The purpose of this paper is to examine the impact of conflict and nurturing factors for the divorced parent on the behavioral adaptation of their children. The participants in this study include 216 children in divorced families nationwide. Structural Equation Modeling with LISREL8 was used for statistical method. In order to achieve the purpose, researchers firstly tried to test a construct validity of conceptual variables(parental conflict, negative attitude of parental nurturing, child's belief about parental divorce, child's aggression and child's delinquence) by employing exploratory factor analysis(EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA). Result showed that all the five conceptual variables were discriminated. It was identified as the fit index of path structure was good(CFI=.955, NNFI=.947, RMSEA=.046). The specific result were as follows: 1. the parental conflict(${\xi}1$) was directly related to the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) and the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$). 2. the parental conflict(${\xi}1$) was indirectly related to child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$), the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). 3. the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) was directly related to the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$). 4. the negative attitude of parental nurturing(${\eta}1$) was indirectly related to the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). Lastly, and, the child's belief about parental divorce(${\eta}2$) was directly related to the child's aggression(${\eta}3$) and delinquence(${\eta}4$). Researchers also identified the mediating effect of the parental nurturing between parental conflict and child's belief about parental divorce. On the basis of these results, this article provided some suggestions for promoting of children welfare.
The purpose of this study is to examine the differences in psychological adjustment among university students according to their parents' divorce status and their parents' conflict. Specifically, students who have not-divorced parents were subdivided into two groups: those who have with a high degree of conflict and with a low degree of conflict. The results were as follows. First, the degree of the marital conflict from the divorced parents is higher than the one of the marital conflict from the parents not divorced. Second, the group who has the parents with a high level of marital conflict went through the highest difficulties among 3 groups at all variables without the parent-child relationship. Therefore, this study suggests that marital conflict is more closely related to psychological adjustment of children than parental divorce itself.

Also, aim that identifies variables which have influences on adolescents' depression. The subjects were 356 middle and high school students who live in Seoul and Incheon. All respondents answered by self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed by t-test and hierarchical regression. The major findings were as follows. First, adolescents from divorced families perceived more depression than those from non-divorced families. Second, adolescents from divorced families perceived parenting attitude less warm than those from non-divorced families. Third, adolescents from divorced families perceived themselves more isolated and less understood in their peer relationships than those from non-divorced families did. The subjects were 80 children in divorced families(46boys and 34girls) and 74 children in non-divorced families (37boys and 37girls). They completed questionnaire assessing perception of parenting behaviors and their teacher rated K-CBCL(withdrawal, depression/anxiety, aggression). Results were as follows. First, children in non-divorced families perceived their parenting behavior more positively. Second, boys had more behavior problems such as depression/anxiety and aggression than girls. Third, children in divorced families had more behavior problems such as withdrawal, depression/anxiety, and aggression than children in non-divorced families. Fourth, children's withdrawal was affected by parental divorce and children's perception of parenting behaviors, and children's depression/ anxiety and aggression were affected by parental divorce and children's gender.
This study explored adjustment of school-aged children from low-income divorced families. Specifically, protective factors for children's self-perceived competence and behavior problems were investigated with children's coping strategies, perceived social support, parents' childrearing style, and parental stress. Subjects of this study were 126 children of 4 to 6 grade and their custodial parents(38 fathers, 88 mothers) from divorced families. Children's self-perceived competence and behavior problems were not different neither by children's sex nor custodial parent's sex. When children used more positive and less negative coping strategies, and when parents experienced less childrearing stress, children perceived themselves to be more competent. Similarly, when children used more positive and less negative coping strategies, received more social support, they perceived themselves to be more adequate. Children whose parents had high levels of childrearing stress showed more internalized and externalized behavior problems. Furthermore, children who perceived less supports from peers showed more behavior problems.

The purpose of this study was to explore predictors of positive changes in children with divorced parents and to demonstrate the structural path among the perceived experience of social discrimination, parenting difficulties, parent-child communication, and internet use of children that related to positive changes based on family incomes. The subjects for this study were 1,114 single parents from divorced families sourced from a study on the status of single-parent families in 2015. The results of this study by using the structural equation model of the moderating effect verification with family incomes and multi group analysis are as follows. First, single-parent's perceived experience of social discrimination turned had a significant positive effect on parenting difficulties( =.354) and children's internet use ( =.234). Single-parent's perceived parenting difficulties also had a significant positive effect on children's internet use ( =.440) but a significant negative effect on both parent-child communication( =.192) and positive changes of children( =.218). Interestingly, internet use of children demonstrated a significant negative effect on their positive changes. Second, parent-child communication, parenting difficulties, and children's internet use had a negative mediating effect with the relationship where single-parent's perceived experience of social discrimination had an effect on positive changes of children( =.167). Second, between the family groups based on family incomes, there was no statistically significant difference in the structural relationship. Based on these results, this study presented a practical proposal to help single parents not experience social discrimination and to help decrease the internet use of children to improve positive changes.
This study explored the degree of change in children perceived by single parents and examined the effect of single parents' spending family time and participation of leisure activities on their school-aged children. Hierarchical multiple regression was utilized to analyze data of 1,162 people who responded to the single parent survey collected by the Korea Women's Policy Research Institute in 2018. Results showed that single parents' spending family time and participation of leisure activities influenced positive change on their school-aged children. Implications and suggestions to support single parents' parenting environment are discussed.

This study was to know the influence of familial environment and moral development on conduct disorder. Subjects were composed of 47 male and female patients with conduct disorder(patients group), 113 general male and female students(normal group), and 173 juvenile prisoners(JP group). The Korean Form of the Family Environment Scale(FES) was used to assess the family environment of the subjects and the Korean Defining Issues Test(DIT) was used to assess the moral development. Conduct disorder was diagnosed with the DSM-III-R criteria for conduct disorder. The influence of familial environment and moral development on conduct disorder was analyzed with ANOVA and the differences among groups were verified with Scheffe test. There was no difference in the socioeconomic status and the physical abuse by the parents among the three groups. But the rates of divorce or separation of the parents were significantly highest in the JP group and higher in the patients group than in the normal group. Especially the subjects of the JP group experienced the divorce or separation of their parents during the preschool or the elementary school periods. In regard to the family environment, there was no difference among the three groups in the Subscales of Expressiveness, Independence, Intellectual-cultural orientation, Moral-religious emphasis, Organization, and Control. ‘Cohesion Subscale’ was significantly higher in the normal group than in the JP group. ‘Conflict Subscale’ was significantly higher in the JP and patients groups than in the normal group. ‘Achievement orientation Subscale’ was significantly lower in the JP group than in the patients and normal groups. ‘Activerecreational orientation’ was significantly lower in the normal group than in the JP and patients groups. In gegard to the moral developmental stage, the lower moral developmental step was higher in the JP and patients groups than in the normal group. The higher steps were significantly higher in the normal group than in the JP group. There was no significant correlation between the degree of ‘Moral-religious emphasis Subscale’ and the moral development. The clinical implication and limitation of present study were listed and discussed.
This study identified which aspects of perceived social support influence children's internalizing problems. The participants were 91 children from divorced families and 87 children from non-divorced families. They completed a questionnaire assessing the level of perceived social support and their teacher rated their internalizing problems(withdrawal, depression/anxiety) on K-CBCL scale. Sixth graders from non-divorced families perceived evaluative support higher than sixth graders from divorced families. In withdrawal, third graders from divorced families were rated higher than preschooler and sixth graders by their teacher. In depression/anxiety, third graders from divorced families were rated higher than sixth graders by their teacher. Internalizing problems of children from divorced families were affected by their perceived emotional support. Namely, children from divorced families who perceived less emotional support experienced more withdrawal and depression/anxiety.
