Design and Implementation of the Parallel Multimedia File System on Fast Ethernet (Fast Ethernet 환경에서 병렬 멀티미디어 파일 시스템의 설계와 구현)

  • 대용량 멀티미디어 미디어 서버를 구성함에 있어 I/O 병목현상을 극복하기 위하여 저장 서버들과 제어 서버로 구성되어진 2계층 분산 클러스터 서버구조가 많이 사용된다. 2 계층 분산 클러스터 서버는 부하 균등, 대역폭 관리 및 저장 서버의 관리 측면에서 유리한 반면, 저장 서버와 제어 서버간의 통신 오버헤드를 발생시킨다. 이러한 오버헤드를 줄이기 위해서는 저장 서버에서 읽은 미디어 데이터를 제어 서버를 거치지 않고 직접 클라이언트에 전송할 수 있어야 한다. 그리고, 저장 용량을 확장하거나 손상된 디스크를 교체하는 경우를 대비하여 분산 클러스터 서버는 다양한 성능의 이기종 디스크를 지원하여야 한다. 또한, I/O 장치와 운영체제가 빠르게 발전됨에 따라 미디어 서버는 새로운 I/O 장치 및 운영체제 등에 쉽게 이식될 수 있어야 하고, 응용 소프트웨어 개발자가 시스템의 환경에 따라 블록크기, 데이터 배치정책, 사본 정책 등을 유연하게 조절할 수 있어야 한다. 본 논문에서 위에서 언급한 멀티미디어 서버의 요구를 고려하여 Fast Ethernet 환경에서 병렬 멀티미디어 파일 시스템(PMFS : Parallel Multimedia File System)을 설계 및 구현하고 실험을 통해 PVFS(Parallel Virtual File System)와 성능을 비교 분석하였다. 이 실험의 결과에 따르면 PMFS는 멀티미디어 데이터에 대하여 PVFS보다 3%∼15%의 향상된 성능을 보였다.

  • In centralized control system, complicated control systems including sensors, power supply and dampers should be required to satisfy the target response of large-scale structures. The practical applications of the centralized control system, however, is very difficult due to high order finite element model of structures, uncertainty of models, and limitations of the excitation system. In this study, the decentralized response-dependent MR damper of which magnetic field is automatically modulated according to the displacement or velocity transferred to the damper without any sensing and computing systems. this decentralized response-dependent MR damper are investigated according to the ranges of relative magnitude between the control force of MR damper and the story shear force of structures by nonlinear time history analysis. Finally, its performance is compared with centralized LQR algorithm which is used in general centralized control theory for a three story building structure.

Design of a PWM-Controlled Driving Device for Backlightsof LED Systems (LED 광원의 백 라이트에 대한 PWM 제어 및 구동 장치 설계)

  • In this paper, we present a design of PWM-controlled driving device for backlights in LED systems. The system can control either the brightness of the entire screen of backlights of LCD driven by LED or illumination or contrast of each partial segment of the entire screen. The PWM-controlled driving device includes the shift register that shifts the series data according to the clock signal prior to the generation of parallel data. It is also is comprised of a number of registers, a number of counters, a number of comparators, and a number of synchronizing gates (producing the PWM-controlled signals). The proposed device for backlights in LED systems can generate the PWM-controlled signal with a high degree of resolution without the increase of clock frequency. It also contains the PWM-controlled circuit that disperses and restrains the quantized noise.

  • 본 논문에서는 다중로보트의 제어를 위하여 비젼 센서 등 여러 가지 센서신호를 처리할 수 있고 로봇의 충돌회피 및 협조제어를 할 수 있는 제어시스템을 개발하였다. 본 제어장치는 시스템 전체를 관리하며 언어 및 로보트 동작의 교시 그리고 자기진단 등의 기능을 하는 Supervisory Processor, vision에 대한 정보를 담당하는 로보트 제어 processor 등 여러개의 프로세서로 나누어 분산처리 구조를 갖도록 하여 확장성 및 유연성이 높은 시스템이 되도록 하였다. 실험적으로 본 시스템을 이용하여 로보트로 하여금 puzzle을 맞추는 작업을 수행시킴으로써 본 시스템의 우수성을 입증하였다.

  • 이 글에서는 1990년 가을 개국하여 운용되고 있는 서울우편물집중국의 우편 물 처리의 자동화 시스템의 적용을 분석, 그의 특징 등을 서술코자 한다. 본 서울우편물집중국의 자동화는 프로그래머블콘트롤러(PLC)를 적용하여 모 든 자동제어기를 통합 NETWORK화하여 1) 계층적제어 SYSTEM을 확립하 였으며 관리용 SYSTEM별의 자율적인 단위 조작과 기능적 독립을 유지하 며, 3) 분산제어 시스템화하여 우편처리에 있어 자동 일관처리 공정을 이루 는데 성공적이였으며, 이는 전적으로 PLC를 적용 계층적 분산제어에 의하여 성취되었다고 본다. 프로그래머블콘트롤러(PLC)는 확장성이 크고 강력한 우 편물 처리의 자동화 장치로서 계속적으로 우편물처리의 자동화 및 기계화 산업에 적용될 것임을 확신하는 바이다.

Performance Change of Application Devices Caused by Magnetorheological Particle Corrosion (자기유변 입자 부식에 따른 응용장치의 성능 변화)

  • MR(magnetorheological) devices for vehicle applications requires the consistent control performance and the reliable operation. However, the corrosion of iron particles consisting the MR fluid can significantly affect on MR properties. This paper presents an effect of the MR particle corrosion on the performance of MR fluids such as shear stress magnitude which is directly concerned with control performance. As a first step, MR particles are corroded by water-calcium chloride solution. The resulting MR particles are examined by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and their molar ratios are analyzed by the energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX). By dispersing the corroded MR particles into silicone oil, the corroded MR fluid is synthesized for evaluation of MR effect change. A rotational viscometer is adopted to measure shear stress magnitude. Finally, it is demonstrated how much the corrosion affect on performances by comparing the normal MR fluid to the corroded MR fluid, from which performance investigation of the MR devices containing the corroded MR particles will be studied in the second phase of this study.

  • 최근 신재생 에너지원을 이용한 분산전원에 대한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 신재생 에너지원과 에너지 저장장치로 이루어진 마이크로 그리드에서 안정적인 운전전략을 제안한다. 신재생 에너지원은 기상에 따라 출력이 달라지기 때문에 부하에 안정적인 전력을 공급하기 위해 에너지 저장장치를 사용한다. 에너지 저장장치의 안정적인 운전을 위해 SOC를 고려하여 제어한다. 배터리 충전/방전 시 외부조건에 의해 각 배터리 셀마다 충전량이 달라져 에너지 저장장치가 충분히 전력을 공급해주지 못하는 경우가 발생한다. 그러므로 각 셀마다 SOC를 측정하여 운전함으로써 부하에 안정적인 전력을 공급하는 제어전략은 제안한다. 제안된 마이크로 그리드 운전 제어 전략은 PSiM 시뮬레이션으로 검증하였다.

  • UAVs for reconnaissance and intelligence operations require long endurance capability, which demands high efficiency of the propulsion system. The distributed propulsion system(DPS) generates the thrust by replacing a large propulsion system with a number of small propulsion systems. A DPS distributed along the wing span can produce gains in propulsion efficiency by reducing ejection velocity. Also, the ingestion of boundary layers through the distributed DPS inlet and ejecting flow from the outlet can improve the lift to drag ratio of the vehicle. This study investigates the effects of locations and size of the inlet and outlet of the DPS on the blended-wing-body design based on Eppler 337 airfoil, with a CFD tool. The fans in the DPS are modeled as actuator disks for computational efficiency. The best location and aspect ratio of the inlet and outlet are found from lift-to-drag ratio and pitching moment considerations.

A Design of Greenhouse Control Algorithm with the Multiple-Phase Processing Scheme (다중 위상 처리구조를 갖는 온실 복합환경제어 알고리즘 설계)

  • This study designs and validates a greenhouse complex environmental control algorithm with a multi-phase processing scheme that can combine and control actuators according to the degree of change in the greenhouse environment. The composite environmental control system is a system in which the complex environmental controller analyzes the information detected by sensors and operates appropriately actuators to maintain the crop growth environment. A composite environmental controller directs control devices driving actuators through a composite environmental control algorithm, which calculates the values necessary for the operation of the control devices. Most existing algorithms carry out control procedures on a single phase by iteration cycle, which can cause abnormal changes in the greenhouse environment due to errors in output. The proposed algorithm distributes control procedures over multiple phases: environmental control, environmental control, and device operation, and every iteration cycle, detects environmental changes in the environmental control phase first, and then combines control devices that can control the environment in the environmental control phase, and finally, performs the controls to derive the actuators in the device operation phase. The proposed algorithm is designed based on the analysis of the relationship between greenhouse environmental elements and control devices deriving actuators. According to verification analysis, the multi-phase processing scheme provides room to modify or supplement the setting value and enables the control devices to reflect changes in the associated environmental components.

Data Acquisition System Applying TMO for GIS Preventive Diagnostic System (GIS 예방진단시스템을 위한 TMO 응용 데이터 수집 시스템)

  • GIS is used to isolate large power electrical equipment using SF6 gas. While GIS has simple structure, it has few break down, relatively high reliability. But it is hard to check up faults for reason of pressure. Faults of GIS should have a ripple effect on community and be hard to recovery. Consequently, GIS imports a preventive diagnostic system to find internal faults in advance. It is most important that reliability on the GIS preventive diagnostic system, because it estimates abnormality of system by analysis result of collected data. But, exist system which used central data management is low efficiency, and hard to guarantee timeliness and accuracy of data. To guarantee timeliness and accuracy, the GIS preventive diagnostic system needs accordingly to use a real-time middleware. So, in this paper, to improve reliability of the GIS preventive diagnostic system, we use a middleware based on TMO for guaranteeing timeliness of real-time distributed computing. And we propose an improved GIS preventive diagnostic system applying data acquisition, monitoring and control methods based on the TMO model. The presented system uses the Communication Control Unit(CCU) for distributed data handling which is supported by TMO. CCU can improve performance of the GIS preventive diagnostic system by guaranteeing timeliness of data handling process and increasing reliability of data through the TMO middleware. And, it has designed to take full charge of overload on a data acquisition task had been processed in an exist server. So, it could reduce overload of the server and apply distribution environment from now. Therefore, the proposed system can improve performance and reliability of the GIS preventive diagnostic system and contribute to stable operation of GIS.
