Branchial cleft cysts are most common neck masses in adults. Most are second branchial cysts, which occur in the neck, anterior to sternocleidomastoid muscle at the mandibular angle. Rarely these cysts may be present in the parapharyngeal space. We report a case of a second branchial cleft cysts in the parapharyngeal space of 32-year-old female, which was misdiagnosed as peritonsillar abscess. It was excised via transoral and transcervical approach.

포항종합제철주식회사(대표 박태준)는 4월 1일로 창립 10주년을 맞이 했다. 1968년 제 2차 경제개발 5개년 계획의 초중점 사업이자 개발도상국으로서는 일대 모험이라고 할 수 있는 일관제철소의 건설사업은 계획단계에서부터 숱한 우여곡절과 난관이 거듭되었다고 한다. 당시 세계은행과 대한경제협력체가 한국에서의 종합제철 사업계획의 경제적타당성을 부인사고 외채누증으로 상환능력에 문제가 있다고 판단하자, 여기에 유일한 희망을 걸고 있던 KISA(대한 국제제철 차관국)가 와해되어 개발도상국에서의 일관제철소 건설에 강한 집념을 가진 박정희대통령은 대일청구권 자금을 제철공장 건설에 활용하기로 결단을 내리게 되어 비로서 포항제철 건설이 빛을 보게 된 것이다. 창립 10주년을 맞는 오늘의 포항제철은 이제 건설, 조업, 경영의 각분야에서 일찍이 세계철강업계의 유례를 찾아볼 수 없는 기적적인 성과를 실현하여 세계의 기업으로 부상하였으며 국가산업으로서 기대에 넘치는 역할을 수행하여 민족자산 제 1호로서 절대적인 위치를 점하게 된 것이다. 또한 포항제철은 금년 11월에 완성될 조강연산 850만t 체제를 구축함으로써 단위제철소로서는 세계 12위를 점하는 신설 제철소가 된다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of couples' conflict coping styles upon wives' marital adaptation. The results are as follows: First, the most often-used conflict coping style was 'compromise', and the least-used was 'smoothing over', in both cases of husbands and wives. Second, significant differences were found in 'compromise', 'integration', and 'smoothing over' between the cases of husbands and wives. For example, wives used 'compromise' and 'integration' more frequently than husbands, but 'smoothing over' was more often used by husbands. Third, the most important variable that influenced wives' stress and marital satisfaction was husbands' conflict coping styles. Their own conflict coping styles and demographic variables came as the next. Fourth, the only conflict coping style of wives that influenced the stress and the marital satisfaction was 'dominance'. On husbands' side, 'compromise (stress and marital satisfaction)' and 'dominance (marital satisfaction)' functioned as important variables.

본 연구는 제4세대 미터링(Metering) 기술을 이용한 전력전자상거래 즉 VSEM(Value Storage Electricity Meter)을 위한 웹기반 미터링 시스템의 보안성 분석 및 평가에 관한 연구이다. 특히 수요자 측면에서 스마트카드(지불결제)를 이용한 본인 확인(SIM카드), 키 값 확인, VSEM서버에서의 각 수요자와 공급자 데이터 사이의 무결성 확인(Integrity)과 부인 방지(Non-repudiation)를 위한 기존 시스템의 보안 문제를 분석하고 이를 해결할 수 있는 보안 모델을 제안한다.

The purposes of this study were to analyze the family life, farm wort and leisure satisfaction of rural wives in Chonnam district. 300 farmhouses were selected by stratified sampling from 20 Myon in Chonnam district, 283 wives were interviewed using questionnaire. The results are as follow : 1) The level of wives's value perception of agriculture was low. The level of satisfaction of family life was higher than farm and leisure life. The farm satisfaction is the lowest. 2) family environment variables(such as age, education, children number, yearly income, family type, the number of year of house built), variables connected with farm life(major type of agriculture, value perception of agriculture, underdeveloped cause, living period in farm), and variables connected with time use significantly influenced on the life satisfaction. To promote the satisfaction of rural wives various implications were discussed. (Korean J Human Ecology 1(1) : 66∼80, 1998)

현재 우리나라 대학원생 수는 약70개 대학에 6만여명에 달하여 학부학생에 대한 비율은 약 8%이다. 이와같은 대학원생의 양적확대는 질적 저하를 초래한다는 많은 우려도 있으나 아무튼 대학원 교육이 도약의 단계에 들어섰다는 것은 사실이다. 오늘날의 사회발전과 산업의 고도화를 담담하는데 필요한 고급인력, 특히 연구개발 부분의 국제 경쟁력 강화하기 위한 연구인력과 고등교육의 확충에 따른 교수를 비롯한 학자를 양성하여야 하는 대학원의 국가적 사명은 매우 크다. 그러나 문제는 오늘의 대학원 교육이 과연 국가가 필요로 하는 분야에서 기대하는 고급인력의 구실을 할 만큼 충분한 질적 수준에 도달하고 있느냐 하는 것이다. 교육에 임하고 있는 교수는 이러한 기대 역할을 수행하기에 미흡한 상태이며 해결하여야 할 과제가 허다하다는 사실을 누구도 부인할 수 없을 것이다. 그동안 우수한 많은 인재들이 국내 대학원보다 해외 유학의 길을 택하였고, 고급기술인력을 주로 해외에 의존하였다. 그러나 이제는 우리의 손으로 우리의 고급인력을 양성하여야 한다는 자각이 각 학문분야와 산업계에서 열도 높게 일고 있으며 이에 부응하는 대학교육의 질적 향상이 필연적 과제로 부각되고 있다. 이와 같은 시점에서 오늘날 우리 대학원이 안고 있는 문제점을 한정된 지면에 일일이 열거할 수 없으며 필자가 평소 느끼고 있던 몇가지 근본적인 점만을 기술하고자 한다.

올해는 광복 63주년, 건국 60주년이 되는 해다. 대한민국은 건국 초기 1인당 국민소득 50달러를 밑도는 최빈국에서 반세기만에 무려 400배 가까운 신장으로 선진국 문턱에 바짝 다가서는 '한강의 기적'을 일궜다. 경제성장과 민주화라는 두마리 토끼를 성공적으로 잡은 대한민국을 초고속 성장으로 이끈 견인차가 과학기술임을 부인할 수 없다. 1970-80년대의 중화학공업, 1990-2000년대의 전자 및 IT, 생명공학(BT), 자동차.철강.조선 등 우리 경제를 이끌어온 성장 동력의 저변엔 우수 두뇌의 눈부신 활약이 있었다. 무엇보다 갖가지 열악한 여건 아래서도 인력 양성과 산업 입국을 통해 나라를 부강하게 했던 원로들의 눈물겨운 희생과 헌신이 오늘의 우리를 있게 한 것이다. 그러나 그에 대한 점검과 정리는 미흡하다. 공교롭게도 전사회적으로 과학기술계 홀대와 이공계 기피 풍조가 만연하면서 우리는 선진국 문턱에서 주춤거리고 있다. 월간 '과학과 기술'은 이달부터 '과학원로에게 듣는다'를 신설, 지난 60년 동안 우리 과학기술계를 이끌어온 원로들의 활약과 혜안, 그리고 조언을 경청하고자 한다. 그리하여 대한민국이 다시금 성장의 추동력을 받아 온전한 선진국 반열에 들어서는데 일조하게 되기를 간절히 소망한다.

우리는 감성 공학에 기반하여 일상 생활 속에서 비침습적이면서 사용하기 간편한 광전용적맥파신호를 계측하고 분석하는 이어폰형 생체 신호 측정 시스템에 관하여 연구하였다. 생체 신호 측정 시스템에서는 광전용적맥파(photoplethysmograph, PPG)와 3축 가속도로 생체 신호와 운동 신호를 활용하였다. 수신된 생체 신호인 광전용적맥파 신호는 Peak 검출 및 전처리 알고리즘을 통하여 심박동변동성(heart rate Variablity,HRV)에 대한 시계열 정보로 변환하고 고속 퓨리에 변환(Fast Fourier Transfirm, FFT)과 전력 스펙트럼 밀도 분석(Power Spectrum Density, PSD)방법으로 교감과 부교감 신경 활성도 변화를 관측하였고, 운동 센서로 움직임을 관측하였다. 수신부 시스템은 안드로이드 기반의 자바 어플리케이션으로 스마트 폰에서 구현하였고, 송신부인 이어폰 생체정보 측정모듈로 맥파를 측정하여 상황에 따라 변화하는 자율 신경계의 활성도비율을 확인하였다.

Objectives: This study aims to research character of the patients with leukorrhea including Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) and symptoms associated with leukorrhea in view of Korean medicine theory. Methods: We studied 71 patients visiting ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ Korean Hospital from April, 2012 to March, 2013. The subjects were categorized in two groups, leukorrhea group (n=40) and control group (n=31). We investigated the difference of DITI and other physical symptoms between two groups. Results: The average temperature of CV4 in leukorrhea group ($29.56{\pm}0.80^{\circ}C$) were significantly lower than that of control group ($30.12{\pm}0.54^{\circ}C$)(p<0.01). And there is no statistical difference of temperature of CV17 located in chest area between two groups. But temperature difference between CV17 and CV4 (${\Delt}T$) in leukorrhea group ($1.18{\pm}0.55^{\circ}C$) is significantly higher than control group ($0.68{\pm}0.43^{\circ}C$)(p<0.01). There is no correlation between leukorrhea and some sypmtoms, like menorrhea, irregular menstruation, fatigue, constipation and loss of appetite. But leukorrhea group is more likely to suffer from dyspepsia and insomnia than control group. Conclusions: Leukorrhea group is related to lower temperature in lower abdomen than control group. And patients with leukorrhea are more likely to appear dyspepsia and insomnia than no leukorrhea group.

Objectives: This study was designed to investigate the analysis of apoptosis by Scirpi Tuber in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. Methods: For cytotoxic effect of Scirpi Tuber extract, Scirpi Tuber extract were cultured on NIH3T3 cell in vitro. After treatment with various concentration of Scirpi Tuber, cell growth was evaluated in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. Hoechst 33342 staining was performed to estimate DNA fragment effect of Scirpi Tuber on the apoptosis in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. Annexin V/PI apoptosis assay was used to estimate the effects of Scirpi Tuber on the early apoptosis in Hela cell MCF-7 cell. All the stained cells were analyzed by a FACS. RT-PCR was used to estimate the apoptosis gene expression effect of Scirpi Tuber extract on Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. Results: Cytotoxic effect of Scirpi Tuber extract was not found on per NIH3T3 cell. The viability of Hela cell was significantly decreased Scirpi Tuber (500, $1000{\mu}g/m\ell$) in Hela cell 1day, 3day and 5days after treatment (p<0.01). The viability of MCF-7 cell was significantly decresed Scirpi Tuber ($1000{\mu}g/m\ell$) in MCF-7 cell (p<0.01), Scirpi Tuber ($500{\mu}g/m\ell$) in MCF-7 cell only 3days after treatment (p<0.01). In RT-PCR analysis, after treatment of $100{\mu}g/m\ell$ of ACR extract, BCL-2 were decreased and BAX, caspase-3 were increased both in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. DNA fragmentation was observed the Scirpi Tuber on Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. As time goes on DNA fragmentation incresed. In Annexin V/PI apoptosis assay, after treatment of $1mg/m\ell$ of Scirpi Tuber, the early apoptotic cell increased both in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell. As time goes on apoptotic cell increased. Conclusion: Scirpi Tuber appears to have considerable activity on the apoptosis in Hela cell and MCF-7 cell.
