A Study on Quantification of Damping Efficiency of Acoustic Cavities by Absorption Coefficient (흡음 계수를 이용한 연소불안정 제어용 음향공의 감쇠 정량화)

  • A Helmholtz resonator as a stabilization device to control high-frequency combustion instabilities in liquid rocket engine is adopted and its damping capacity is verified by linear acoustic analysis and atmospheric acoustic tests. To compare the results of acoustic attenuation effect in accordance with uni-resonator's geometry, quantitative analyses were made in the cases of various orifice diameters and lengths. Next, in the experiments to compare the results of acoustic attenuation effect by a difference in the number of resonators, damping capacity of harmful resonant frequency was improved by the increase of the number of resonators. On the other hand, attenuation efficiency of the frequency tended rather to lower due to over damping from the point of view of absorption coefficient. As the result, tuning the suitable geometry for the resonator to the resonant frequency is required for the control using the resonator. Also, the design of resonator's geometry and the choice of its number are important to put up the optimal efficiency in consideration of restriction of its volume.

Effects of Aromatics and T90 Temperature for High Cetane Number Fuels on Exhaust Emissions in Low-Temperature Diesel Combustion (저온디젤연소에서 고세탄가 연료의 방향족 및 T90 온도가 배기가스에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of aromatics and T90 temperature for high cetane number (CN) of diesel fuels on combustion and exhaust emissions in low-temperature diesel combustion in a 1.9 L common rail direct injection diesel engine at 1500 rpm and 2.6 bar BMEP. Four sets of fuels with CN 55, aromatic content of 20% or 45% (vol. %), and T90 temperature of $270^{\circ}C$ or $340^{\circ}C$ were tested. Given engine operating conditions, all the fuels showed the same tendency of decrease of PM with an increase of an ignition delay time. At the same ignition delay time, the fuels with high T90 produced higher PM. At the same MFB50% location the amount of NOx was similar for all the fuels. Furthermore, at the same ignition delay time the amounts of THC and CO were similar as well for all the fuels. The amount of THC and CO increased with an extension of the ignition delay time mainly because of the increase of fuel-air over-mixing.

  • An electric excavator consumes battery energy to drive an electric motor attached to a hydraulic pump to generate hydraulic power. In a conventional hydraulic excavator, the hydraulic pump is controlled by regulators, which are used to optimize the diesel engine efficiency. Because of a lack of battery energy capacity, an electric excavator controller should consider not only the electric motor efficiency but also the hydraulic pump efficiency. Thus, electric motor and hydraulic pump efficiency maps were constructed. An optimal operating map (OOM) was created based on the most efficient operating points under each input condition. An integrated control algorithm controlled the speed of the electric motor and displacement of the hydraulic pump according to the OOM. To confirm the utility of this algorithm, a model-in-the-loop simulator for the algorithm with an electric excavator was established. The simulation results showed that the integrated control algorithm improved the energy efficiency of an electric excavator.

  • BSR noise emerges in a vehicle as a result of road vibrations, engine vibrations, and speaker vibrations. BSR noise occurs with an irregular impact or stick slip friction phenomenon as the influence of the resonance mode when the vibration input load is transferred along poor joint and contacting pairs of the system. A sub-structure method of finite element analysis is required to detect impacts and slip in the full vehicle model. This study presents a method for sub-structure modeling and a rattle and squeak detection methodology that considers the characteristics of road vibration inputs.

  • Since 2016 when the regulations related to vehicle structure and device modification were drastically revised, the car tuning market has been growing rapidly. Particularly, many drivers are showing interest in changing the interior and exterior according to their preference, or improving the specifications of their cars by changing the engine and powertrain, among others. Also, as the initial engine settings such as horse power and torque of the vehicle are made for stable driving of the vehicle, it is possible to change the engine performance, via Engine Control Unit (ECU) mapping, to the driver's preference. However, traditionally, ECU mapping could be only performed by professional car engineers and the settings were also decided by them. Therefore, this study proposed a system that collects data related to the driver's driving habits for a certain period and sends them to a cloud server in order to analyze them and recommend ECU mapping values. The traditional mapping method only aimed to improve the car's performance and, therefore, if the changes were not compatible with the driver's driving habits, could cause problems such as incomplete combustion or low fuel efficiency. However, the proposed system allows drivers to set legally permitted ECU mapping based on analysis of their driving habits, and, therefore, different drivers can set it differently according to the vehicle specifications and driving habits. As a result, the system can optimize the car performance by improving output, fuel efficiency, etc. within the range that is legally permitted.

So the purpose of development of traffic safety education system based on web is to advertise the importance and the need of traffic order and safety education and protect walkers and drivers from traffic accidents. The Contents and Scopes of Study Development are as follows. There are input of text, image and moving image data for traffic safety education, establishment of hierarchical relation for traffic safety education, relation analysis between traffic safety education information and design of hyper link structure between them, thesaurus implementation for traffic safety education system, design and implementation of information retrieval engine based on thesaurus, design and implementation of database schema for traffic safety education and GUI implementation for user.

Experimental Study of Vane Expander Prototype Applied to Micro Organic Rankine Cycle (초소형 유기랭킨사이클 적용 프로토 타입 베인 팽창기에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, performances of the vane expander protype for micro organic Rankine cycle with refrigerant R134a as a working fluid have been analyzed. While operating organic Rankine cycle for analysing expander efficiencies such as overall efficiencies, volumetric efficiencies and mechanical efficiencies under $110^{\circ}C$ of expander inlet temperature, the power of the expander, inlet temperature of expander, inlet pressure of expander and the flow rate of the working fluid(refrigerant R134a) have been measured while varying the rotational speed of the expander. It was found that the more the expander revolution speed is high, the more the expander power, overall efficiencies and volumetric efficiencies are higher. In case of 500 rpm of rotational speed, overall efficiencies are 6~7% and in case of 1000 rpm, overall efficiencies are 11~12%. We have found that low volumetric efficiencies result in poor overall efficiencies.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the characteristics of thermal deformation of the TPS which is a core part of engine in vehicle by measuring out-of-plane deformation using ESP!. Inspection area of a test piece was minimized to 5 cm by 5 cm by using a high resolution CCD and a zoom lens. 4-step phase shifting method was used along with phase unwrapping algorithm to get a continuous phase map, configurations and deformations were displayed as 3D images. When heating the test pieces while maintaining the temperature at about $70^{\circ}C$, the out-of-plane deformations were measured. The results showed that a test piece with longer distance traveled tends to show larger thermal deformation, we could observes a convex shaped deformation on the surface. The inner defect sample, we could monitor discontinuous pattern phase map, and a concave shaped deformation on the surface.

  • In this paper, we propose heterogeneous lifelog mining model in health big-data platform. It is an ontology-based mining model for collecting user's lifelog in real-time and providing healthcare services. The proposed method distributes heterogeneous lifelog data and processes it in real time in a cloud computing environment. The knowledge base is reconstructed by an upper ontology method suitable for the environment constructed based on the heterogeneous ontology. The restructured knowledge base generates inference rules using Jena 4.0 inference engines, and provides real-time healthcare services by rule-based inference methods. Lifelog mining constructs an analysis of hidden relationships and a predictive model for time-series bio-signal. This enables real-time healthcare services that realize preventive health services to detect changes in the users' bio-signal by exploring negative or positive correlations that are not included in the relationships or inference rules. The performance evaluation shows that the proposed heterogeneous lifelog mining model method is superior to other models with an accuracy of 0.734, a precision of 0.752.

  • In this paper, we propose an optimal energy management system using the data inference scheme and the cloud hosting technique in order to improve the efficiency of the energy management. We have been interested in the issue that the energy-saving and efficient management techniques are very useful for reducing the production and supply of energy. The energy management system refers to the control and management system in order to enable the efficient use of energy and also to maintain a comfortable and functional working environment effectively with the help of a computer. The proposed system controls a variety of equipment for energy management, and also gets the data for the inference from the changes in energy consumption environment, which is implemented to enable efficient energy management by adapting and controlling the changes optimally in the working environment. In order to evaluate the performance of the implemented system, some experiments have been performed under consideration of the monthly electric power consumption on the server that the inference engine is operating for the target facilities. Finally, the results show that the proposed system has a good performance.
