복합봉재 압출에 의한 에너지 소산의 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Effect of Energy Dissipation in Extruding Clad Rod)

  • Rapid progress in many branches of technology has led to a demand on new materials such as high strength light weight alloys, powdered alloys and composite materials. The hydrostatic extrusion is essentially a method of extruding a clad rod through a die. In order to investigate the effect of the process conditions such as friction heat, deformation and clad thickness on the clad extrusion process, viscoplastic finite element simulations were conducted. A specific model for theoretical analysis used in this study is The single scalar variable version of Hart's model. An experiment also has been carried out using 1.5MN hydrostatic extruder with variable speed ram, LVDT and load cell for comparison. It is found that the hydrostatic extrusion pressure considering the effect of heat dissipation in this theoretical work was closer to the experimental pressure than the isothermal hydrostatic extrusion pressure.

  • A clad material is a different type of the typical composites which is composed of two or more materials joined at their interface surface. The advantage of clad material is that the combination of different materials can satisfy both the need of good mechanical properties and the other demand of user such as electrical properties instantaneouly. This paper is concerned with the direct and indirect extrusion process of copper-clad aluminum rod. Extrusion of copper-clad aluminum rod was simulated using a commercially available finite element package of DEFORM. The simulations were performed for copper-clad aluminum rod to predict the distributions of temperature, effective stress, effective strain rate and moan stress for some sheath thicknesses, die exit diameters and die temperatures.

  • Composite material consists of more than two materials and make various kinds of composite materials by combining different single materials. Copper clad aluminum composite material is composed of Al and Cu, and it has already been put to practical use in Europe because of its economic benefits. This paper presents the interface bonding according to the variation of extrusion ratio and semi-angle die by observing the interface between Cu and Al using metal microscope. By that result, we can predict the conditions of the interface bonding according to the extruding conditions.

  • The aluminar short fiber reinforced composite materials for hot extrusion were fabricated by semi-solid stirring method, and extruded at extrusion temperature $400^{\circ}C$ with various extrusion ratio. The hot extrusion load of volume fraction 15% metal matrix composites and base alloy Al7075 has been compared. The fiber length distribution, fiber breakage and fiber orientation are investiged to know the fiber behaviour in before and after hot extrusion. The tensile strength of the hot extruded billet are experimentally determined for different of extrusion ratios, and compared with theorically calculated strength.

축대칭 복합압출공정의 소성변형 연구 (A Study of the Plastic Deformation in Axisymmetric Combined Extrusion)

  • An analytical method based on the upper bound approach for the cup-bar axisymmetric combined extrusion is presented to determine the deformation zones as well as extrusion load and deformed geometry in the early stage. A new kiematically admissible velocity field is derived by the appropriate transformation of the original velocity field and applying the flow function approach. The derived velocity field is directly related to the boundary function for the plastically deforming zones and the parameter controlling the flow direction to the forward part or backward part. Experiments are carred out with the annealed aluminum 2024 at room temperature for the various area reductions. The workhardening effect is considered in the formulation as a function of the height ratio between the deformed billet and the orighinal billet to calculate the extrusion pressures. The theoretical predictions for the extrusion loads and deformed configuration are in good agreement with the experimental results.

LCP/PC 블렌드 압출몰의 탄성 및 점탄성 특성 (Elastic and Viscoelastic Properties of an Extruded LCP/PC Blend)

  • 전방향족 에스테르계 열방성 액정중합체(LCP) 벡트라(Vectra)와 폴리카보네이트 (PC)를 무게비 30/70으로 구성한 고분자 블렌드를 확장되는 다이를 통하여 압출한후 압출쉬 트의 탄성 및 점탄성 특성을 만능시험기(UTM)와 동적기계적 스펙트로터(RDS)를 이용하여 측정하였다. 블렌드의 기계적 특성은 기지재인 PC의 ductility에도 불구하고 순수 LCP보다 도 더 brittle하였다. 그러나 탄성률이나 인장강도 모두 PC보다 훨씬 높게 나타나 보강효과 가 확인되었다. 이러한 보강효과는 복합계 내부에서 스스로 형성된 직경 2~10$\mu$m 정도의 거대 섬유소 그리고 거대 섬유소는 다시 직경 0.05$\mu$m 정도의 미세섬유로서 구성된 형태학 적 특성으로 설명될수 있었다. 한편 블렌드의 점탄성 거동은 마치 entanglement coupling이 높은 계의 특성과 비슷하였으며 시편의 위치에 따른 특성변화는 관찰되지 않았고 순수산 LCP의 점탄성 특성과 아주 유사하였다.

  • In this paper, the tube forming by radial-forward extrusion is analyzed by numerical simulation and experiments. The paper discusses the effects of process variables such as gap height, relative gap width and die corner radius on tube forming. The influence of deformation patterns of flange in radial extrusion on forward extrusion for tube forming is investigated and summarized in terms of the maximum forming force and hardness variations along the extrusion path. Furthermore the external defects are shown experimentally during the forming operation. Based on finite element analysis in conjunction with experimental test in Al alloy, analysis is performed for important parameter combination in order to reduce forming defects. Eventually, the process parameters for safe forming are suggested in order to reduce the forming defects.

  • The forming characteristics of cup-rod combined extrusion process were investigated with process parameter change. Simultaneous forward rod extrusion and backward cup extrusion was conducted with magnesium alloy, AZ31B. Process parameters such as forward extrusion ratio, backward extrusion ratio, and working temperature were controlled in a specific region and the effects of the parameter change were examined. Surface crack was developed in a certain state of the process parameters combination. The crack-free forming limit of the alloy in the combined process was disclosed by the parameter study. The microstructures of the initial and extruded workpieces were observed.
