Real-time Spray Painting using Rays and Texture Map (레이와 텍스처 기법을 이용한 실시간 스프레이 페인팅)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop realistic painting simulation in real-time as well as to represent the thickness of the deposited paint on the surface. The Gaussian model is used for a painting deposition model to calculate the thickness of paints. For a painting simulation, rather than implementing particle systems, we propose a new heuristic algorithm for painting process based on a few number of rays. After we find the collision points of the rays with an environment, we compute the painted area using flood-fill searching method on the texture map and visualize paint effects. We analyzed time complexity of our method to verify that our system is suitable for real-time VR applications.

  • The properties of new porous carbon materials "Woodceramics" are affected by the characteristics of raw boards. To investigate of density profile and resin contents in impregnated boards, control board and 3 types of steam-injected boards were made by steam injection time, The wood species used for manufacturing boards was Sugi(Cryptomeria japonica). The results are as follows: 1) The density gradient of board after 10 minutes steam injection was the smallest and non-steamed board was largest. 2) The resin content and dimensional rise decreased with increase of board density, and were the largest in board after 10minutes steam injection but there was little difference between boards after 5 and 10 minutes steam injection.

  • The experiment on the liquid jet in crossflow in supersonic BFS (backward-facing step) flow was conducted to investigate the mixing characteristics. The working fluids are nitrogen and water. The shadow graph technique was used to visualize the flow field. Images captured by the high-speed camera were applied to analyze the flow phenomena. The liquid jet was injected at the re-circulation zone created by the supersonic jet flow. Experimental conditions are defined based on the pressure of the nitrogen gas chamber and pressurized liquid tank. In respective cases, the penetration depth of liquid jet and location of the Mach disc were observed to be proportional to the momentum ratio of gas and liquid jets.

  • Jet grouting method is widely being used in many geotechnical problems, especially for the purpose of reinforcement of clayey ground and cut-off wall of sandy ground. However, its design depends on highly empirical method, in which many researches have been undertaken. This study investigated the effect of cavitation on jet grouting. Small-scaled model tests were carried out using specially designed and fabricated device to analyze the effect of cavitation on jet grouting with various test conditions including ground condition, injection pressure, and injection time. The test results show that cavitation has a significant effect on jet grouting, and it has a potential for engineering application.

  • The hybrid rocket shows interesting characteristics of complicated mixing layer developed by the interaction between turbulent oxidizer flow and injected surface mass flow from fuel vaporization. In this study, the compressible LES was conducted to explore the physical phenomena of surface oscillatory flow induced by the flow interferences in a duct domain. From the numerical results, the wall injection generates the stronger streamwise vorticites and the negative components of axial velocity accompanied with the azimuthal vorticity near the surface. And the vortex shedding with a certain time scale was found to be developed by hydrodynamic instability in the mixing layer. The pressure fluctuations in this calculation exhibit a peculiar peak at a specific angular frequency($\omega$=8.8) representing intrinsic oscillation due to the injection.

  • This paper focuses on the modelling of common rail diesel injector using the AMESim code and shows the appropriateness of the developed model. For the developed injector model, simulations are carried out to analyze the behavior characteristics of the injector for the variations of injector model parameters such as orifice diameters, rail pressures, and energizing times. Simulation results show that the diameters of inlet and outlet orifices have close relation with injection quantity. Increment of rail pressure and energizing time provides increment of injection quantity, and simulated energizing time map shows injection characteristics of the common rail injector.

  • Rapid mixing of air-fuel (<1 ms) is needed to accomplish supersonic combustion. In this experiment, helium was injected laterally in to the Mach 1.92 air flow. 2 kinds of model, flat plate/cavity, were used in this experiment and images were taken by schlieren visualization. Pressure was affected by shock structure in the supersonic duct, and penetration height was increased by increasing J. Penetration height was higher in the cavity model than flat plate model.

  • Fuel injection system is very important in diesel combustion. Recently electronic control of fuel injection system and common rail systems are introduced to reduce the emission and to increase the energy efficiency from diesel engine by control of the injection timing and duration. In this study, evaluation possibility of the system for electronic control by spool valve, one of the accumulator type injection systems with spool valve using solenoid was composed and the operating characteristics were investigated to evaluate the effects of spring coefficient, initial spring force, solenoid driving time, fuel supply pressure on the injection timing and duration. We could confirm the capability that diesel injection was electronically controlled by spool valve.

  • The post injection effect to enhance aftertreatment devices' performance is essential to meet future stringent emission standards by controlling exhaust gas temperature and emission pollutants.   • Generally fuel injection system using solenoid have some problems between control signal and mechanical movement like as time lag. Main purpose of the present study is to help the design optimization of GDSI for real engine application. We have adopted two different solenoid driving circuit, namely saturation and pick-hold type and have investigated experimentally the current, needle force, needle opening duration and injection quantity. The pick-hold type driving circuit surpassed a saturation type in the response time and pression control of injection quantity. Accordingly, Using characterization data of operating factors such as time constant, driving force and so on, can be evaluated and adjusted to obtain an optimum injector performance.
