Estimation and Weighting of Sub-band Reliability for Multi-band Speech Recognition (다중대역 음성인식을 위한 부대역 신뢰도의 추정 및 가중)

  • Recently, based on the human speech recognition (HSR) model of Fletcher, the multi-band speech recognition has been intensively studied by many researchers. As a new automatic speech recognition (ASR) technique, the multi-band speech recognition splits the frequency domain into several sub-bands and recognizes each sub-band independently. The likelihood scores of sub-bands are weighted according to reliabilities of sub-bands and re-combined to make a final decision. This approach is known to be robust under noisy environments. When the noise is stationary a sub-band SNR can be estimated using the noise information in non-speech interval. However, if the noise is non-stationary it is not feasible to obtain the sub-band SNR. This paper proposes the inverse sub-band distance (ISD) weighting, where a distance of each sub-band is calculated by a stochastic matching of input feature vectors and hidden Markov models. The inverse distance is used as a sub-band weight. Experiments on 1500∼1800㎐ band-limited white noise and classical guitar sound revealed that the proposed method could represent the sub-band reliability effectively and improve the performance under both stationary and non-stationary band-limited noise environments.

Highly Reliable Digital Image Watermarking Based on HVS and DWT (HVS 및 DWT 기반의 고신뢰 디지털 영상 워터마킹)

  • A digital image watermarking algorithm is proposed that uses human visual system (HVS) and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). In this algorithm, an image is decomposed into four-level by DWT which reveals the characteristics of the human eyes and watermark is embedded into DWT coefficients using HVS. For robustness, the lowest level subbands which represent the highest frequency component are excluded in watermark embedding step and watermark is embedded into the perceptually significant coefficients (PSCs) of the rest subbands. PSCs of the baseband are selected according to the amplitude of the coefficients and PSCs of the high frequency subbands are selected by successive subband quantization (SSQ). Watermark is embedded into the PSCs of the baseband and high frequency subbands by Weber\`s law and spatial masking effect, respectively, for the invisibility and robustness. We tested the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the conventional watermarking algorithm by computer simulation. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking algorithm produces a better invisibility and robustness than the conventional algorithm.

Windowed Wavelet-Based Stereo Matching Using Shiftability (이동성 (shiftability)을 이용한 윈도우 웨이블릿 기반 스테레오 정합)

  • 본 논문에서는 스테레오 정합을 위한 특징으로 웨이 블릿의 이동성(shiftability)을 이용한 윈도우 웨이블릿 기반 스테레오 정합방법을 제안하였다. 전 영상에 대한 웨이블릿 분해는 웨이블릿의 이동성 유지가 이루어지지 않아서 정합 정확도가 떨어진다. 그래서 웨이블릿의 이동성을 신뢰성 있는 정합정보로 만들기 위해 윈도우로 전체 파형의 일부를 표본화하고 웨이블릿 분해를 수행하여 기준신호와 이동된 신호의 부대역 정보 사이의 상관도(cross-correlation)를 정합정보로 이용하였다. 대역별 상관도는 얻어진 4개의 부대역의 대역별 가중치가 고려되어 계산된다. 제안한 방법은 주파수 대역별 계층적인 정합과 양방향 정합과정을 통해 영상의 경계부분, 동일한 형태의 반복, 잡음(white noise)등이 포함된 영상에서의 오정합을 줄일 수 있었으며 특징정보가 부족한 부분에서의 정합도 개선할 수 있었다.

Enhanced Dispersive Packetization Scheme for Reliable Transmission of wavelet Image (신뢰성 있는 웨이블릿 이미지 전송을 위한 패킷타이징 기법)

  • 이미지 압축을 위한 새로운 기법 중의 하나가 웨이블릿 변환이다. 웨이블릿 변환된 이미지는 이미지 전체의 중요 정보가 한쪽으로 치우치는 경향을 보인다. 그러므로 웨이블 이미지를 순차적으로 네트웍상에 전송한다면 중요 정보가 포함된 패킷에 손실이 발생할 경우 이미지의 품질에 치명적인 영향을 미친다. 본 논문에서는 전송된 웨이블릿 이미지의 품질을 보장하기 위한 새로운 패킷타이징 기법을 제안한다. 즉 주파수 부대역(frequency subband)을 여러 개의 블록으로 나누고, 이 블록들을 서로 다른 패킷에 삽입하여 패킷의 중요도를 분산하는 것이다. 또한 주파수대역이 가장 낮은 부대역 정보를 중복하여 전송함으로써 이미지 전체의 품질을 보장한다. 제안된 기법의 성능을 평가하기 위해 객관적인 성능평가 단위인 PSNR과 주관적인 이미지 분석을 수행하였다. 실험결과 제안된 기법의 성능이 순차적인 블록 패킷 기법에 비하여 PSNR에서 1~4 ㏈ 높았으며, 이미지의 선명도도 높음을 알 수 있었다.

Packetizing Scheme for Reliable Transmission of Wavelet Video Stream (신뢰성있는 웨이블릿 비디오 전송을 위한 패킷화 기법)

  • Since Wavelet Transform decomposes a video frame into subbands with various frequencies and resolutions, the reconstructed video qualify at a receiver fluctuates according to the location of transmission errors within frames. This deteriorates the whole visual duality of the video. Specifically, for a wavelet based video which exploits the motion estimation prediction scheme, the transmission errors of a subband not only have a bad effect on other subbands within a same frame but also propagates to the subsequent frames. In this paper, we propose BDP(Block Based Dispersive Packetization) scheme, for a wavelet based video stream, which maintains constant video quality despite packet location that a transmission error occurs. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we use MRME(Multi-Resolution Motion Estimation) scheme to compress a video in Inter coding mode and Gilbert´s error model to generate the error patterns in wireless network environment. The simulation results show that BDP is more efficient than BP (Block based Packetization) or DP (Dispersive Packetization) in both PSNR and visual quality.

  • In this paper, a wavelet-based stereo matching algorithm to obtain an accurate disparity map in wavelet transformed domain by using a shift ability property, a modified wavelet transform, the similarities for their sub-bands, and a hierarchical structure is proposed. New approaches for stereo matching by lots of feature information are to utilize translation-variant results of the sub-bands in the wavelet transformed domain because they cannot literally expect translation invariance in a system based on convolution and sub-sampling. After the similarity matching for each sub-band, we can easily find optimal matched-points because the sub-bands appearance of the shifted signals is definitely different from that of the original signal with no shift.
