  • Tin oxide films deposited by spray pyrolysis have defects and preferred orientations according to the temperature of substrate. The growth of crystalline deposits began at the substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$. With increasing substrate temperature the plane (200) groved preferentially and above $400^{\circ}C$, planes of higher indices. Grain size increased with increasing substrate temperature up to $400^{\circ}C$. Undoped film is composed of Sn and O, and contains oxygen vacancies. Film doped with antimony has defects such as oxygen vacancies, antimony substituted on Sn and chlorine on oxygen.

  • This study describes how successfully a conventional flame aerosol synthesis was used to continuously synthesize Pt-Ru catalysts supported by carbon agglomerates. Nearly spherical catalysts produced in the flame were mainly composed of metallic Pt and Ru with the molar ratio of 1:1 and those sizes were controllable from ~1.5 nm to ~2.0 nm. Nevertheless, only Pt peaks were found from X-ray diffraction experiments, suggesting that amorphous-like Ru was well mixed in the crystalline Pt lattices. It was found from Cyclo-voltamograms and CO stripping experiments that the electrochemical properties of the catalysts are at least comparable to that of a conventional commercial sample.

  • A remarkable improvement of the productivity in barium titanate by slurry spray pyrolysis process was realized by supplying solid source slurry into the rector. The produced barium titanate powders showed uniform powder properties, and reproducibility with higher tetragonality in the range of 80$\sim$200 nm, case by case. The secondary calcination experiments of the as-prepared powders by spray pyrolysis revealed that the powders as-prepared over 700$^{\circ}C$ showed perfectly different behavior with the lower temperature's ones and the solid state reaction’s case. The result was discussed in terms of the reaction mechanism based on the activation energy analysis.

  • The preparation conditions of $YBO_3$:Eu phosphor particles having the maximum photoluminescence intensity under vacuum ultraviolet in the spray pyrolysis were optimized. The $YBO_3$:Eu phosphor particles prepared from spray solution with stoichiometric amount of boric acid had the maximum photoluminescence intensity. The $YBO_3$:Eu phosphor particles with pure phases were formed at low post-treatment temperatures because of fast reaction of yttrium and boron components without volatilization of boron component. The prepared $YBO_3$:Eu phosphor particles by spray pyrolysis had fine size, narrow size distribution and regular morphology. The photoluminescence intensity of the prepared $YBO_3$:Eu phosphor particles under vacuum ultraviolet was 103% of the commercial $(Y,Gd)BO_3$:Eu phosphor particles.

  • Agglomeration-free indium oxide particles were produced by ultrasonic pyrolysis of indium nitrate(3 hy-drate) solution. Th mean size of particles was increased from 3 $\mu\textrm{m}$ to 11$\mu\textrm{m}$ with increasing intial con-centrations of indium nitrate from 0.05mol% to 4.83 mol% When the input rate of indium nitrate solution was increased from 0.1 cm3/min to 0.8cm3/min the size of particles remained same and only the pro-duction rate of particles was increased. At 300$^{\circ}C$ the particles were white color with low crystallinity. But the color turned into yellow with increasing reaction temperature. The change of particle size was not ob-served with increasing temperatuer up to 700$^{\circ}C$ IR spectrum and TGA analysis confirmed that the purity of indium oxide was increased with temperature of reaction.

  • $RU_{1-x}Ir_xO_2$ films were deposited on the quartz substrate by a spray pyrolysis method. The x-ray diffraction patterns showed that the structure of the $RU_{1-x}Ir_xO_2$ film was tetragonal and the lattice constant $a_o$ and $c_o$ were increased from 4.495 A to 4.058 A and from 3.092A to 3.156 A, respectively as the Ir composition varied from 0.0 to 1.0. The $RU_{1-x}Ir_xO_2$ film was metallic and the resistivity of the samples was increased from $7{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}\textrm{cm}$ to $48{\times}10^{-5}{\Omega}\textrm{cm}$ with increasing the Ir x. The surface of the sample was slightly roughed, the grain size and the grain boundary width were increased as the Ir composition varied from 0.0 to 1.0.

  • Pt-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Pt) films were deposited by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. Resistivity variation with Pt concentration was measured. The Pt distribution in ZnO:Pt films was studied through Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). The ZnO:Pt films were annealed in the ambient of air, water vapor and ozone, respectively. The variation in crystallographic properties and surface morphologies with respect to the annealing condition was observed by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The resistivity variation of the films with the annealing condition was measured. Finally, Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) measurements were carried out to study the effects of the annealing on the roughness of ZnO:Pt films.

  • $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ phosphor particles were prepared by a flame spray pyrolysis method. It has been generally known that the high-temperature flame enables fast drying and decomposition of droplets. In the present investigation, the morphology and luminescent property of $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ phosphor were controlled in a severe flame preparation condition. The particle formation in the flame spray pyrolysis process was achieved by the droplet-to-particle conversion without any evaporation of precursors, which made it possible to obtain spherical $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles of a pure phase from a droplet. Using colloidal solutions wherein dispersed nano-sized silica particles were adopted as a silicon precursor. $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles with spherical shape and filled morphology were prepared and the spherical morphology was maintained even after the high-temperature heat treatment, which is necessary to increase the photoluminescence intensity. The $Zn_{2}SiO_{4}:Mn$ particles with spherical shape, which were prepared by the flame spray pyrolysis and posttreated at $1150^{\circ}C$, showed good luminescent characteristics under vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation.
