Adaptive Power Control Dynamic Range Algorithm in WCDMA Downlink Systems (WCDMA 하향 링크 시스템에서의 적응적 PCDR 알고리즘)

  • WCDMA system is 3rd generation wireless mobile system specified by 3GPP. In WCDMA downlink, two power control schemes are operated. One is inner loop power control operated in every slot. Another is outer loop power control based on one frame time. Base station (BS) can estimate proper transmission power by these two power control schemes. However, because each MS's transmission power makes a severe effect on BS's performance, BS cannot give excessive transmission power to the specific user. 3GPP defined Power Control Dynamic Range (PCDR) to guarantee proper BS's performance. In this paper, we propose Adaptive PCDR algorithm. By APCDR algorithm, Radio Network Controller (RNC) can estimate each MS's current state using received signal to interference ratio (SIR). APCDR algorithm changes MS's maximum code channel power based on frame. By proposed scheme, each MS can reduce wireless channel effect and endure outages in cell edge. Therefore, each MS can obtain better QoS. Simulation result indicate that APCDR algorithm show more attractive output than fixed PCDR algorithm.

Development of a Traffic Signal Controller for the Tri-light Traffic Signal (3구신호등 제어용 교통신호제어기 개발)

  • The traffic signal controllers being used in the domestic currently are being manufactured based on the korean national police standard which was developed for controlling the quad-light traffic signal having the red, yellow, left-turn arrow, and green lights. But according to the national policy for the traffic operation, they have to be changed to be able to switch the tri-light signal having red, yellow and green lights. In this study, a new tri-light traffic signal controller was designed and developed by the way improving the Signal Control Unit of the existing quad-light standard traffic controller. The Load Signal Unit(LSU) was improved to output 6 signals which are the two assemblies of three signal indications having the red, yellow, and green lights. To enough traffic signals output to control each directional movements and the various transport modes which are car, bus, bike, and pedestrian etc., the connector bus system was designed to be able to accommodate maximum 96 signals outputs being constructed by 16 LSUs. Flasher device was developed to be able to support maximum 32 red signals. In the software, the communication protocol between traffic control center and the traffic signal controller was improved and new signal map code values were defined for the developed LSU controlling the quad-light traffic signal. A model of the quad-light traffic signal controller developed and was tested three operations, protocol-operation, remote-command and control-mode. The test result operated all of them successfully.

A Single Subcutaneous Dose Toxicity Study of The Acaricide Amitraz in Beagle Dogs. (개에서 진드기 살충제 amitraz의 단회피하투여 독성시험)

  • The present study was carried out to investigate the potential acute toxicity of amitraz by a single subcutaneous dose in beagle dogs. The test chemical was administered subcutaneously to male beagle dogs at dose levels of 0, 2, 10, or 50 mg/kg. Mortalities, clinical findings, and body weight changes were monitored for the 14-day period following the administration. At the end of 14-day observation period, hematology, serum biochemistry, and gross postmortem examinations were examined. A single dog in the 50 mg/kg group was found dead on day 3 after treatment and the other two dogs in the group were sacrificed because of the severe clinical signs on day 7 after treatment. Treatment related clinical signs, including anorexia, edema, mass and abscess formation in the injection sites, depression, vomiting, lacrimation, decreased locomotor activity, ataxia, recumbency, paresis in the limbs, and/or moribundity were observed in all treatment groups in a dose-dependent manner. Decreased or suppressed body weight gain was also observed dose-dependently in all treated groups. In autopsy, dead animals in the 50 mg/kg group showed muscular hemorrhage and inflammation in the injection sites and congestion in the liver and kidney. The terminal sacrificed animals in the 10 mg/kg group also exhibited muscular hemorrhage and inflammation in the injection sites. Whereas, no treatment related effects on hematology and serum biochemistry were observed on day 14 after treatment at any dose tested. On the basis of the results, it was concluded that a single subcutaneous injection of amitraz to beagle dogs resulted in increased incidence of abnormal clinical signs and death, decreased body weight, and increased incidence of abnormal gross findings. In the experimental conditions, the $LD_{50}$value of amitraz was 22.3 mg/kg (95% confidence limit not specified) and the no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) was considered to be below 2 mg/kg for male dogs.

  • 현재 국내에 공급되고 있는 잡곡류 수확기는 보행형 예취기, 탈곡기 위주의 저능률 기계화 수준으로 고능률의 콤바인 수확기 개발이 필요하며, 특히 잡곡류가 소규모 경작지의 영세농가 위주로 재배되어 저가격의 소형 콤바인 수확기 개발이 절실히 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 소규모 밭의 두류 및 잡곡 수확작업에 적응성이 뛰어나며, 농기계 임대사업소의 활용도를 높일 수 있고, 여성과 고령자도 쉽게 운전할 수 있어 수확작업의 노동력을 크게 절감할 수 있는 저가격의 25kW급 자주식 소형 콤바인을 개발하고자 시작기를 설계 제작하였다. 시작기의 주요부로 엔진은 25kW/2600rpm 3기통 디젤엔진을 탑재하였으며, 동력전달부는 주변속 3단, 부변속 2단의 선택맞물림 기어식의 변속장치를 이용하였다. 주행부는 궤도형으로 조향클러치와 습식 원판식 제동장치를 채용하였다. 전처리부는 선단거리 1700 mm의 디바이더와 상하좌우 수동 조절되는 회전속도 약 42 rpm의 정오각형 릴로 구성하였으며, 전처리부의 최대 승강높이는 740 mm이었다. 작물이송부는 돌기부착 오거와 체인컨베이어로 구성되어 있으며, 탈곡부는 단동형 축류식의 직경 440 mm, 길이 1180 mm의 급동과 높이 65 mm, 지름 10 mm의 46개 강봉형 급치, 격자형 수망으로 구성하였으며, 회전속도는 약 325 rpm으로 작동하도록 하였다. 선별 정선부는 요동 송풍선별식으로 곡립판, 볏짚체, 곡립체, 송풍팬으로 구성하였고 송풍팬의 회전속도는 약 850 rpm, 요동진동수는 약 5.8 Hz로 작동하도록 하였다. 곡물이송부와 재처리부는 수평이송 외경 103 mm, 수직이송 외경 110 mm의 피치가 모두 82 mm인 스크류컨베이어를 이용하였으며, 곡물탱크는 용량이 250 로 2개의 배출구로 곡물을 포대에 담도록 하였다. 그 외 시작기는 운전조작부, 유압장치부, 전기장치부 등을 갖도록 설계 제작하였다. 전체적인 기체의 크기는 길이${\times}$${\times}$높이 $3935{\times}1900{\times}2440mm$이었으며, 기체 중량은 약 1753 kg이었다. 콩 대상 기초 성능시험 결과 시작기의 작업속도는 약 0.5 m/s, 작업능률은 약 11 a/h로 나타났다.

Quantitative Evaluation of the Semi-Actuated Signal Control Systems (반감응 신호제어의 정량적 효과 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluated the quantitative effects of the deployment of semi-actuated signal systems using field data. For this, a semi-actuted signal system was deployed in the regional roadway network extensively. This paper investigated an operating strategy of semi-actuated signal systems for field application, and implemented the functional strategy into the standard signal controller. The performance was evaluated using three measures of effectiveness such as traffic volume, travel time, and the number of delayed vehicle. From the analysis results, traffic volume increased about 9.4% and 11.3% for morning and evening peak periods, respectively. The average travel time was reduced about 6.3% and 7.8% during morning and evening peak periods, respectively because of the expansion of bandwidths for major streets. In addition, the number of delayed vehicles was reduced about 36.4% and 23.9% for morning and evening peak periods, respectively. It is expected that the effectiveness of signal control system can be improved by incorporating a properly designed semi-actuated signal system in regional roadways with directional demand variation.

Cause and Countermeasure of Inundation Damage in Underground Space (우리나라 지하공간 내수침수피해 원인 및 대책)

  • 도시지역의 내수침수피해는 거의 매년 발생하고 있으며, 반지하와 같은 거주공간이 매우 취약한 상태이다. 특히 최근에는 지하철, 지하상가 등이 대규모 개발되고 복합네트워크화 되어 지하공간의 침수대책과 대피방안 마련이 시급한 상황이다. 일본의 경우 2000년 토카이 호우피해 후 통합유출해석 모형을 개발하였으며, 1999년 및 2003년 후쿠오카 침수피해 발생 후 특정도시하천침수피해대책법을 제정, 1999 후쿠오카, 2004년 하마마츠, 2008년 카누마 피해 후 일본 방재연구소에서는 실시간 1차원 지표범람모형과 모니터링을 통한 실시간 내수침수지도를 개발하였다. 특히 지하공간에 대해서는 "지하공간에 유입하는 범람수가 계단상 보행자게에 주는 위험성에 관한 연구" 등 실험을 바탕으로 각종 지하공간 침수대책 매뉴얼 및 지하시설의 침수시 피난확보계획 지침, 지하공간 침수대책 가이드라인 등 인명피해를 줄이고자하는 노력이 계속되어 오고 있다. 우리나라는 2006년 경기도 고양시 3호선 정발산역이 침수되었으며, 2010년 서울시 지하철 2호선 사당역 및 4호선이 침수되는 등의 지하철 침수피해와 2010년 서울시 광화문 지하상가, 인천시 부평구 우림라이온스 벨리, 우남플라자, 계양구 농협하나로마트, 서원아파트 등의 지하상가와 지하다층의 침수피해가 발생하였다. 특히 2006년 3호선 정발산역 침수는 17시간이나 지하철이 불통되었고 이로 인하여 심각한 교통 체증이 유발 되었다. 본 연구에서는 2010년 집중호우로 인한 서울, 인천지역의 지하공간 침수피해를 중심으로 최근 10년간 지하공간 침수피해사례로부터 대표적인 침수피해 원인 및 특성을 정리하였으며, 그 결과 지하공간 침수의 주요원인은 지상공간의 침수류가 지하공간으로 유입하고, 지하공간의 배수설비 용량부족, 지하공간으로의 유입을 방지하기위한 방지턱, 차수판, 침수시 비상전원 공급, 침수시 지하공간 대피 매뉴얼의 부재 등 다양한 원인이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 소방방재청에서 고시한 '지하공간 침수방지를 위한 수방기준'에 지하공간 침수 방지를 위한 각종 시설의 설치 및 대피 경로지정 등에 대한 기준이 마련되어 있으나, 지하공간 중 유동인구가 가장 많은 지하철역에서 조차 침수에 대한 행동매뉴얼이나 대피에 대한 가이드라인이 마련되지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 지하공간 침수를 방지하기 위하여 센서를 이용한 자동 차수판과 경보기 설치, 지하공간의 사람들이 안전한 대피로를 찾을 수 있도록 지상공간 및 지하공간 출입구를 모니터링 할 수 있는 CCTV의 설치, Dry Area를 두어 비상대피 할 수 있는 공간의 마련 등 시설적인 부분에 대하여 '지하공간 침수방지를 위한 수방기준'을 더욱 강화할 필요가 있으며, 지상공간의 침수 상황을 고려한 지하공간의 대피매뉴얼 또는 가이드라인 등의 수립이 필요하다. 또한 이와 더불어 재산 및 인명피해를 더욱 효율적으로 줄일 수 있도록 실시간 예 경보를 위한 침수해석 모형의 개발이 시급하다.

Hemipelvectomy in a Cat with Obstipation (심한 변비를 보이는 고양이에서 반골반절제술을 이용한 외과적 치료 증례)

  • A 9-month-old female Korean short hair cat weighing 2.2 kg presented for evaluation of a two-week history of obstipation. The owner reported that the cat sustained pelvic fractures 4 months previous to the onset of fecal tenesmus. On physical examination, fecal tenesmus was observed and restriction of the movement of the right coxofemoral joint was evident. Rectal palpation revealed narrowing of the pelvic canal with a hard bony protuberance at the bilateral acetabulum and pubic bones. Radiographs revealed a distended colon with feces and narrowing of the pelvic canal with abnormal structure of the pelvic bone. Conservative management consisting of stool softeners and a warm water enema was instituted; however, there was no improvement in obstipation. Partial iliac, ischial, pubic, and acetabular ostectomies were performed. Postoperative radiographs and rectal palpation revealed the enlarged pelvic canal. Stool softeners (5 ml orally twice daily) was administered following surgery for 14 days and then tapered down to 2.5 ml for 14 days. A warm water enema was performed twice postoperatively. At examination 14 days postoperatively, no problems with defecation and gait were reported. There was no evidence of obstipation and lameness of the left pelvic limb 5 months postoperatively.

The Effect of Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Patients with Chronic Lung Disease (만성 폐질환 환자에서의 호흡재활치료의 효과)

  • Background : It is known that pulmonary rehabilitation improves dyspnea and exercise tolerance in patient with chronic lung disease, although it does not improve pulmonary function. But there is a controversy whether this improvement after pulmonary rehabilitation is due to increased aerobic exercise capacity. We performed this study to evaluate the effect of pulmonary rehabilitation for 6 weeks on the pulmonary function, gas exchange, exercise tolerance and aerobic exercise capacity in patients with chronic lung disease. Methods : Pulmonary rehabilitations including education, muscle strengthening exercise and symptom-Umited aerobic exercise for six weeks, were performed in fourteen patients with chronic lung disease (COPD 11, bronchiectasis 1, IPF 1, sarcoidosis 1 ; mean age $57{\pm}4$ years; male 12, female 2). Pre- and post-rehabilitaion pulmonary function and exercise capacity were compared. Results: 1) Before the rehabilitation, FVC, $FEV_1$ and $FEF_{25-75%}$ of the patients were $71.5{\pm}6.4%$. $40.6{\pm}3.4%$ and $19.3{\pm}3.8%$ of predicted value respectively. TLC, FRC and RV were $130.3{\pm}9.3%$, $157.3{\pm}13.2%$ and $211.1{\pm}23.9%$ predicted respectively. Diffusing capacity and MVV were $59.1{\pm}1.1%$ and $48.6{\pm}6.2%$. These pulmonary functions did not change after pulmonary rehabilitation. 2) In the incremental exercise test using bicycle ergometer, maximum work rale ($57.7{\pm}4.9$) watts vs. $64.8{\pm}6.0$ watts, P=0.036), maximum oxygen consumption ($0.81{\pm}0.07$ L/min vs. $0.96{\mu}0.08$ L/min, P=0.009) and anaerobic threshold ($0.60{\pm}0.06$ L/min vs. $0.76{\mu}0.06$ L/min, P=0.009) were significantly increased after pulmonary rehabilitation. There was no improvement in gas exchange after rehabilitation. 3) Exercise endurances of upper ($4.5{\pm}0.7$ joule vs. $14.8{\pm}2.4$ joule, P<0.001) and lower extremity ($25.4{\pm}5.7$ joule vs. $42.6{\pm}7.7$ joule, P<0.001), and 6 minute walking distance ($392{\pm}35$ meter vs. $459{\pm}33$ meter, P<0.001) were significantly increased after rehabilitation. Maximum inspiratory pressure was also increased after rehabilitation ($68.5{\pm}5.4$ $CmH_2O$ VS. $80.4{\pm}6.4$ $CmH_2O$, P<0.001). Conclusion: The pulmonary rehabilitation for 6 weeks can improve exercise performance in patients with chronic lung disease.

Low Dose Spinal Anesthesia for Ambulatory Surgery of Varicose Vein (하지정맥류의 외래수술을 위한 저용량 척추마취)

  • Background: Bupivacaine with fentanyl might be suitable as the spinal anesthesia for performing ambulatory surgery to treat varicose vein. Material and Method: Thirty patients who underwent spinal anesthesia for a varicose vein operation were enrolled in this study. They were classified into 2 groups of either fentanyl 25ug mixed with bupivacaine 4mg (group FB4) or bupivacaine 8mg (group B8). We compared the groups for the success of the analgesia, the recovery time from sensory and motor block, the side effects and the postoperative complications. Result: The groups did not differ significantly regarding the success of analgesia (13 of 15 [group FB4], 15 of 15 [group B8]). None of the patients were converted to general anesthesia due to surgical pain. None of the patients required medication for hypotension and/or bradycardia. The operative and nonoperative side effects of motor block (tested for by using a modified Bromage scale) was significantly lower in group FB4 than that in group B8, as checked at 2 hours after spinal anesthesia (p<0.05). Recovery from spinal block was significantly quicker in group FB4 than that in group B8 (p<0.05). The first voluntary micturition time did not differ significantly (6.5 hours v 4.5 hours [p=0.143]) between the groups, but a nelatone catheter was inserted into 2 of the group B8 patients due to dysuria. Conclusion: Adequate intraoperative analgesia and hemodynamic stability and faster mobilization were achieved using bupivacaine 4mg with fentanyl 25ug. Low dose spinal anesthesia with fentanyl is suitable for performing ambulatory surgery to treat varicose vein.

The Clinical Effectiveness of Atipamezole as a Medetomidine-Tiletamine/Zolazepam Antagonist in Dogs (개에서 Medetomidine-Tiletamine/Zolazepam 마취에 대한 Atipamezole의 길항 효과)

  • The cardiopulmonary and antagonistic effects of atipamezole, to medetomidine (30 ug/kg, IM)-tiletamine/zolazepam (10 mg/kg, IV) were determined. Twelve healthy mongrel dogs ,(4.00$\pm$0.53 kg, mean$\pm$SD) were randomly assigned to the four experimental groups (control, A30; atipamezole 30 ug/kg, A60; atipamezole 60 ug/kg, A150; atipamezole 150 ug/kg) with 3 dogs in each group. Atropine (0.03 mg/kg, IM), medetomidine, and tiletamine/zolazepam (TZ) were injected 10 minute intervals. Atipamezole was injected intravenously 15 minutes after TZ injection. Mean arousal time (MAT) was 52.50$\pm$4.98, 43.06$\pm$2.60, 32.83$\pm$8.13, and 14.36$\pm$1.60 minutes in control, A30, A60, and Al50 groups respectively. In Al50 group, MAT was significantly reduced (P < 0.05). but mean walking time (MWT) was similar to that in control group. In recovery period, the higher doses of atimapezole, the rougher recovery including head rocking, hypersalivation, and muscle twitching. Five of twelve dogs vomited within 5 minutes after medetomidine injection. In Control group, heart rate significantly decreased in all recording stages except 15 minutes after TZ injection, 10 minutes after medetomidine injection in all groups, and 40 minutes after atipamezole injection in A30 group (P < 0.05). In Al50 group, atipamezole reversed the respiratory depression induced by medetomidine. Arterial blood pressure was significantly decreased 10minutes after medetomidine injection and 15 minutes after TZ injection in almost dogs in this study (P < 0.05). From 10 minutes after atipamezole injection to arousal time, arterial blood pressure was progressively increased in A60 and A150 group. Any value of blood gas analysis and CBC, and serum chemistry values were not significantly changed except pH of Al50 at 10 minutes after medetomidine injection. As shown in present study, atipamezole(150 ug/kg) is considered to exert a useful reversal effect in dogs anesthetized with medetomidine-tiletamine/zolazepam combination.
