The purpose of this study was to examine ways to improve In-Home Care Service for differences resulting from child care service and parenting stress, depending on use of the service. Participants consisted of hers from 293 who use the service in K region. From September 1, 2009 to October 25, total 193 mothers were surveyed by e-mail. 69 mothers were finally analyzed. The main results were as follows; First, the mothers got the supporting aids from two different ways, irrespective of using In-Home Care Service. One was the instrumental supports given them by their husband and relatives, and the informative and emotional supports maintained by husbands, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and network community, as well. Second, The In-Home Care Service non-users received child care support from their husbands and parents compared with the In-Home Care Service users. Third, few differences shown statistically between the two groups that use it and don't use it.
Modern society has a tendency to raise fewer children. As a result, parents became more interested in their children's creative ways of thinking and began to look for new ways of teaching. The child care support center expects a positive effect by lending various toys and books to improve the physical, emotional and social characteristics of children and to help reduce household burden on parents. In this paper, we design and implement a rental return system to effectively utilize a toy library operated by the child care support center. The proposed system makes it easy for any user to search for items in any branch operated by the Child Care Support Center and to manage loan return records. The administrator can manage data such as loans, returns, and past due from the rental return processing system, and effectively operate the child care support center through statistics of data generated. Children are expected to be given a variety of entertainment cultures and cultural benefits to their families to ease the burden of parenting.
This study aimed to explore the parents'intentions of choosing a residential institution as the future alternative for their children with disabilities after the death of a parent, regarding the recent disability service and policy focusing on the deinstitutionalization of services for people with disabilities. For this purpose, the effects of factors relating to the children with disabilities, families and society on the parents' future plans of residential place and guardians are examined. First, parents of children with disabilities are less likely to choose a residential institution as the future living place for their children when their children have a better communication competence, their families are more positive, and their caring burden is lower, compared to others. Second, parents are less likely to choose a residential institution as the future guarding body for their children when their children could communicate well and their families are positive. This result indicated the communication competence of children with disabilities and the positiveness of families are important factors associating with the future plan decision and the additional support for the prevention of institution arrangement after the death of a parent. Findings are discussed in relation to the importance of future plans of residence and guardians for the life of children with disabilities after the death of parents and the implication for social welfare.
This thesis is to figure out the influences of children's gender, educational level of parents, educational participation of the mother, teaching method of teacher and literacy conditions of home and class on preschool children's school readiness. The objects of this study are 141 preschool children under 5 years old, 141 parents and 42 class teachers. Test for School Readiness, Measure of Mother's Educational Participation, Measure of Teacher's Teaching Method, and Measures of Literacy Condition of Home and Class are used as a studying tool. Collected materials were analyzed by Three-way ANOVA, Correlation analysis of Spearman, product-moment correlation analysis of Pearson, and phased regression analysis. The results are as follows: First, there are meaningful differences between the gender of children and mother's educational level for the school readiness. Second, except for the home's literacy condition, children's gender, educational level of parents, educational participation of mother, teaching method of teacher and literacy conditions of class show the meaningful positive correlation with the children's school readiness. Third, the adaptive zone, which is the subordinated zone, is affected by the gender of children, and the knowledge zone is influenced by the mother's educational level most. These results will be useful for the basic data that can help to promote school readiness for children's parents and teachers.
The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of 1 or 2 years old infant to target infant care facilities and the sense of family activities conducted in conjunction with the infant's physical development and infant-parent interaction. The purpose of this study, research questions are as follows. First, child care center-family linked sensory activity is effective in the infant's physical development? Second, child care center-family linked sensory activity is effective in the infant-parent interaction? The subjects of this study are 56 infants of 1-2 year old and their mother or father 56 people in S and D infant care facilities in K city. S infant care center, experimental group, carry out child care center-family linked sensory activity. D infant care center is control group to apply an integrated program. The child care center-family linked sensory activity are conduct on 24 times, 3 times a week, totally 8 weeks. The results were as follows. First, child care center-family linked sensory activities are partially effective on the infant's physical development than the control group. Therefore, in order to promote the development of the infant's physical development, home and child care center will be done in conjunction with sensory activities are needed. Second, child care center-family linked sensory activities had positive effect on infant-parent interaction than the control group. Therefore, to improve infant-parent interaction, it is necessary to carry out child care center-family linked sensory activities. In conclusion, child care center-family linked sensory activities are correlated in positive effects on the physical development of infants and the infant-parent interaction.
This study was done to find out how women acquire their work citizenship through work-family reconciliation policies from the point of view of labour right and care right. This study investigated how labour right and care right, established by work-family reconciliation policies, are organized on a national level through the methods of socialization of the care such as the strategies of familization, de-familization, commodication and decommodication because paid labour and unpaid care work can be concretely embodied by such strategies. Actually in the care systems in the UK and Sweden, gender roles related to the responsibility for care was assumed differently. For that reason, the socialization of the care in these countries have been developed in a different way. And different results have been created from the two different countries in labour rights and care righst of man and women. The matter whether a society regards a woman as a laborer or caregiver especially has been an important starting point for the way in which social sharing of care develops. Work-family reconciliation policies stated in this study are very important factors. We can understand that care is not simply a duty of a man or a woman but an important human desire, which has to be granted to both a man and a woman as one of their own individual rights.
The purpose of this study was to explore relationships between family of origin and youth transitioning from out-of-home care. Data were collected from six youths transitioning from out-of-home care and were analyzed using the phenomenological approach. The results of this study were as follows. Four categories and twelve subcategories were drawn from the meaning units. The four categories were 'chaos in separation', 're-established relations but with distance', 'completely ended relationships with the family of origin', and 'redrawing family boundaries'. First, the participants who were separated from their parents due to poverty or divorce reunited with their parents, and they appeared to continue their relationships with the family of origin after transitioning from out-of-home care. The youth were receiving various forms of support from their parents in order to be independent, and they were experiencing stable independence through this support. Second, the participants who were separated from their parents due to serious child abuse or parental death had broken relationships with their parents. The youth were independent and relied on new alternative relationships that were not with the family of origin, but they experienced somewhat unstable self-reliance. In short, participants' relationships with families of origin in this study can be defined as a tight rope between love and hate. Based on these results, child welfare practice and policy implications were discussed to help out-of-home care youth's relationship with their family of origin.
The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of adolescent who are scheduled to discharge from child care institution. Data was gathered from 5 adolescent who are scheduled to discharge from child care institution within 1-2 years and qualitative case study used for data analysis. The analysis showed that adolescents of child care institution experienced separation from their parents and entered the institution with no consideration of their feelings. Then, they stayed in the institution for many years, even throughout their teenager-years, before they are released from the institution. Although feelings they experience of separation from the institution included worry and tension, those feelings were different from feelings they received from separation from their parents in a way that the former was more hopeful and future forwarding. Based on these findings, services sensitive to adolescent who are scheduled to discharge from the institution are suggested.
This study was a descriptive research to identify the health behavior and mental health and the influence of parental attitudes according to smoking in out-of-school youths. The study subjects were 282 enrolled in youth support center located in Seoul and Chungnam areaa, x2-test, t-test, multiple logistic regression were used for analysis. The results of this study, sex, father's education level, drinking, sexual experience, and parental attitude had a significant effect on smoking in out-of-school youths. And, it is higher possibility to smoke a group with a high score in parental attitudes. Based of this study's findings, it is necessary to develop specific smoking prevention and smoking cessation program for out-of-school youths according to parental attitude.
Expending on a life course perspective, this study explores the long-term and short-term reciprocity in parent-child relationships in Korean context. Since the reasons for providing filial support are believed to differ by gender, we focused on how a child's gender affects both types of reciprocity. Data were collected from middle-aged sons (N=726) and daughters (N=883) with at least one surviving parent. Logistic regression was then conducted in order to examine the relations between the support a child currently provides to parents and the current or previous support received from the parents. Dependent variables are financial and instrumental support that middle-aged child currently provide to the parents. The financial and instrumental support a child received from the parents within a year are included in the model as an independent variable to assess short-term reciprocity. The level of financial support a child has received during the transition to adulthood process is included in the model as a independent variable to explore long-term reciprocity. Result supports the existence of gender differences in the long-term reciprocity. Daughters provided instrumental support in response to the financial support that they had received from parents during the transition to adulthood process. However, for sons, this tendency was not found. When it comes to financial support, long-term reciprocity was observed neither for the sons nor for the daughters. Both sons and daughters are prone to provide financial support to the aged parents regardless of the level of financial support they had received during the transition to adulthood process. Short-term reciprocity was found both in sons and daughters. when they have been receiving a financial or an instrumental support from the aged parents within a year, they tend to provided instrumental support to the parents. This study shows that the aged parents still fulfill the reciprocal relationship to a certain degree. Secondly, we can conclude that the norm of reciprocity interplays with the norm of filial responsibility in contemporary Korea.
