  • This study investigated Korean diaspora literature with the bilingual feature, which was published in a local language other than Korean, focusing on literature classification status in domestic library's materials. As a result of the investigation, domestic universities and public libraries that owned the diaspora literature materials were classifying the original work by the languages or focusing on the author's work. Nowadays, the Literature classification codes of KDC have on the language of the original work but no code on the author. Nevertheless, domestic libraries were classifying diaspora literature works by the author, not by the language of the original work, so that the same author's works were gathered in one place. This study proposes an option to classify "Korean national literature" that covers Korean diaspora literature and Korean literature into 810 of KDC to resolve the confusion in the classification of Korean diaspora literature. However, this option is a trial proposal for libraries with special needs for Korean diaspora literature classification, and further investigation and research will be necessary to apply this option.

  • North Korea classify literature and art according to some concepts and standards. First, as concepts, North Korea classify Literature and Art in a species and a type. But in 1996, North Korea added third concept, a kind of Genre, Galae. This shows us that North Korea attempts to subdivide Literature and Art in classification. But there are not fixed contents in each type. So we can say that North Korea emphasis on principles of classification and at the same time they have a flexible attitude. Second, as standards, North Korea in 1987 used manner depicted, medium employed, capacity, a literary style, figured plot, quality and in 1992 used manner depicted, medium employed, object depicted, a mission, a function and in 1996 used manner depicted, medium employed, object depicted, a form of plot and in 2007 used manner depicted, medium employed, a scale and a capacity of work, a quality of materials and contents, emotional color of works, and so forth. So we can say that North Korea regard classification as an important thing as a basic work for developed Literature and art in future. And to South Korea, classification means that it could suggest a way for creative work for Literature and Art.

  • Because all the subjects may become the targets of classification, it is necessary to change the enumerated into the faceted scheme. This study is to confirm that possibility of change and to proposed the new faceted structure scheme(faceted classification) based on the Literature. The proposed schemes are : 1) facet structure is simple, 2) meaning of facet is clearness, 3) because using mixed notation, it is complicated.

  • This study is to present improvement plans by examining how Korean literature house websites provide information services. Seventy-nine Korean literature houses out of eighty-eight members of the Korean Literature House Association were studied, except nine that did not construct websites. Three core elements, including website style, literary works information and writer information, together with thirteen sub-elements, were derived from precedent studies. As a result, it was found that 90% of the literature houses were operating websites, but the classification criteria for the literary works and cataloguing rules were not unified, and literature information was not provided sufficiently. Thus, this study suggested improvement plans such as support to build a website, developing cataloging guidelines for literature houses, providing more full-text literature and providing information about literary works and writer.

  • This study seeks to find an organizational method suitable for literary records through a review of the application of records management and an archival exploration of the literary materials of the authors, which are housed in a decentralized collection of domestic literary museums. First, through literature research and case analysis, I explored the "principles of original order" for organizing by characteristics and values of literary records. Next, the organization model was applied to the literature materials of author Jo Jung-rae(1943~) that existed in the form of a 'split-collection' in the local literature museum after drawing a model suitable for organizing literary records as an example. In order to gain an integrated approach to the 'split-collection' by Cho Jung-rae, the research result suggests a model provided through a single gateway by linking descriptive information related to ICA AtoM-based 'Records-Writers-Literature Museum'. The organizational model for the collection of individual literature museum was designed to provide richer collective and contextual information compared to the existing simple list by developing a hierarchical classification system in accordance with the principle of record organizing.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the components of manuscript collection development policy for Korean literary museums through literature review and the comparative analysis of the components of manuscript collection development policies of internal and external literary museums. As the examples of internal literary museums, the private rules of material selection of World Women's Literature Center and collection development policy of National Library of Korea have been studied. As the examples of external literary museums, 14 original collection development policies from British and American literary museums have been analyzed. According to the study results, the 11 basic elements and 14 selective elements were proposed for the manuscript collection development policy of Korean literary museums.
