Dynamic Interaction of Track and Train System on Open Gap by Rail Breaks (레일 파단시 장대레일 개구부에서의 궤도-차량 동적상호작용)

  • CWR (Continuous Welded Rail) may be broken when a temperature drop below the neutral temperature changes in axial force, causing tensile fracture and rail gap, in winter. Rail-breaks may lead to the damage of the rail and wheel by dynamic load, and the reduction of running safety if not detected before the passage of a train. In this study, the track and train coupled model with open gap for dynamic interaction analysis, is proposed. Linear track and train systems is coupled by the nonlinear Herzian contact spring and the complete system matrices of total track-train system is constructed. And the interaction phenomenon considering open gap, was defined by assigning the irregularity functions between the two sides of a gap. Time history analysis, which have an iteration scheme such as $Newmark-{\beta}$ method based on Modified Newton-Raphson methods, was performed to solve the nonlinear equation. Finally, numerical studies are performed to assess the effect of various parameters of system, apply to various speeds, open gap size and the support stiffness of rail.

Mathematical Model for Dynamic Performance Analysis of Multi-Wheel Vehicle (다수의 바퀴를 가진 차량의 동적 거동 해석의 수학적 모델)

  • In this study, a simulation program is developed in order to investigate non steady-state cornering performance of 6WD/6WS special-purpose vehicles. 6WD vehicles are believed to have good performance on off-the-road maneuvering and to have fail-safe capabilities. But the cornering performances of 6WS vehicles are not well understood in the related literature. In this paper, 6WD/6WS vehicles are modeled as a 18 DOF system which includes non-linear vehicle dynamics, tire models, and kinematic effects. Then the vehicle model is constructed into a simulation program using the MATLAB/SIMULINK so that input/output and vehicle parameters can be changed easily with the modulated approach. Cornering performance of the 6WS vehicle is analyzed for brake steering and pivoting, respectively. Simulation results show that cornering performance depends on the middle-wheel steering as well as front/rear wheel steering. In addition, a new 6WS control law is proposed in order to minimize the sideslip angle. Lane change simulation results demonstrate the advantage of 6WS vehicles with the proposed control law.

Nonliear vibration analysis of polyurethane foam (폴리우레탄 폼의 비선형 진동특성 해석)

  • A dynamic modeling and prediction of polyurethane foam material, which is used as the seat in vehicles is very important for improving the ride quality of vehicle occupants. In this study, parameters to define the nonlinear stiffness and time-variant characteristics of the viscoelasticity of polyurethane foam were obtained using a static compression test. Polynomial functions and convolution integral were used to model the nonlinear and viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam mathematically. The dynamic behaviors excited by the seat floor displacement were analyzed using a numerical integration method for the nonlinear vibration model. As a result, the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam was found to be an important parameter for improving the ride quality.

  • Equations of motion for a 7 DOF full car model is developed in detail and used for the design of LQR based active suspension system. The frequency response to road disturbance input and the motion of a car passing unequal bumps were used to analyzed the dynamic characteristics of the 7 DOF full car with passive or active suspensions. The resulting linear equations of motion may be usefull in designing other types of active suspension.

A Study on the Prediction Models of Used Car Prices for Domestic Brands Using Machine Learning (머신러닝을 활용한 브랜드별 국내 중고차 가격 예측 모델에 관한 연구)

  • The domestic used car market continues to grow along with the used car online platform service. The used car online platform service discloses vehicle specifications, accident history, inspection history, and detailed options to service consumers. Most of the preceding studies were predictions of used car prices using vehicle specifications and some options for vehicles. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that there was a nonlinear relationship between used car prices and some specification variables. Accordingly, the researchers tried to solve the nonlinear problem by executing a Machine Learning model. In common, the Regression based Machine Learning model had the advantage of knowing the actual influence and direction of variables, but there was a disadvantage of low Cost Function figures compared to the Decision Tree based Machine Learning model. This study attempted to predict used car prices of six domestic brands by utilizing both vehicle specifications and vehicle options. Through this, we tried to collect the advantages of the two types of Machine Learning models. To this end, we sequentially conducted a regression based Machine Learning model and a decision tree based Machine Learning model. As a result of the analysis, the practical influence and direction of each brand variable, and the best tree based Machine Learning model were selected. The implications of this study are as follows. It will help buyers and sellers who use used car online platform services to predict approximate used car prices. And it is hoped that it will help solve the problem caused by information inequality among users of the used car online platform service.

Human Body Vibration Analysis under Consideration of Seat Dynamic Characteristics (시트 동특성을 고려한 인체 진동 해석)

  • In this study, vibration properties of seat and human body are analyzed through test and numerical analysis methods by taking into account the viscoelastic characteristics of polyurethane foam as seat material which is applied for vehicle. These viscoelastic characteristics which show nonlinear and quasi-static behavior are obtained by compression test. In addition, the viscous elastic property of polyurethane foam is modelled mathematically by using convolution integral and nonlinear stiffness model. In order to analyze the performance on ride comfort of seat, vertical vibration model is established by using dynamic model of seat and vertical vibration model of human body at ISO5982, and so the related motion equations are derived. A numerical analysis simulation is applied by using the nonlinear motion equation with Runge-Kutta integral method. The dynamic responses of seat and human body on the input of vibration acceleration measured at the floor of the railway vehicle are examined. The variation of the index value at ride comfort on seat design parameters is analyzed and the methodology on seat design is suggested.

  • During winter, the CWR (continuous welded rail) may be broken when a temperature drop below the neutral level changes the axial force, causing tensile fracture and creating a rail gap. The passage of a train on a rail with an open gap may lead to very costly derailments. In this paper, the use of a track-and-train-coupled model whose rail has an open gap is proposed for dynamic interaction analysis. Moreover, the interaction phenomenon considering the presence of an open gap in the rail was toughly defined by assigning the irregularity functions between the two sides of the gap.   • 본 논문은 철도차량이 주행하는 선로에 존재하는 수많은 곡선과 경사, 속도 제한 조건 때문에 열차성능해석 계산시 열차의 견인, 제동 특성이 비선형이기 때문에 해석적인 방법으로 해를 구하는데 어려움이 많은 경제운전 문제를 운행 시간 여유분을 고려하여 에너지 소비를 최소화하는 운전 모형을 제시한다. 경제운전모형을 한국형 고속열차에 적용하여 그 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • Vehicle dynamics control (VDC) system requires more information on driving conditions compared with ABS and/or TCS. In order to develop the VDC system, tire slip angles, vehicle side-slip angle, and vehicle lateral velocity as well as road friction coefficient are needed. Since there are not any cheap and reliable sensors, recent researches on parameter estimation have given rise to a number of parameter estimation techniques. This paper presents new vehicle model to estimate vehicle's yaw rate. This model is improved from the conventional 2 degrees of freedom vehicle model, so-called bicycle model, taking nonlinear effects into account. These nonlinear effects are: (i) tyre nonlinearity; (ii) lateral load transfer during cornering; (iii) variable gear ratio with respect to vehicle velocity. Estimation results are validated with the experimental results.

  • It is essential to perform driving performance tests of military vehicles on rough terrain. A full car test is limited by cost and time constraints, because of which a dynamic analysis via computer simulation is preferred. In this study, a vehicle model is developed using MSC.ADAMS, a commercial multibody analysis program, and compared via experiments. FTire is modeled using the results of a tire performance test to obtain the vertical stiffness. A nonlinear damper is modeled by a characteristic experiment. Leaf springs are modeled with beam force elements and consisted to a vehicle model. The vertical force and acceleration response of the wheel are identified when vehicle is passing over a simple bump as well as a sinusoidal road. The developed vehicle model is verified with the results of a full car test.
