직 및 기계적 특성 분석 (Analysis of Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of Billet and Extrudate according to Heat Treatment for the Extrusion of 7075 alloy)

  • Heating experiments using the 7075 aluminum alloy in the state of billet and extrudate have been performed to investigate the pertinent ranges of working temperatures and holding times for the application to the various automobile parts. The 7075 specimens from raw billet of 152 mm in diameter and 400 mm in length prior to extrusion were used for heating with a holding time of 10 minutes at temperatures between 380℃ and 550℃. Then, an extrusion process using the billet has been fulfilled at 380℃ with extrusion speed of 0.8 mm/min to get an plate-type extrudate of 75 mm in width and 4.2 mm in thickness. The samples from the extrudate were subjected to heating experiments at temperatures between 380℃ and 440℃ with holding times such as 10 min, 30 min, 60 min and 120 min at each heating temperature. The microstructures were investigated on the optical and EBSD micrographs. The hardness measurement and the tensile test have been performed to investigate the effect of the heat treatment on the mechanical property. The results showed for the 7075 extrusion process that the safe heating of billet can be performed below 450℃ and the extrusion can be done safely up to 400℃.
