Research of Load Reduction on Corrugated Steel Pipe Using EPS Block (EPS 블록을 이용한 파형강관의 하중저감에 관한 연구)

  • Researches on the induced trench method using compressible materials such as clay, mud, straw have been performed to reduce the load acting on buried conduits under a high fill in USA and Canada. And in-situ tests on load reductionmethod using EPS block as a compressible inclusion have been performed in Japan and Norway. Using a EPS block as a compressible materials can have various benefits such as cost-effective design, enlargement of safety and easy construction of structure under high fills. This paper analyzes the arching material function of EPS which can result in reduction of earth pressure by arching effect in Corrugated Steel Pipe. A series of tests were conducted to evaluate the reduction of earth pressure on conduits using EPS. Based on field test it is found that the magnitude of vertical earth pressure on conduits was reduced to about 35∼40% compared with conventional flexible conduit systems.

Evalution for Joints of Coastal Environments Blocks (Coastal Environments 블록 적용을 위한 연결부 강도평가)

  • Other damage can occur due to the preexisting dull structure and installation of nonenvironmental-friendly concrete structure, lack of function for preventing coastal erosion. Increase of personal income and fast spread of the concept of waterfront casued the initiation of many project to improve aging coastal ports. However, none of environment-friendly structure has been developed and pre-existing solid block, igloo block, tunnel block are used commonly. In piers and lighter's wharf where the ships are mooring, resonance by the generation of a reflected wave caused by penetration wave in the port and port wave increases wave heights in the port and makes difficult to maintain the temperature, causes problems in mooring ships and cargo-working, and eventually increase the occurance of damages of the small ships by the collision. Therefore, development of new types of blcok is necessary. To apply Coastal Environments block developed for this reason, it requires allowable bearing capacity evaluation of shear key. For this study, we made test specimen for connecting part of C.E. Block, and conducted friction test of boundary surface. Data obtained by the experiment was analyzed by finite element analysis and assessed the coefficient of friction between C.E. Block and boundary surface.

  • Two-dimensional laboratory experiments were conducted in a wave flume to investigate the wave transmission phenomena of impermeable-type submerged structures armored by concrete blocks. Different experimental conditions were included by considering relative crest depth, relative freeboard, relative crest width, wave steepness, and so on. An empirical formula was proposed to predict the wave transmission coefficients over various specifications and structural designs of the impermeable submerged structure from the experimental results. The proposed formula successfully predicted the wave transmission coefficients. Therefore, in this study, the proposed empirical formula of the wave transmission over an impermeable submerged structure was improved from the existing formula.

A case study on reinforcement and design application of reinforced earth wall using micro pile (마이크로 파일을 이용한 블록식 보강토옹벽의 보강 및 설계적용 사례 연구)

  • This paper describes reinforcement method of reinforced earth wall near the abutment. The excessive displacement of a case affected by reduction of bearing capacity due to macro-environment condition like a coast. That is, the front displacement of reinforced earth wall has been happening continuously due to strength reduction of foundation ground. The micro pile is applied to reinforcement method, in order to secure a bearing capacity and global slope stability of reinforced earth wall. The results of numerical analysis confirmed that reinforcement method based on micro pile can secure a stability of structure, while the reconstruction of reinforced earth wall is impossible by construction and macro-environment condition.

Dynamic Behavior on Transition Zone of the Railway Bridge-earthwork by Shape of Transition Zone (구조물 접속부 형상에 따른 철도 교량-토공 접속부의 동적거동)

  • The transition is the zone where support stiffness suddenly increases in the railway industry. If the support stiffness increases, differential settlement will occur at the transition due to difference of stiffness, and the differential settlement causes problems for the train running safety and the roadbed that supports the track. In particular, a study on differential settlement at bridge-earthwork transition was only conducted to considering railway load in most cases. However, these studies have not taken account of earthquake despite earthquake has been occurred frequently in the recent, and it is necessary to consider earthquake. Therefore, in this study numerical analysis has been performed by changing the inclination of approach block, which determines the shape of the transition, and earthwork in order to verify the effect of the shape of the transition on the dynamic behavior at the bridge-earthwork transition. The result shows that the dynamic behavior at the bridge-earthwork transition was affected by the shape of transition.

Dynamic Simulation of a Shipbuilding Erection Crane based on Wire Rope Dynamics (Wire Rope Dynamics 기반의 조선용 탑재 크레인 동역학 시뮬레이션)

  • A wire rope is comprised of several metal wires which are wound together like a helix and it can resist relatively large axial loads, as compared with bending and torsional loads. A shipbuilding crane for erection such as a floating crane, a gantry crane, and a crawler crane hoists up and down heavy blocks by using these wire ropes. Thus, it is necessary to find dynamic properties of a wire rope in order to safely lift the blocks using the crane. In this study, a formula for calculating the tension and torsional moment acting on wire ropes of the crane was derived based on the existing study, and then dynamic simulation of the crane was performed based on the formula. The result shows that the dynamic simulation can be applied to find the safe method for block erection of shipyards.

  • Currently, large vessels and structures are manufactured into set of blocks, then assembled on-site. Large scale ships that weigh thousands of tons are built in a short period by making set of large blocks and assembled on a dock or a land. When a transporter encounters a slope during the process of transporting blocks, the heavy goods loaded on the transporter can be tilted. Further, if the vehicle moves down the slope in this state then it can cause an accident of overturn of loaded goods. The research has been taken into account to calculate the center of gravity of the transporter carrying heavy objects on a leveled surface or the three dimensions. In addition, ZMP (Zero Moment Point) is used to calculate the allowable slope degree that objects are predicted to overturn. Through the simulation, the objects' stability is tested when it is climbing the slope.

제주외항 2단계 항만시설 설계

  • 제주 외항의 2단계 항만시설 사업으로 동방파제, 동방파호안, 접안시설, 친수호안, 접속호안 등 2,374m 구간에 대해 방파제 내파 안정성과 반사파 저감을 위한 단면계획을 통해 설계에 반영하였으며 지반 침하 및 지진피해 최소화를 위한 구조물의 사용 및 내구성을 중대시켰으며, 특히 크루저 선박의 본격취항을 대비한 친수공간개념의 도입에 많은 노력을 기울였다. 대상 사업지는 지형적 특성상 복잡한 형태의 고파랑이 작용하므로 방파제의 설계파를 7.3m로 상향조정하였고, 방파제 제간부에 발생하는 충격쇄파압에 대한 안정을 확보하기 위해 소파블록 피복케이슨제를 적용하였다. 제주도가 가지는 국제적 위상에 맞추어 국제미항개발, 레저형 웰빙공간조성 및 제주항이 가지는 자연적 특성을 반영하여 친수 방파제와 호안 및 배후시설의 친환경적인 배려를 최대화 하였다. 해양 생태계 보호를 위하여 해조류 서식지 및 해중림 조성 등 생태복원계획도 수립하였다.

  • Soongeui complex stadium is a reinforced concrete frame structure composed of columns, slabs and beams. The stadium, however, is also a special structure because it has a tall tower of electronic display board and slabs inside its own structure which is different from the structures that had been demolished using blasting by then. Explosive demolition for the stadium was carried out from the left-hand side of the outfield stand to the right considering 2 rows of columns supporting the stand as a blasting unit. An overturning demolition method was applied to the tower of electronic display board. Water bags that played the role of multipurpose protection were applied to control the dust. As a result, the demolition project of the special structure of Soongeui complex stadium was judged to be a great success.

  • 지하에 설 치된 맨홀의 구조물이 노후되거나, 내부에 수 용된 시설물로 작업 공간이 협소하여 맨홀 구조물을 대개체 할 펼요가 있을 경우, 지금까지는 대부분 현장 콘크리트 타설에 의한 방법을 사용하였다. 이러한 방법은 거푸집 시공, 콘크리트 타설, 콘크리트 양생, 거푸집 철거 등의 공정이 소요되어 공사 기간이 장기화 되고, 도심지에 위치한 맨홀인 경우에는 차량과 보행자의 통행 불편을 초래하기도 하였다. 또한, 통상적으로 사용되고 있는 프리캐스트 맨홀에 비해 시공 품질이 낮아 향후 맨홀의 운용 및 유지관리에 많은 어려움을 겪는 원인이 되기도 하였다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해, 폴리머 콘크리트를 이용하여 하부, 벽체, 상부로 구성된 다수의 세그먼트를 생산한 후, 현장에서 이들 세그먼트를 조립하여 맨홀을 설치하는 방법을 연구하였다. 가변형 거푸집을 이용한 세그먼트 제작과 조립식 블록에 의한 관구를 사용하여 현장 적용성을 높임은 물론, 프리캐스트로 생산되는 폴리머 콘크리트 맨홀 수준의 시공 품질을 확보할 수 있도록 하였다.
