  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the impact of brand prestige on luxury marketing variables (patrons' perception of well-being, favorable inequity, affective commitment, and dedicational behaviors) in the luxury restaurant industry. Based on a thorough literature review, the clear definitions of each construct were established and theoretical causal relationships between the seven constructs were proposed (brand prestige, perception of well-being, favorable inequity, affective commitment, enhancement, advocacy, and brand consciousness). During this process, the moderating role of brand consciousness was also suggested. Integrating the proposed theoretical hypotheses, a structural model was created. This model was tested using the data collected from 527 luxury restaurant patrons in the United States. Data analysis revealed that brand prestige is a key determinant of favorable inequity and patrons' perception of well-being, thereby inducing two types of dedicational behaviors (enhancement and advocacy). More importantly, during this process, brand consciousness played a moderating role in the relationship between brand prestige and patrons' perception of well-being. Based on the data analysis results, the theoretical/practical implications were discussed.

To that end, the study used a 2 (fashion brand extension types: similar vs. non-similar) ${\times}2$ (preannouncing: near preannouncing vs. far preannouncing) ${\times}2$ (regulatory focus: promotion focus vs. prevention focus) three mixed elements. The subjects of the study were 280 men and women in their 20~40s living in Seoul and Chungnam province and total of 229 data were analyzed. Data were analysed with SPSS 19.0 program and three-way ANOVA, simple interaction effects and simple main effects analysis were conducted. The results of this study are as follows: First there were significant differences in preference based on fashion brand extension types and preannouncing. Second, there were significant interaction effects in preference between extension types of fashion brand and regulatory focus. But there was no difference in preference toward extension products according to types of preannouncing and regulatory focus. Lastly, fashion brand extension types, preannouncing and regulatory focus showed significant interaction effects on preference. Thus even in cases of non-similar brand extensions which carry more risk of failing, the appropriate marketing communication strategies such as preannouncing will result in brand preference. Also marketing activities should be comprehensive and strategical based on consumers' tendencies in order to derive positive evaluations.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate and verify interaction effects of collaboration and brand origin as well as fashion involvement on consumer attitudes towards global sports apparel brands and Chinese local sports apparel brands targeting Chinese consumers. A survey was conducted on 425 Chinese women aged 19 to 34 years. Data were subjected to frequency analysis, reliability analysis, t-tests, 3-way ANOVA, and simple effect analysis. Results of the study are as follows. First, fashion involvement, collaboration, and brand country of origin all had a significant effect on consumer preference of Chinese consumers when purchasing sportswear. Second, fashion involvement and collaboration in purchasing sportswear had a significant interaction effect on consumer preference. Finally, collaboration, brand origin, and fashion involvement showed significant three-way interaction effects on Chinese consumers' preferences. Results of this study can help establish an efficient marketing strategy for Chinese local sportswear brands, which are fiercely competing with global sportswear brands in the Chinese market because they can examine Chinese consumers' attitudes toward sportswear brands. To accurately compare global and local sportswear brands, it must be assumed that there are no differences in brand preferences among consumers. However, as this study selected each brand as the research brand ranked as the top preference, this aspect was not taken into consideration. Therefore, in future research, it is necessary to consider differences in brand preferences and conduct the study accordingly.

The results of this study were as follows: (i) Extension evaluation as well as fit judgement based on brand concepts was higher in symbolic brand than functional brand. (ii) The holistic thinkers were higher in fit judgement and expansion evaluation than the analytic ones. (iii) In case of symbolic brand, there was little differences in fit judgement and expansion evaluation between holistic thinkers and analytic thinkers. But In functional brand, there was some differences relatively. So, we found the interaction effect between variables in fit judgement and expansion evaluation. We can expect this research result to be helpful in working out diverse and practical marketing strategies using existing brand concepts in the global market environments.

  • This study explores and examines the impacts of the cultural characters on the brand attitude of Chinese regional consumers. This study used the 1,500 sample sized data collected from three major cities: Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. We investigate that power distance, individualism/collectivism, uncertainty avoidance and long-orientation are statistically different across cities. The empirical studies show that individualism/collectivism and uncertainty avoidance have significant impacts on the brand attitude of Chinese regional consumers. We tested that the relationship between the brand power and the brand attitude is moderated by individualism/collectivism, the results indicate that the effect of the brand power on the brand attitude is moderated by uncertainty avoidance. These results imply that Chinese consumers' culture character of individualism/collectivism and uncertainty avoidance moderate their brand attitude. Based on this results, We suggested some implications for further market segmentation strategy, brand marketing strategy, and Chinese regional consumer culture research.
