An Investigation on the Spray Characteristics of DME with Variation of Nozzle Holes Diameter using the Common Rail Fuel Injection System (인젝터 노즐 홀 직경의 변화에 따른 DME 커먼레일 연료 분사 시스템의 분무 특성에 관한 연구 II)

  • DME spray characteristics were investigated about varied ambient pressure and fuel injection pressure using the DME common rail fuel injection system when the nozzle holes diameter is varied. The common rail fuel injection system with DME cooling system was used since DME has properties of compressibility and vaporization in atmospheric temperature. The fuel injection quantity and spray characteristics were measured. The spray analysis parameters were spray shape, penetration length, and spray angle at six nozzle holes. Three types of injector were used, the nozzle holes diameter were 0.166 mm (Injector 1), 0.250 mm (Injector 2), and 0.250 mm with enlargement of orifice hole from 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm (Injector 3). The fuel injection pressure was varied by 5MPa from 35 to 70MPa when the ambient pressure was varied 0, 2.5, and 5MPa. When using Injector 3 in comparison to the others, the DME injection quantity was increased 1.69 ~ 2.02 times. Through this, it had the similar low heat value with diesel which was injected Injector 1. Among three types of injector, Injector 3 had the fastest development velocity of penetration length. In case of spray angle, Injector 2 had the largest spray angle. Through these results, only the way enlargement the nozzle holes diameter is not the solution of DME low heat value problem.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the injection characteristics of 800 kPa compressed natural gas compressed natural gas (CNG) injector developed in Korea. The CNG injector with multi-holes, employed in this experiment, was designed to inject CNG in the manifold at high pressure of 800 kPa. The spray macroscopic visualization test was carried out via Schlieren photography to study fuel-air mixing process. The fundamental spray characteristics, such as spray penetration, spray cone angle and spray velocity, were evaluated in the constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) with varying the constant back pressure in CVCC from 0 to 1.8 bar. For the safety reason, nitrogen ($N_2$) and an acetone tracer were utilized as a surrogate gas fuel instead of CNG. The surrogate gas fuel pressures were controlled at 3, 5.5, and 8 bar, respectively. Injection durations were set at 5 ms throughout the experiment. The simulating events of the low engine speed were arranged at 1,000 rpm. The spray images were recorded by using a high-speed camera with a frame rate of 10,000 f/s at $512{\times}256pixels$. The spray characteristics were analyzed by using the image processing (Matlab). The results showed the significant difference that higher injection pressure had more effect on the spray shape than the lower injection pressure. When the injection pressure was increased, the longer spray penetration occurred. Moreover, the linear relation between speed and time are dependent on the injection pressure as well.

  • It is investigated of the DME spray characteristics about varied ambient pressure and fuel injection pressure using the common rail fuel injection system when the nozzle holes diameter is varied. The common rail fuel injection system and fuel cooling system is used since DME has compressibility and vaporization in atmospheric temperature. The fuel injection quantity and spray characteristics were measured. The spray was analyzed of spray shape, penetration length, and spray angle at the six nozzle holes. The 2 types injector were used, the one was 0.166 mm diameter the other one was 0.250 mm diameter. The ambient pressure which is based on gage pressure was 0 MPa, 2.5 MPa, and 5 MPa. The fuel injection pressure was varied by 5 MPa from 35 MPa to 70 MPa. When using the converted injector, compared to using the common injector, the DME injection quantity was increased 127 % but it didn't have the same heat release. Both of the common and converted injector had symmetric spray shapes. In case of converted injector, there were asymmetrical spray shapes until 1.2 ms, but after 1.2 ms the spray shape was symmetrical. Compared with the common and converted injector, the converted injector had shorter penetration length and wider spray angle than the common injector.

  • Dimethyl ether (DM) is one of the most attractive alternative fuel far compression ignition engine. Its main advantage in diesel engine application is high efficiency of diesel cycle with soot free combustion though conventional fuel injection system has to be modified due to the intrinsic properties of DME. Experimental study of DME and conventional diesel spray employing a common-rail type fuel injection system with a 5-holes sac type injector (hole diameter 0.168 ㎜/hole) was performed in a high pressure chamber pressurized with nitrogen gas. A CCD camera was employed to capture time series of spray images followed by spray cone angles and penetrations of DME were characterized and compared with those of diesel. Under atmospheric pressure condition, regardless of injection pressure, spray cone angles of the DME were wider than those of diesel and penetrations were shorter due to flash boiling effect. Tip of the DME spray was farmed in mushroom like shape at atmospheric chamber pressure but it was disappeared in higher chamber pressure. On the contrary, spray characteristics of the DME became similar to that of diesel under 3MPa of chamber pressure. Hole-to-hole variation of the DME spray was lower than that of diesel in both atmospheric and 3MPa chamber pressures. At 25MPa and 40MPa of DME injection pressures, regardless of chamber pressure, intermittent DME spray was observed. It was thought that vapor lock inside the injector was generated under the two injection pressures.

김치의 저장성에 미치는 포장내 표면처리 효과

  • 알코올 분무, 셀로판지 부착 등의 표면처리가 포장김치의 표면갈변과, pH, 산도, 균수 및 관능적 품질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 실험에 사용된 포장김치는 200 g 들이 플라스틱 용기에 김치를 담은 후 무처리, 70% 알코올로 표면을 1회 분무한 것, 김치표면에 폴리에틸렌필름(두께 0.04 mm)을 부착하여 저장실 (10$\pm$1$^{\circ}C$)에서 21일간 저장하면서 3일 간격으로 조사하였다. 그 결과, 무처리와 알코올을 분무한 경우는 저장 15일째에 pH가 4.0수준에 도달하였으나 김치표면에 polyethylene film을 부착한 경우는 21일째까지도 pH가 4.0 이상을 유지하였다. 산도의 경우도 pH와 동일한 경향을 나타내어 polyethylene film으로 표면처리함으로서 김치의 숙성이 지연되었다. 무처리와 알코올을 처리한 것은 12일째부터 김치표면이 갈변하기 시작하였으며 18일째는 그 갈변정도가 심하였다. 그러나 polyethylene film을 표면에 부착한 경우는 저장 21일째까지도 갈변정토가 미약하였다. 저장기간에 따른 총균수의 변화는 무처리와 알코올을 처리한 경우가 polyethylene film을 부착한 경우에 비하여 증가폭이 컸으나 젖산균수는 반대로 polyethylene film을 부착한 경우가 무처리 또는 알코올을 분무한 경우에 비하여 높아 김치의 품질이 양호하였다. 무처리와 알코올을 분무한 김치의 표면에는 저장 15일 이후에 산막표모 및 곰팡이의 균사체가 번식하는 김치도 발견되었다. 처리별 이미 및 이취의 발생정도를 조사한 결과 무처리와 알코올을 처리한 경우는 저장 15일경에 특히 용기 표면에 위치하는 김치에서 이미와 이취가 있었으나 polyethylene film을 부착한 경우는 이미와 이취가 전혀 나타나지 않았다.채반에 넣고 밀도를 측정한 결과 1.002g/㎤을 나타냈다. 즉 물의 이론밀도인 1g/㎤에 근접한 값을 보여 정확한 밀도 계측이 가능한 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 밀도 계측시스템의 측정 반복간 정밀도를 파악하기 위해 수박 6개를 임으로 선정하여 3반복 측정 시험한 결과, 측정표준편차가 0.001~0.004g/㎤로 해상도보다는 다소 높았으나 대체로 양호한 결과를 나타냈다. 수박 35개를 이용하여 개발 계측시스템과 사람이 직접 부력법으로 밀도를 측정 비교한 결과, 계측시스템에 의해 측정된 수박 밀도가 사람이 측정했을 때 보다 낮게 측정되었다. 수박의 외관인자(무게, 길이, 직경, 체적), 밀도와 당도의 상관관계 구명시험을 위해 원예연구소 시험포장에서 재배된 삼복꿀수박 총 74개를 공시재료로 하였고, 시험은 출수일별로 10~14개씩 수확하여 외관인자, 밀도, 당도를 각각 측정하고, 이들 인자들간의 상관관계를 구명하였다. 외관인자들간에는 높은 상관관계를 보였으나, 외관인자들과 밀도, 외관인자들과 당도, 밀도와 당도와는 매우 낮은 상관관계를 나타냈다. 점성에 영향을 미치는 가장 주요한 조건이라고 생각된다.환원당인 sucrose 함량은 계속 증가하였고 fructose, glucose, sorbitol의 함량(추황의 sorbitol을 제외)은 생장이 촉진됨에 따라 증가하다가 다시 점차적으로 감소하였다. 이러한 결과는 총당과 환원당의 측정결과와 일치한 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 배의 성장에 따라 산 함량은 감소하였고 당 함량은 증가하였다.luco-pyranoside, quercetin 7-O- -glucopyranoside, acacetin 7-O-$\beta$-D-glucuronide and apigenin-6-C-$\beta$-D-glucopyranosyl-8-C-$\b

Selection of Optimum Closed Hydroponic System for Production of Echinacea spp. (Echiacea 속 식물에 적합한 수경재배 시스템 선발)

  • This experiment was conducted to select optimum hydroponic systems for clean and mass production for shoot and root of Echinacea. E. purpurea and E. angustifolia. were grown at 5 different kinds of hydroponic systems; NFT, modified NFT, DFT, aeroponics, and Ebb & Flow for 150 days. The lowest photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate were in Ebb & Flow system in E. purpurea and E. angustifolia at 120 days after transplanting. The shoot fresh and dry weight were high in aeroponic and DFT system of E. angustifolia and in aeroponic and NFT system of E. purpurea at 150 days after transplanting. The root fresh and dry weight of both species were the highest in aeroponic system and next to modified NFT system. They were increased in NFT and Ebb & Flow system for the root length and in aeroponic system for the number of tillering. The results demonstrate that aeroponic system was the most effective for enhancement shoot and root biomass of Echinacea spp. in hydroponics.

Combustion Performance of a Pintle Injector Rocket Engine with Canted Slit Shape by Characteristic Length and Total Momentum Ratio (Canted Slit 형상의 핀틀 인젝터 로켓엔진의 특성길이와 운동량비에 따른 연소성능)

  • In this study, a pintle injector rocket engine which uses kerosene and liquid oxygen as propellants was manufactured by collecting basic design data and establishing a design procedure. Combustion performance of the liquid rocket engine was investigated by characteristic velocity efficiency with characteristic length of the combustion chamber and total momentum ratio. As a result of hot fire tests, it showed that the engine had shorter characteristic length comparing to those of other type injectors, which was known as recommended value with the propellant combination. Also, the characteristic velocity efficiency was greatly affected by total momentum ratio and almost constant within 1.0~1.5.

Effects of Auxin and Fog Treatments on the Green-Wood Cutting of the Mature Trees in Prunus yedoensis (왕벚나무 성숙목의 녹지삽목에서 Auxin 및 Fog 처리 효과)

  • In an attempt to develop an efficient method for the propagation of mature Prunus yedoensis (45 to 55 years old), green wood cuttings from normal branch and sprouts branch were treated with three different kinds of auxin (Rootone < 1-naphthylacetamide 0.4% >, IBA 100 ppm, and control and two different kinds of fog systems (0.9 L/min. and 0.54 L/min.). The Rootone treatment showed higher values in the percentage of rootings (PR) and the mean number of roots per cutting (NR) than the IBA treatment in the early stage. However, in the late stage, the values of PR and NR in the Rootone treatment become lower than those in the IBA 100 ppm treatment. On the other hand, root development ceased 62 days after taking cuttings for all of the treatments. The IBA 100 ppm treatment showed the best performance in root development (PR= 89.5%, NR = 6.5, LR=6.4 cm). The values of PR (76.5%) and NR (6.4) in the 0.9 L/min. of fog treatment was higher than those (PR = 71.7% and NR = 5.4) in the 0.54 L/min. of fog treatment. The cuttings from sprouts (PR: 74.8%, NR: 5.9, LR: 5.7 cm) showed slightly better performance in rooting rate that the cuttings from shoots (PR : 73.3%, NR: 5.9, LR: 5.4 cm). Statistically significant interactions were presented among most of the different combinations of three factors (auxin treatments, fog treatments, and types of cuttings). The PR showed the highest value of 98.0% in the combination of cuttings of shoots+IBA 100 ppm+0.54 L/min. fog treatments. In case of NR, the cuttings from normal branch showed a higher value than the cuttings from sprouts branch under the fog treatment of 0.9 L/min., while this tendency was reversed under the fog treatment of 0.54 L/min.. The perigon development of roots, which reflects the number and the direction of roots, was best in the IBA treatment (85.6%).

  • Important characteristics of impinging sprays intersected by a strongly convective gaseous cross flows were experimentally investigated. The breakup processes due to different Weber and Reynolds numbers of liquid and gas streams were visually examined with quantitative measurements of breakup lengths, penetration heights, and droplet sizes. Snapshot images and spay data evidenced that, at lower jet Reynolds number the breakup processes portrays the atomization profiles similar to typical column breakup of single orifice jet. At higher jet Reynolds numbers, disintegration of jet stream is significantly expedited by strong momentum transported from strongly convective gaseous stream. The breakup length and penetration height decreased as the convective flow increase. From the bottom the wall up, the SMD measured the centerline increase. The maximum SMD appeared the top of the SMD distribution
