  • In the case of structural analysis for building structures, the super-structure and the sub-structure are analyzed by using separate structural models in the field because of time saving, facile result interpretation and easy analysis of dynamic behavior. However this separate structural model violated the compatibility condition of structural analysis and it can not consider the interaction of superand sub- structures. In the present study, the analysis results of this separate model were compared to those of the unified model of super- and sub- structures which can consider the interaction of super- and sub- structures and reflect the realistic boundary conditions. According to the comparison results, the the analysis model using separate models can underestimate the member force and deflection of structural members in the super-structures and overestimate the deflection and member force of sub-structures. Therefore, in the case of high-rise buildings, irregular shaped buildings, buildings which are expected to be affected by large differential settlement and remodeling buildings, the unified structural model for super- and sub- structures was recommended for structural analysis instead of the separate structural model.

  • The base isolation technique and its benefits in reducing the transmitted earthquake energy into a structure have gained increasing recognition during the last two decades. Unfortunately, the current available design procedures, especially for base-isolated bridges, seem inadequate and too restrictive. As a result, practical design procedure still relies upon a series of deterministic time history analyses. In this study, the evaluation of the possibility of the normal mode method to predict the nonlinear seismic responses of base isolated bridges has been performed. The applicability has been examined through the numerical approach with isolator's elastic or plastic states of the base isolated bridges. Numerical results show that the 1st. mode period and the various responses are varied with the state but are conversed. And, the result show that the normal mode method is applicable to predict the seismic responses and to design the babe isolated bridge. Various analysis method to bridges with bilinearized hysteresis isolator and various pier heights are evalulated.

  • Separation motion analysis of staging system is conducted using combined analysis programs, which include unsteady aerodynamic analysis codes and dynamic motion analysis tools. In this study, the analysis is for the long-rang missile staging system. The purpose of this study is to verify the safety and reliance of the proposed staging system, and to find out the influence of angle of attack perturbation on staging. A structured parallel overset mesh called Chimera grid is used for the simulation of unsteady supersonic Euler flow solver. In addition, unsteady dynamic simulations are also performed.

  • This study presents the feasibility of CFD(computational fluid dynamic) analysis using the flow angularity wind tunnel test technique. The CFD analyzed data by the flow angularity technique has been constructed as the database to get store trajectories by 6-DOF simulation. The database has been checked out store aerodynamic coefficients by the analyses at each position under wing. After that process, the simulated trajectories by database have been compared with the store trajectories by CTS(Captive Trajectory Simulation) of CFD. The trajectories provided by the database of flow angularity have a good agreement with the store trajectories by CFD.

  • A numerical investigation of the stage separation behavior of two-body vehicle focusing on its flow characteristics were carried out. For this simulation, separation of a booster from vehicle was modeled by a chimera grid system and calculated by using commercial code, CFD-FASTRAN$^{TM}$. Consideration of a spring force, gravity and relative acceleration of a booster was the essential factor that simulates the realistic situation. In this study, It was validated that the booster separation time decreases with increase in flight mach number and angle of attack. In view of the results so far achieved, it was expected that the dynamics modeling and boundary condition set up applied in this study will be helpful in a estimation of a safe stage separation and event sequence of flight test.

  • In this study, aerodynamic coefficients obtained from Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) using wind tunnel test-like method is compared with coefficients obtained by actual wind tunnel test. Unsteady analysis has performed with using harmonic equation for motion of the external store. Aerodynamic database is generated based on CFD results to simulate 6 degree-of-freedom store separation analysis. Trajectory is obtained from simulation using both CFD-based and test-based database, and results are compared with trajectory from flight test result. It is concluded that generation of database based on CFD with wind tunnel test technique is valid from good agreement of the trajectory.

  • In this paper, nonlinear transonic flutter analyses of a composite missile fin considering the effect of delamination are conducted. An effective modal analysis methodology is adopted and verified with the experimental modal test data for laminated composite plates with delamination. Extended version of the in-house computational aeroelastic analysis program with the transonic small-disturbance (TSD) code is used in order to predict the flutter dynamic pressure of the delaminated composite fin models. In the subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flow regions, nonlinear time-domain flutter analyses are performed for various delamination conditions, and aeroelastic characteristics due to the delamination phenomena are examined in detail.
