  • This research describes strategies to promote the growth of the Big Data industry and the companies within the ecosystem. In doing so, we identify the roles and responsibilities of various objects of this ecosystem and Big Data concepts. We describe the five components of the Big Data ecosystem: governance, data holders, service users, service providers and infrastructure providers. Related to the Big Data industry, the paper discusses 13 business strategies between the five components in the ecosystem. These strategies directly respond to areas of research by the Big Data industry leading experts on its early development. These strategies focus on how companies can gain competitive advantages in a growing new business environment of Big Data. The strategy topics are as follows: 1) the government's long term policy, 2) building Big Data support centers, 3) policy support and improving the legal system, 4) improving the Privacy Act, 5) increasing the understanding of Big Data, 6) Big Data support excavation projects, 7) professional manpower education, 8) infrastructure system support, 9) data distribution and leverage support, 10) data quality management, 11) business support services development, 12) technology research and excavation, 13) strengthening the foundation of Big Data technology. Of the proposed strategies, establishing supportive government policies is essential to the successful growth of thee Big Data industry. This study fosters a better understanding of the Big Data ecosystem and its potential to increases the competitive advantage of companies.

  • The development of civilization is in line with evolution of cities and transportation technology caused by industrialization. Up to now, a city has been developed owing to transportation cost reduction and needs for land utilization as a limited core business district. Continuous increase of urban population density has accompanied by lots of problems socioeconomically such as rise of land value, traffic congestion, gap between the rich and poor, air pollution, etc. Those issues are difficult to be solved in existing city ecosystem. However, a clue for solving the problems could be found in there. The design of Seoul mid-night bus route was from analysis of movement of people in the rural area by using ICT so that a city ecosystem should be firstly analyzed for solving rural issues. If the cause of those is found, big data platform construction is required to raise the life quality of citizen and the problems could be solved. Big data should be located in the middle of the platform connected with every element of city based on ICT for real-time collection, analysis and application. This paper addresses construction of big data platform and its application for sustainable smart city.

  • A smart platform is defined as an evolved platform that realizes physical and virtual space into a hyper-connected environment by combining the existing platform and advanced IT technology. The hyper-connection that is the connection between information and information, infrastructure and infrastructure, infrastructure and information, or space and service, enables the realization and provision of high-quality services that significantly change the quality of life and environment of users. In addition, it is providing everyone with the effect of significantly improving the social safety net and personal health management level by implementing smart government and smart healthcare. A lot of information produced and consumed in these processes can act as a factor threatening the basic rights of the public and individuals by the informations themselves or through big data analysis. In particular, as the smart platform as a core function that forms the ecosystem of a smart city is naturally and continuously expanded, it faces a huge security burden in data processing and network operation. In this paper, platform components as core functions of smart city and appropriate security threats and countermeasures are studied.

  • A national park is a place to conserve natural resources and visitors to experience nature, and thus, it is necessary to identify the noise distribution characteristic in the national park and preserve and restore the soundscape. However, most national parks in Korea are exposed to noise, leading to negative perceptions of the national park's soundscape and affecting the ecosystem. Many national parks in other countries have investigated the ecosystem impacts caused by noise and have performed various management to reduce the noise. However, in Korea, there is still a lack of awareness of the effect on the ecosystem, overlooking the need for soundscape management. Therefore, in this study, we developed a noise map of Mudeungsan National Park to investigate the quantitative impact of noise on visitors and the ecosystem. Also, we measured the trail's soundscape to describe a sound grade classification, and the soundscape of main spots in the park was recorded for a year and then analyzed. Finally, the sound resource distribution map was described, which can be used as preliminary data to determine the national park's sound distribution characteristics and manage the soundscape.
