  • Big data analysis systems apply NoSQL databases like MongoDB to store, process, and analyze diverse forms of large-scale data. MongoDB offers scalability and fast data processing speeds through distributed processing and data replication, depending on its configuration. This paper investigates the suitable MongoDB environment configurations for implementing big data analysis systems. For performance evaluation, we configured both single-node and multi-node environments. In the multi-node setup, we expanded the number of data nodes from two to three and measured the performance in each environment. According to the analysis, the processing speeds for complex data structures with three or more dimensions are approximately 5.75% faster in the single-node environment compared to an environment with two data nodes. However, a setting with three data nodes processes data about 25.15% faster than the single-node environment. On the other hand, for simple one-dimensional data structures, the multi-node environment processes data approximately 28.63% faster than the single-node environment. Further research is needed to practically validate these findings with diverse data structures and large volumes of data.

  • Biometric recognition is a technology that determines whether a person is identified by extracting information on a person's biometric and behavioral characteristics with a specific device. Cyber threats such as forgery, duplication, and hacking of biometric characteristics are increasing in the field of biometrics. In response, the security system is strengthened and complex, and it is becoming difficult for individuals to use. To this end, multiple biometric models are being studied. Existing studies have suggested feature fusion methods, but comparisons between feature fusion methods are insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, we compared and evaluated the fusion method of multiple biometric models using fingerprint, face, and iris images. VGG-16, ResNet-50, EfficientNet-B1, EfficientNet-B4, EfficientNet-B7, and Inception-v3 were used for feature extraction, and the fusion methods of 'Sensor-Level', 'Feature-Level', 'Score-Level', and 'Rank-Level' were compared and evaluated for feature fusion. As a result of the comparative evaluation, the EfficientNet-B7 model showed 98.51% accuracy and high stability in the 'Feature-Level' fusion method. However, because the EfficietnNet-B7 model is large in size, model lightweight studies are needed for biocharacteristic fusion.

  • The object or this paper is to analyze the rollover effect on KOSPI 200 index option prices. Especially we analyze the implied volatilities of the options that became the near maturity options as the old one expired. For this analysis, a panel data of KOSPI 200 Index Option Prices from year 1999 to year 2001 were used, and following results were obtained. First, after controlling for the underlying index returns, strike prices and other pricing factors, the call option prices tend to decrease while the put option prices tend to increase during the week of expiry. Second, if one concentrates on the daily price changes, call option prices tend to go up on Thursday (as the old options expire), and then experience a price decrease on the following day, while the reverse is true for the put options. These results imply that the option prices are affected by some of the market micro-structure effects such as whether the option is the near maturity option. We conjecture that the reason for this is related to the undervaluation of KOSPI 200 futures. The results from this paper have implications on the timing of option trades. If one wants to buy put options, and/or sell call options, he has better off by executing his intended trades before the old options expire. On the other hand, if one wants to buy call options, and/or sell put options, hi has better off by executing his intended trades after the expiry.

  • Background: Telomerase enzyme activity is not detected in most normal cells, a phonomenon believed to be associated with limitations on cellular proliferation. Since this activity is detected in nearly all human tumor, including lung cancers, it has been suggested that telomerase activation may be coupled to acquisition of malignant phenotype. In this study, we determined whether telomerase activity was associated with tumor pathologic stage. Methods: Primary tumor specimens obtained by bronchoscopic biopsies from 33 patients were analyzed. Telomerase activity was measured by means of a modified Telomeric Repeat Amplication Protocol(TRAP) assay. Results: Telomerase activity was detected in 23 of the 27 non-small-cell lung cancer and 5 of 6 small-cell lung cancer. A few primary tumors did not appear to have detectable telomerase activity. Positive associations were found between the telomerase-positive rate and tumor stage(p<0.05). Conclusion: High telomerase activity is detected frequently in primary lung cancers that exhibit high tumor cell proliferation rates and advanced pathologic stage.

  • With the development of technology, the methods of digitally converting various forms of analog information have become common. As a result, the concept of recording, building, and reproducing data in a virtual space, such as digital heritage and digital reconstruction, has been actively used in the preservation and research of various cultural heritages. However, there are few existing research results that suggest optimal scanners for small and medium-sized relics. In addition, scanner prices are not cheap for researchers to use, so there are not many related studies. The 3D scanner specifications have a great influence on the quality of the 3D model. In particular, since the state of light reflected on the surface of the object varies depending on the type of light source used in the scanner, using a scanner suitable for the characteristics of the object is the way to increase the efficiency of the work. Therefore, this paper conducted a study on nine small and medium-sized buried cultural properties of various materials, including earthenware and porcelain, by period, to examine the differences in quality of the four types of 3D scanners. As a result of the study, optical scanners and small and medium-sized object scanners were the most suitable digital records of the small and medium-sized relics. Optical scanners are excellent in both mesh and texture but have the disadvantage of being very expensive and not portable. The handheld method had the advantage of excellent portability and speed. When considering the results compared to the price, the small and medium-sized object scanner was the best. It was the photo room measurement that was able to obtain the 3D model at the lowest cost. 3D scanning technology can be largely used to produce digital drawings of relics, restore and duplicate cultural properties, and build databases. This study is meaningful in that it contributed to the use of scanners most suitable for buried cultural properties by material and period for the active use of 3D scanning technology in cultural heritage.

  • War and poverty depress the consumption of cosmetics, while peace and prosperity encourage their proliferation. With the end of World War II, the US, Europe and Japan witnessed rapid growth of their cosmetic industries. The ending of the Cold War has stimulated the growth of the industry in Eastern Europe. Improved economies, and mass communication are also responsible for the fast growth of the cosmetic industries in many Asian nations. The rapid development of the cosmetic industry in mainland China over the past decade proves that changing economies and political climates can deeply affect the health of our business. In addition to war, economy, political climate and mass communication, factors such as lifestyle, religion, morality and value concepts, can also affect the growth of our industry. Cosmetics are the product of the society. As society and the needs of its people change, cosmetics also evolve with respect to their contents, packaging, distribution, marketing concepts, and emphasis. In many ways, cosmetics mirror our society, reflecting social changes. Until the early 70's, cosmetics in the US were primarily developed for white women. The civil rights movement of the 60's gave birth to ethnic cosmetics, and products designed for African-Americans became popular in the 70's and 80's. The consumerism of the 70's led the FDA to tighten cosmetic regulations, forcing manufacturers to disclose ingredients on their labels. The result was the spread of safety-oriented, "hypoallergenic" cosmetics and more selective use of ingredients. The new ingredient labeling law in Europe is also likely to affect the manner in which development chemists choose ingredients for new products. Environmental pollution, too, can affect cosmetics trends. For example, the concern over ozone depletion in the stratosphere has promoted the consumption of suncare products. Similarly, the popularity of natural cosmetic ingredients, the search of non-animal testing methods, and ecology-conscious cosmetic packaging seen in recent years all reflect the profound influences of our changing world. In the 1980's, a class of efficacy-oriented skin-care products, which the New York Times dubbed "serious" cosmetics, emerged in the US. "Cosmeceuticals" refer to hybrids of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals which have gained importance in the US in the 90's and are quickly spreading world-wide. In spite of regulatory problems, consumer demand and new technologies continue to encourage their development. New classes of cosmeceuticals are emerging to meet the demands of increasingly affluent Asian consumers as we enter the 21st century. as we enter the 21st century.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the marginal adaptation of a ceramic-pressed-to-metal restoration with traditional metal-ceramic restoration. Materials and methods: Duplicating the prepared resin tooth, 20 metal dies were fabricated. Twenty metal copings of 2 groups which were metal ceramic restoration and pressed to metal restoration were fabricated. The marginal opening of each coping was measured with Microscope (BX 60M-36E $41D^{(R)}$: Olympus, Japan). After porcelain build-up, the marginal opening of metal ceramic restoration and pressed to metal restoration ($PoM^{(R)}$: Ivoclar vivadent., Liechtenstein) were also evaluated in the same method. The measurements were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test and Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Within the limits of this study, the results were as follows. 1. Metal-ceramic restorations in coping state ($64.93{\pm}12.48\;{\mu}m$) in compared with Metal ceramic restorations after porcelain build-up ($63.43{\pm}12.86\;{\mu}m$) had no significant difference in marginal adaptation. 2. Pressed-metal-ceramic restorations in coping state ($50.00{\pm}12.28\;{\mu}m$) in compared with Pressed metal ceramic restorations after porcelain build-up ($56.72{\pm}13.80\;{\mu}m$) had no significant difference in marginal adaptation. 3. Metal-ceramic restorations in compared Pressed-metal-ceramic restorations had no significant difference in marginal adaptation. Conclusion: Pressed-metal-ceramic restorations have the advantage of being technically less change through using of the lost-wax technique and this allows for the convenience of a full-contour ceramic wax-up as opposed to the more technique-sensitive layering method. Pressed-metal-ceramic restorations may be considered in clinic on the basis of the result of this study and the advantage of this system.

  • Between June 1994 to August 1996, 13 patients underwent emergency coronary artery bypass operations. There were 3 males and 10 females and ages ranged from 56 to 80 years with the mean of 65.5 years. The indications for emergency operations were cardiogenic shock in 12 cases and intractable polymorphic VT(ve'ntricular tachycardia) in 1 case. The causes of cardiogenic shock were acute evolving infarction in 6 cases, PTCA failure in 4 cases, acute myocardial infarction in 1 case, and post-AMI VSR(ventricular septal rupture) in 1 case. Pive out of 13 patients could go to operating room within 2 hours. However, the operations were delayed from 3 to 10 hours in 8 patients due to non-medical causes. In 12 patients, 37 distal anastomoses were constructed with only 3 LITA's(left internal thoracic arteries) and 34 saphenous veins. In a patient with post-AMI VSR, VSR repair was added. In a patient with intractable VT and critical sten sis limited to left main coronary artery, left main coronary angioplasty was performed. Pive patients died after operation with the operative mortality of 38.5%. Three patients died in the operating room due to LV pump failure, one patient died due to intractable ventricular tachycardia on postoperative second day, and one patient died on postoperative 7th day due to multi-organ failure with complications of mediastinal bleeding, low cardiac output syndrome, ARF, and lower extremity ischemia due to IABP. In 8 survived patients, 3 major complications (mediastinitis, PMI, UGI bleeding) developed but eventually recovered. We think that the aggressive approach to critically ill patients will salvage some of such patients and the most important factor for patient salvage is early surgical intervention before irreversible damage occurs.

  • The purpose of this study was to develope the transgenic cattle expressing hFSH into the urine using the nuclear transfer. To produce the interest gene in urine, the specific vector was ligated with hFSH gene undo. maUII promoter. The fetal fibroblast cells (KbFF) were isolated from a 45-day male fetus. The hFSH gene was co-transfected with pcDNA3 (neo) vector to KbFF cells by electroporation. The gene-transfected cells were cultured with G-418 selection medium for 2 weeks. Selected colonies were confirmed by PCR. For nuclear transfer, enucleated bovine oocytes were transferred with hFSH transfected or nontransfected fetal fibroblasts. The cleavage and blastocyst formation rates were significantly lower (p<0.05) in cloned embryos transfected with hFSH gene (68.7% and 15.7%) than in those non-transfected (67.6% and 24.5 %), respectively. Apoptosis analysis showed no difference between hFSH transfected and non-transfected blastocysts (p>0.05). The blastocysts were transfected to 77 (control 24, hFSH 53) recipient cows. Two calves were born (1.9%) following transfer with NT embryos transfected with hFSH gene, but they were confirmed not to be transgenic calves. This result shows that the hFSH colonies were mixed with transfected and non transfected cells. Further research will be needed for selection and establishment of gene transfected cells.

  • 3D printing technology has been actively applied for the restoration of cultural properties. However, its application to the restoration of glass cultural properties has not yet been reported and thus requires further study. In this study, 3D printing technology was used to restore a defective part of a glass sarira bottle that forms an element of a series of sarira reliquaries commissioned by Yi Seonggye (known as King Taejo after founding the Joseon Dynasty) that was excavated from Geumgangsan Mountain (designated as Treasure No. 1925) and is currently housed at the National Museum of Korea. The defective area was reproduced using 3D printing and the printed reproduction was reproduced again using an epoxy resin. This latter piece was used as the restoration component rather than the 3D printed element. After the completion of the conservation treatment, the materials used for the 3D printing were compared with transparent materials used to restore ceramics to evaluate their usability and stability. A total of five specimens were produced, including from photocurable resin made by a stereo lithography apparatus (SLA), epoxy resin, acrylic resin, and more. They were exposed to UV for 96 hours to test for yellowing. Of the two specimens made of photocurable resins and exposed to UV, one was sprayed with a UV blocking agent but the other was exposed as-is. The UV exposure test showed that the specimen made by the SLA and sprayed with a UV blocking agent and the specimen made of epoxy resin were stable in terms of yellowing with a change in the b-value was less than 1. They are thus considered to be suitable materials for the restoration of glass cultural properties. Such glass cultural properties are often diverse in shape and their restoration can be difficult as they generally consist of a range of complex parts that hamper restoration. In this regard, diverse materials should be considered when selecting materials for the restoration of glass cultural properties.
