A Study on Pedestrian signal Warrants at Urbanized Area (도시부 보행자 교통신호기 설치준거 연구)

  • 교통신호기는 다양한 교통통행에 우선권을 부여하는 교통안전시설물로서, 교통소통과 안전에 지대한 영향을 끼치는 매우 중요한 통제시설이다. 그러나 현행 부적절한 신호기 설치로 차량 교통의 흐름을 방해하거나 교통사고를 증가시키는 경우가 있다. 본 연구는 교통안전시설실무편람에 제세된 9가지 신호기 설치준거 중 보행자 신호기 설치 준거에 대하여 국내도로상황 및 보행자 특성에 맞는 새로운 설치준거를 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 교통운영 측면에서 보면, 보행자 신호기는 보행자가 도로를 횡단하는데 적절한 간격을 찾을 수 없을 때 인위적으로 횡단간격을 만들어 주기 위한 교통제어시설이다. 따라서 보행자가 횡단보도에서 최대로 대기할 수 있는 시간을 기준으로 설치 여부를 결정하는 것으로 가정하고, 보행자가 보도상에서 기다릴 수 있는 최대한도 대기시간은 단일로상의 무신호 횡단보도에 교통신회가 설치되었을 경우 한 주기에서 녹색시간을 감한 시간으로 가정할 수 있다. 무신호 횡단보도 현장조사를 통하여 보행자 횡단행태, 횡단보행속도, 보행자 대기시간 등을 분석하였다. 차량의 간섭에 의한 보행자 회단간격과 차량 교통량과의 관계를 도출하고, 보행자 간섭에 의한 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량과의 관계를 도출하였다. 결론적으로 차로수별로 차량 교통량과 보행자 교통량 상관관계에 의한 신호기 설치, 설치고려, 미설치 영역을 구분하여 보행자 신호기 설치준거(안)을 제시하였다.

A study on extract in gait pattern characteristic using a tilt sensor and EMG (기울기 센서와 근전도를 이용한 보행패턴 특징 추출에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the patterns and characteristics according to gait cycle were analyzed using to EMG signals during walking, and analyzed in the time domain and frequency domain. The experiments was performed divide to level-ground walking and stair walking, and gait cycle was analysis by stance and swing. In the sagittal plane by using the tilt sensor measures the angle of the lower leg, and EMG was measured from the quadriceps and biceps femoris. The tilt of the lower leg was showed the biggest tilt at HS, and showed lowest value at TO. All in walking according to the gait cycle IEMG showed a specific pattern, and is expected useful to determine the gait cycle and kind. In the frequency domain analysis was using STFT on able to frequency analysis according to time, and using the tilt sensor was identify gait cycle. We analyzed also spectrum of the results of the STFT in all gait types, and recognized that stance had broad bandwidth than that of swing. Through this study, it was confirmed the possibility of judgment and analysis of the gait cycle using EMG and the tilt in the sagittal plane of the lower leg. When used it, can improve the quality of life of amputation patients

Development of Insole Sensor System and Gait Phase Detection Algorithm for Lower Extremity Exoskeleton (하지 외골격 로봇을 위한 인솔 센서시스템 및 보행 판단 알고리즘 개발)

  • This paper is about the development of an insole sensor system that can determine the model of an exoskeleton robot for lower limb that is a multi-degree of freedom system. First, the study analyzed the kinematic model of an exoskeleton robot for the lower limb that changes according to the gait phase detection of a human. Based on the ground reaction force (GRF), which is generated when walking, to proceed with insole sensor development, the sensing type, location, and the number of sensors were selected. The center of pressure (COP) of the human foot was understood first, prior to the development of algorithm. Using the COP, an algorithm was developed that is capable of detecting the gait phase with small number of sensors. An experiment at 3 km/h speed was conducted on the developed sensor system to evaluate the developed insole sensor system and the gait phase detection algorithm.

A Signal Optimization Model Integrating Traffic Movements and Pedestrian Crossings (차량과 보행자 동시신호최적화모형 개발 연구)

  • Conventional traffic signal optimization models assume that green intervals for pedestrian crossings are given as exogenous inputs such as minimum green intervals for straight-ahead movements. As the result, in reality, the green intervals of traffic movements may not distribute adequately by the volume/saturation-flow of them. In this paper, we proposed signal optimization models formulated in BMILP to integrate pedestrian crossings into traffic movements under under-saturated traffic flow. The model simultaneously optimizes traffic and pedestrian movements to minimize weighted queues of primary queues during red interval and secondary queues during queue clearance time. A set of linear objective function and constraints set up to ensure the conditions with respect to pedestrian and traffic maneuvers. Numerical examples are given by pedestrian green intervals and the number of pedestrian crossings located at an arm. Optimization results illustrated that pedestrian green intervals using proposed models are greater than those using TRANSYT-7F, but opposite in the ratios of pedestrian green intervals to the cycle lengths. The simulation results show that proposed models are superior to TRANSYT-7F in reducing delay, where the longer the pedestrian green interval the greater the effect.

Applicability of Emergency Preemption Signal Control under UTIS (UTIS를 이용한 긴급차량 우선신호 제어방안)

  • Even thought the firefighters have to hurry to the scene to extinguish the blaze, the fire engines could not rushed out due to the worst of traffic condition. Traffic signal control is one of the most important methods to minimize the fire engines's travel time. The focus of this paper is to develop a traffic control strategy, which is emergency vehicle preemption algorithm considering pedestrian in order to reduce travel time of emergency vehicle. This algorithm also includes recovering strategy after preemption signal to minimize the other vehicle's delay. In order to estimate the effectiveness of traffic control, traffic simulation was performed using VISSIM micro simulation tool for two different kinds of networks, which were non-coordinated corridor and coordinated corridor. The differences of travel time and average delay between emergency vehicle and ordinary vehicle were respectively estimated under pre-existed pretimed signal and preemption traffic control at two respective networks. The results of the simulation for the emergency vehicle, travel time was reduced to 36.8~43.3% under "Add or Subtract" method whereas it was reduced to 30.7~46.0% under "Dwell" method. In addition, in non-coordinated corridor case of ordinary vehicle, average control delay of "Dwell" method was increased 33.5% whereas it grew 0.5% under coordinated corridor. And "Add or Subtract" method was confirmed that average control delay of ordinary vehicle was increased 0.7% under non-coordinated corridor whereas it swelled 4.5% under coordinated corridor.

Water Quality and Hydrochemistry of Natural Springs and Community Wells in Daejeon Area (대전지역 자연샘물 및 공동우물의 수질 및 수리화학적 특성)

  • The sixty natural springs and community wells used as a drinking water in the Daejeon area are mainly located at the parks and the natural green districts. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of water quality and the contamination of the springs and the wells, and to suggest the management strategy for the springs and wells. For this study, we undertook water quality data from Daejeon City. According to the statistic analysis of water quality data, unacceptable rate as a drinking water was about 28 percent in 1999 and 24.5 percent in 2000, respectively. Major unacceptable factor is coliform, and others are bacteria, yersinia, color, turbidity, Fe and F. The unacceptable rate shows a roughly positive relationship with precipitation, that is, it shows highest rate during a rainy season between June and September. The major contamination source is likely to be the excrement of wild animals around natural springs and wells. Most of springs are vulnerable to the contamination of coliform and bacteria because of short residence time and shallow circulation in subsurface environment. The water samples collected from 31 springs or wells show weak acidic pHs, the electrical conductivity ranging from 63 to 357 $\mu\textrm{S}$/cm, and the hydrochemical types of Na(Ca)-HC0$_3$ and Ca-HC0$_3$. The groundwater samples of low total dissolved solid(TDS) belong to Na(Ca)-HC0$_3$. type, and the groundwater of high total dissolved solid is shifted towards Ca-HC0$_3$ type in the chemical composition. These hydrochemical characteristics indicate that most natural springs is in the early stage of geochemical evolution. The natural springs should be closed during a rainy season, which shows a high contamination rate. We suggest that a protection barrier around the springs should be built to keep wild animals away from the springs.
