The Multi-legged Small Sized Robot Drive using Piezoelectric Benders (압전벤더를 이용한 소형 다족 로봇 구동원)

  • I proposed small ambulatory robot actuators using piezoelectric benders. In order to make the motion of the biomimetic robot legs similar to the movements of the cockroaches or similar insects, two pairs of legs in the diagonal direction in the four leg structures are required to make the same movement. And elliptical displacement is realized by taking into account horizontal and vertical displacement of multimode oscillations and driving them by electrical signals with differences step by step, for example of 90° the T-shaped robot actuator showed wide range of speed (From 2 mm/sec. up to 266 mm/sec.) and ability of transportation (up to 10 g with 50 mm/s). Locomotive performance of the robot was competitive to the preceding robots, and moreover, the modular type actuators of a segmented myriapods robot could be added and removed for different tasks or performances.

  • Location awareness is one of the key functions to build U-city. Recently, many of works for location-aware systems are emerging to commercially apply to on-going large-scale apartment complex. As dwellers or cars being attached with active tags are moving in the U-city complex, the active tags periodically broadcast their own identifiers mu routers fixed along the street or in a building use those information to calculate location of thorn. There are several issues to be considered for such an environment. In this paper we propose i) a new architecture for location-aware system considering such issues ii) technical issues to implement it using active tags, and iii) a mathematical analytic model to investigate overall performance and verify it by comparing with actual experimental results. Through mathematical analysis, we can show that it is more efficient for the routers to send location signals than the tags do. We also show that there are several additional services available in the apartment complex. We conduscted several experiments hi a real ease parking lot to show that our system can locate the location of dwellers or cars.

  • 자동차에서 실내음질은 구매결정 요소들 중의 하나로 그 중요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 따라서 다양한 운전조건에서 운전자가 기대하는 실내음질의 기대 수준을 충족시켜야 한다. 소비자는 운전경험과 습관에 따라 기대하는 음질에 차이가 있고 소리에 대한 표현방식도 모호하기 때문에 이러한 주관적 특성을 하나의 통일된 표현으로 정의 하기가 어렵다. 그러나 지난 이십여 년 동안의 음질개발과 차량 실내소음 주관평가의 통계처리로 통일된 표현을 할 수 있었다. 나아가 심리음향학 및 신호처리기술의 발달과 꾸준한 음질연구결과로 소리특성을 객관적으로 나타내는 소리의 시각화가 가능하였으며, 운전자가 인식하는 주관평가와의 상관관계를 높여 차량의 대표적인 음질인자로 정량화하여 음질목표를 설정할 수 있었다. 실내소음의 구성은 엔진 투과음, 흡배기 소음, 바람 소음, 도로 기인 소음 등으로 다양하므로 소음원에 따라 음의 균형을 맞추어 조화로운 음질개발을 하는 것이 중요했다. 또한 차량 판매되는 지역에 따라 선호음이 상이하여 지역별 실내음질의 차별화가 필요했다. 궁극적으로는 운전자의 감성품질을 만족할 수 있도록 음을 제어하여 브랜드 사운드를 개발하고 있다. 이러한 실내음질을 달성하기 위한 방법으로 소음원과 전달경로에 대해 기여도를 분석하고, 경로를 구성하는 시스템 별로 세분화하여 시스템 목표를 설정하였다. 시스템 개발에 중요한 인자로 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 성능을 들 수 있다. 특히 디젤차량의 비중이 큰 유럽업체의 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 개발 능력은 높게 평가되고 있다. 이에 유럽의 부품전문회사가 가지고 있는 해석과 시험적인 개발 방법을 통하여 전달계 특성을 만족하기 위한 시스템의 동강성 및 흡차음 특성을 개발하고 있다. 차량음질 튜닝의 중요한 기법 중 하나로 흡배기 개발을 추진하고 있다. 친환경자동차인 하이브리드차량, 전기차량 및 연료전지차량의 경우 전기구동부품에서 발생하는 각종 이음 발생을 최소화 했다. 보행자를 보호하고 운전의 즐거움을 향상하기 위한 가상사운드 개발을 진행하고 있다. 회사 수익성 향상을 위한 원가절감 및 구조 경량화에 따른 음질악화와 연비 향상 및 배기가스 규제 강화로 고성능 고출력 엔진탑재에 따른 음질악화 요인을 극복해야 했다. 운전자의 청감은 차량의 운전성에 따라서도 크게 영향을 받게 되므로 엔진제어와 변속기제어를 통해 음질과 운전성이 조화를 이룰 수 있도록 개발하고 있다. 향후, 소음원에 따른 시스템 최적화 개발, 운전성과 음질 연계 개발과 친환경차량의 가상사운드 개발 등이 자동차 음질 개발의 중요한 이슈로 생각한다.

Detectability Evaluation for Alert Sound in an Electric Vehicle (전기자동차의 경고음에 대한 인지성 평가)

  • Generally, the sound emitted from a vehicle powered by an electric motor is lower than that of internal combustion engine vehicles. Therefore, pedestrians often cannot detect approaching electric vehicles. Therefore, a certain additional warning sound is required for these types of automobiles. In this study, to develop an audible warning sound, nine warning sounds are designed based on signal processing and chord theory. The background noise measured on the road is also added to these synthetic sounds. The detectability of these warning sounds is evaluated by subjective tests. The sound metric is correlated to detectability and is investigated through psychoacoustic theory and subjective evaluation. It is determined that known psychoacoustic parameters such as loudness, sharpness, and roughness have a low correlation with detectability. However, it is found that the interval of harmonic sound correlates well with detectability.

  • In this study, a stress analysis is made fur an ankle foot orthosis (AFO) in the view point of structural stability. The investigated AFO is a solid and standard type. To analyze the stress distribution on the neck of AFO, the maximum AFO angular translation data is obtained by gait analysis. The material test of polypropylene is made to obtain the mechanical properties of AFO. The maximum dorsiflexion appears at the midstance in the gait analysis. The experimental angular translation at the top of AFO is about 10.3$^{\circ}$ at mid stance. Three models of AFO with different width of neck are made and analyzed with ABAQUS 6.1. The stress levels and distributions of 3 different width(W$_1$, W$_2$=0.85W$_1$, W$_3$=0.60W$_1$) AFO are investigated. As a result, the standard type(W$_1$) appears to the maximum stresses at the medial edge of cutout area surrounding ankle joint. The maximum stresses of the narrower type(W$_2$) are occured on medial edge and center of ankle. The narrowest type(W$_3$) appears to the maximum stresses at center of ankle. The maximum stresses become smaller as ankle width of AFO is narrower.

  • WiBro(Portable Internet Service) is service being capable to provide a high data rate wireless internet access with Personal Subscriber Station under the stationary or mobile environment, anytime and any where. It will fill the gap between very high data rate wireless local area networks and very high mobility cellular systems. The security is an important point of WiBro providing high data and mobile wireless services. This paper proposes user authentication mechanism of WiBro wireless networks applied EAP-AKA authentication protocol. As a result of Wireless authentication based on EAP-AKA, this mechanism is capable to be used in WiBro-WLAN-3GPP interworking scenario as well as the WiBro authentication mechanism.

Research trends in rehabilitation program for disabled applying virtual reality technology in Korea (가상현실기술을 적용한 국내 장애인재활프로그램 연구동향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends in research on the effects of virtual reality technology applied to rehabilitation for disabled. I have collected 60 papers published in Korea(2000-2014), and analyzed it by the P.I.C.O. method. As a result, adults and the elderly are most common subjects, and projection type has been used frequently in researches. It were included mostly balance, upper extremity function, and gait that the dependent variables represents the intervention effects. I interpreted it as the ICF factors. So, research topics were the most common mobility, in contrast to educational, vocational, recreational area as dealing with the participation area is very small. In the future, we should focused on social aspects for useful intervention in real life of people with disabilities based on virtual reality technology, and virtual reality technology should be easy to apply in terms of cost and accessibility.

  • Intelligent vehicle plans motion and navigate itself based on the surrounding environment perception. Hence, the precise environment recognition is an essential part of self-driving vehicle. There exist many vulnerable road users (e.g. vehicle, pedestrians) on vehicular driving environment, the vehicle must percept all the dynamic obstacles accurately for safety. In this paper, we propose an multiple vehicle tracking algorithm using microwave radar. Our proposed system includes various special features. First, exceptional radar measurement model for vehicle, concentrated on the corner, is described by mixture density network (MDN), and applied to particle filter weighting. Also, to conquer the curse of dimensionality of particle filter and estimate the time-varying number of multi-target states, reversible jump markov chain monte carlo (RJMCMC) is used to sampling step of the proposed algorithm. The robustness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through several computer simulations.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop land use planning methods for carbon reduction of transportation and verify the effectiveness. Therefore, this study derived carbon reduction design elements, such as high-density suburb, mixed-use development, pedestrian network and community corridor, which can be applied in the land-use planning stage by examining previous research. The carbon reduction design elements utilized the actual site during the research process. The carbon reductions were estimated using VISUM. Consequently, when carbon reduction design is applied to the site, the carbon emissions declined in the year. As a result of estimating the carbon reduction, approximately 450.7tCO2/yr was reduced.

Implementation of Behavior Notification System for Guide Dog Harness Using IMU and Accelerometer Sensor (IMU 및 가속도 센서를 이용한 안내견 하네스 행동 알림 시스템 구현)

  • In this paper, a behavior notification system of the harness of a guide dog is implemented for a blind person to get helps for environmental and situational awareness while walking with the guide dog. IMU modules is attached on the guide dog's harness saddle and the acceleration sensor belt is mounted on its thigh. Gait estimation and behavior judgement are performed by recording and analyzing the outputs of the sensors. Performance analysis for seven different kinds of behaviors has been done. The seven different behaviors, which the guide dog recognizes, are descending stairs, climbing stairs, uphill, downhill, stop, flat road, and selective disobedience. Results for the performance analysis show that the average success rate of the behavior rule estimation of harness of the guide dog is 92.78% and the behavior notification system can be effectively used in real situations.
