Preparation of Periodic Mesoporous Organosilica/Polymer Composite (주기적인 메조포러스 유기실리카/고분자 복합재료 제조)

  • Periodic mesoporous organosilicas (PMO) were synthesized using bis(triethoxy silyl) ethane (BTEE) as the precursor and dodecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(DTMA), cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTMA), and octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(ODTMA) as the templating agents. The surface area and pore volume of PMO decrease with the increasing of chain length of templating agents. However, the chain length of templating agents almost has no effect on the pore diameter of PMO. From the XRD and the DSC experiments, we found that the chain length of surfactants using as the templating agents has an effect on the melting transition of polyethylene. But it has no effect on the melting transition of poly(ethylene oxide). The results of TGA prove that the thermal decomposition temperature of polymer which was penetrated into PMO was increased.

Approximate solutions on the absorption process of an aqueous LiBr falling film : effects of vapor flow (리튬브로마이드 수용액 유하액막의 흡수과정에 대한 근사 해법 : 증기 유동의 영향)

  • Film absorption involves simultaneous heat and mass transfer in the vapor-liquid system. In the present work, the absorption process of water vapor by an aqueous soluton of LiBr flowing inside of the vertical tube was investigated. The continuity, momentum, energy and diffusion equations for the solution film and vapor were formulated in integral forms and solved numerically. The model could predict the film thickness, the pressure gradient, and the heat and mass transfer rate. Particularly the effects of vapor flow conditions on the absorption process were investigated in terms of the vapor Reynolds number. As the vapor Reynolds number increased, the shear stress at the vapor-solution interface also increased. Consequently solution film became thinner at higher vapor flowrate under the co-currentflow condition. Thinner film was capable of higher heat transfer to the wall and leaded to higher absorption rate of the water vapor into the solution film.

  • 트리클로로에틸렌 (trichloroethylene, TCE)는 오랜 시간동안 자연환경에서 잔류할 뿐만 아니라 TCE보다 더욱 더 독성이 강한 중간 생성물들을 만들기 때문에 미국과 대부분의 전세계 국가들로부터 주요 1차 환경오염물질로 분류되었다. 그러한 독성물질들은 혐기성 상태에서는 다이클로로 에틸렌(dichloroethylene, DCE)과 바이닐 클로라이드 (vinyl chloride, VC)와 같은 독성물질들이 생성되고 호기성 상태에서는 TCE epoxide계통의 물질들이 생성된다. 또한 훈증제인 메틸 브로마이드 (methyl bromide)는 대기의 오존층을 파괴하는 것으로 알려져 있고, 2001년경에 미국환경보호청 (USEPA)에 의해 사용이 금지될 것이다. TCE는 혐기성 조건하에서 연속적으로 탈염소화되고, 이어서 호기성 조건하에서 완전 산화될 수 있다. 그리하여 연속적인 혐기성 및 호기성 조건하에서 궁극적으로 TCE의 완전분해를 이루게된다. 메틸브로마이드는 화학적으로 가수분해되어 메틸 알콜 (methyl alcohol)로 되거나 유기물에 강하게 결합 (bound)된다. 또한 그것은 생물학적으로 포름알데하이드 (formaldehyde)로 산화되거나 메틸알콜로 가수분해된다. 수많은 연구자들에 의해 행해진 연구들은 TCE와 MeBr은 메탄 혹은 암모니아 산화 세균에 의한 공동대사과정 (cometabolism)을 통해 분해가 증진될 수 있다는 것을 보여주었다. 두 부류의 세균들이 두 화합물들을 분해시킬 수 있는 monooxygenase를 생산한다는 것은 잘 알려져 있다. 이 연구 논문에서 TCE와 MeBr의 생분해와 관련된 가장 최근의 연구논문들로부터 나온 핵심 연구결과들이 요약 검토된다. TCE와 MeBr로 오염된 현장을 정화하기 위해 이러한 기초연구결과들을 토대로 더욱 더 많은 연구가 필요 할 것으로 사료된다.

  • 주기적으로 작동하는 흡수식 장치가 부착된 직접 연소식 고효율 난방기기를 특정 공간 난방 목적으로 설계하여 제작하였다. 작동 유체는 메타놀/물-리치움브로마이드이다. 네개의 구성품으로 된 이 기기에는 동작부품이 없다. 제 1 시제품의 결과와 경험에 기반을 두고 개선형 시제품을 설계, 제작하였다. 현재까지 발생기-응축기 모듈이 설치되어 보일러 운전모드 결과가 확립되어 있다. 또한 난방기기의 경제성과 작동 유체의 안정성 연구가 중요한 부수 조건을 확립하기 위하여 수행되고 있다.

  • The determination of the neuromuscular blocking agents vecuronium bromide(VeBr) in biological fluids has been investigated. The method depends on the formation of insoluble red complex between vecuronium bromide and rose bengal in aqueous layer. The amount of vecuronium bromide was calculated from that of extracted rose bengal which was determined by spectrofluorimetry or HPLC/fluorescence detection method. It was possible to analyze VeBr in the range of $2{\sim}32{\mu}g/ml$(r=0.998 for water soln., 0.999 for urine, 0.996 for plasma). This method was applied to the analysis of VeBr in biological fluids, urine and plasma.

Effect of Intercalant on the Synthesis and Properties of Epoxy Nanocomposites (에폭시 나노복합재료 제조 및 물성에 미치는 유기화제의 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of type of intercalant on properties of epoxy nanocomposites was investigated. Cetyltrimethylammoniumbromide (CTMA) as an alkylammonium salt and cetyltributylphosphoniumbromgide (CTBP) as an alkylphosphonium salt were used to modify sodium montmorillonite. In the case of using the CTMA as an intercalant, the long spacing of the silicate layer was about $18.8 {\AA}$. When CTBP was used, the long spacing of the silicate layer ( $23.8{\AA}$) was higher than that of CTMA. From these results, the characteristic length of the modified silicate was found to be significantly affected by the type of intercalant. We also noted that the thermal stability of modified MMT were affected by the type of intercalant, but in the epoxy nanocomposites prepared from the modified MMT, the thermal stability remains almost the same regardless of the type of intercalant. Tensile strength and elongation of epoxy nanocomposites prepared from MMT modified with CTBT were found to be higher than those of the epoxy nanocomposite prepare with WT modified with CTMA.

A Numerical Study on Heat and Mass Transfer in a Falling Film of Vertical Plate Absorber Cooled by Air (공랭형 수직평판 흡수기 액막에서의 열 및 물질전달에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • Numerical analyses have been performed to obtain the absorption heat and mass transfer coefficients and the absorption mass flux from a falling film of the LiBr aqueous solution which is cooled by cooling air. Heat flux at the wall is specified in terms of the heat transfer coefficient of cooling air and the cooling air temperature. Effects of operating conditions, such as the heat transfer coefficient, the cooling air temperature, the system pressure and the solution inlet concentration have been investigated in view of the local absorption mass flux and the total mass transfer rate. Effects of film thickness and film Reynolds number on the heat and mass transfer coefficients have been also estimated. Analyses for the constant wall temperature condition have been also carried out to examine the reliability of present numerical method by comparing with previous investigations.
