Numerical Simulation on a Reacting Flow Field with Various Injection conditions (소형가스터빈용 인젝터의 분무 특성에 따른 반응 유동장 전산 해석)

  • This work shows the result of numerical simulation on a reacting flow by varying atomization properties which can be obtained from a injector for a small and low power aircraft gas turbine engine. Because the atomization properties mainly affect on the performance of the engine, a lot of efficiency tests are needed when a new injector is developed. Nowadays researches has been actively performed using computational analysis. Using commercial package CFD-ACE+, basic studies on the reacting flow field have been conducted. Those results show that the reaction rate is increased when higher pressure and wider angle spray condition are used. More smaller parcels can also enhance the fuel-air reaction.

  • Numerical simulations of closed-type and open-type single injectors were conducted to investigate the flow characteristics of a swirl-coaxial injector used in a liquid rocket engine. Numerical analysis was conducted using a commercial program ANSYS FLUENT. The injectors has three models with different recess length. Numerical analysis was conducted to investigate the variation of the flow characteristics of the injector when the flow condition were changed. It was also compare and analyzed with experimental results. The results obtained from the numerical simulation show that the difference between the inlet pressure and the discharge coefficient is not significant.

Characteristics of the Transverse Fuel Injection into a Supersonic Crossflow using Various Injector Geometries (분사구 형상에 따른 초음속 유동장 내 수직 연료 분사 특성)

  • In this study, computational simulation was performed to investigate the characteristics of air/fuel mixing according to the shape of the injector exit when the transverse jet was injected into a supersonic flow. Non-reacting flow simulation was conducted with fixed mass flow rate and the same cross-sectional area. To validate the results, free stream Mach number and jet-to-crossflow memetum ratio are set to 3.38 and 1.4, respectively, which is same as the experimental condition. Further, separation region, structure of the under-expended jet, jet penetration height, and flammable region of hydrogen for five different injectors compared.

  • An analytic approach to determine the optimal conditions for maximizing altitude of a sounding rocket is suggested. The behavior of the one-dimensional momentum equation including thrust, gravitational force and aerodynamic drag force is investigated. For the case where an analytic solution exists, a characteristic equation for determining optimal condition for maximizing altitude at the burn-out state and that for maximizing altitude at the stationary state are developed and verified with numerical experiments.

  • In this paper, heat transfer changes due to the shock/boundary layer interaction were investigated on surfaces where secondary jet are injected. With an infra-red thermography, surface temperature was measured and the measured data was used to obtain the convective heat transfer. Heat transfer is enhanced with increment of momentum ratio. And normal injection case has a higher heat transfer value than that of 15 degrees inclined injection case. Secondary injection momentum ratio and injection angle affect the surface heat transfer distribution.

연소실 냉각을 위한 충돌제트/유출냉각기법에서의 열전달특성

  • 충돌/유출냉각은 연소실 벽면 등과 같이 열부하가 많이 걸리는 영역에서 고온의 연소가스로부터 표면을 보호하는 막냉각과 더불어 내부에 다공성 판을 설치하여 충돌제트에 의해 내부표면을 냉각시켜 가스터빈엔진의 고온요소의 냉각성능을 극대화시키는 방법 중의 하나이다. 이와 같은 냉각방법을 적용하면 벽면을 충돌제트에 의한 냉각과 함께 냉각유채를 막냉각에 활용함으로써 냉각효율을 극대화할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 국소적인 값들을 획득하기 용이한 물질전달실험방법의 하나인 나프탈렌 승화법을 이용하여 수직으로 분사되는 충돌제트에 의한 유출판 내면에서의 열/물질전달특성을 분사판(injection plate)과 유출판(effusion plate) 사이의 높이, 분사제트의 속도, 분사홀간의 배열을 변화시켜가며 유출판만이 있는 경우와 비교, 분석하였다. 분사홀과 유출홀의 관 사이의 간격은 0.33d에서 10d까지 변화시켜가며 그 효과를 관찰하였으며, 홀배열 효과를 보기 위하여 2가지 홀배열(staggered array, shifted array)에 대하여 실험하였다. 또한 분사제트의 속도효과를 고찰하기 위하여 분사제트의 Rc$_{d}$=5,000-12,000까지 변화시켜가며 실험을 수행하였다.

  • The design of coaxial porous injector was suggested to improve the mixing and atomizing performance at the center region of the conventional 2-phase flow coaxial shear injector spray. Several cold flow tests of 2-dimensional injectors was performed, and the gas injection area was varied to determine the effect of the magnitude of gas radial momentum.

  • Experiments to investigate the mixing performance of unlike doublet impinging jets are conducted. Reynolds number of simulants used in this study rages from 1.0 to 1.5 Cold flow test is performed to investigate the hydrodynamic effect and spray of the impinging jets are collected locally and calculated by using Rupe's mixing efficiency equation. Momentum exchanges and relative velocity ratio between two jets are taken as the main parameter to represent the effect of enlargement of the orifice diameter. As diameter ratio increases, the corresponding momentum ratio where maximum mixing efficiency occurs and relative velocity at the maximum mixing efficiency ranges 0.6 to 0.7, respectively. Penetration depth can be taken as a prominent parameter to estimate the mixing efficiency.

  • Spray characteristics of liquid jets in crossflow, which can be observed in the liquid jet injection system of a gas turbine or ramjet engine, were experimentally investigated. By measuring liquid jet penetration in the case of single orifice and double orifice injectors, the experimental formula for jet penetration was modified to consider penetration distances greater than that considered in a previous study. The changes in spray characteristics resulting from changes in the liquid jet and crossflow pressure, including SMD and jet disintegration, were carefully studied. Specifically, the jet penetration was measured for different injector shapes, and in the case of a double orifice injector, the penetration of the rear orifice jet was found to be greater by approximately 20% ($L_h$ = 4 mm) compared to that in the case of a single orifice injector because of the influence of the front orifice.

  • The GCSC injectors studied in this paper are those applied to the combustion chamber of staged combustion engines. Liquid fuel is injected through tangential holes along the outer wall of the GCSC injector forming a swirling sheet and oxygen rich gas generated by a preburner enters axially through the center orifice of the injector to form a gaseous jet. The spray characteristics of GCSC injectors under ambient/high pressure conditions and the effect of recess on spray characteristics have been examined in this paper. These results are expected to be used as fundamental data to develop of a staged combustion engine.
