The study was carried out to determine the effect of storage property and qualities on soybean sauce and paste by adding different amount of pyroligneous liquor obtained by sujpercritical fluid extraction(SFE). Purified pyroligneous liquor obtained by SFE at 4$0^{\circ}C$/110 bar contained p-cresol, o-cresol and m-cresol food sterilizers, but no toxic substances such as tar, scorched, furfuraland and monophenol. Thus pyroligneous liquor was considered to be suitable as natural food preservative. In case of soybean sauce, pyroligneous liquor was tested to determine the potential of natual food preservative to prevent flim formation on soybean ksauce 15days at 3$0^{\circ}C$. Increasing amounts of purified pyroligneous liquor added to soybean sauce prevented film forming yeasts. In case of paste, pyroligneous liquor was tested to determine the potential of natural food preservative to inhibit browning on paste 60 days at 3$0^{\circ}C$. Purified pyroligneous liquor added to paste inhibited brown pigment. As a result, purified pyroligneous liquor offered a promising way of improving the quality and storage property of soybean sauce and paste.

The objective of this study was to estimate modification of semen quality during storage. Liquid boar semen samples extended in Beltsville Thawing Solution were stored at $17^{\circ}C$ up to 5 days. While % motility and linearity significantly decreased eon day 3 in extender, the qualitative motility patterns were maintained satisfactorily. Also the storage of boar semen up to 5 days before insemination did not significantly changed the acrosome intactness. However, acrosome changed sperm significantly increased and capacitated sperm significantly decreased from day 4. No significant modifications in acrosome integrity were showed during sperm storage; these results suggest that liquid boar semen may keep the quality in extender for 3 days.
Protein domain is the conserved unit of compact tree-dimensional structure and evolution, which carries specific function. Domains may appear in patterns in proteins, since they have been conserved through the evolution for functional formation of proteins. In this paper, we propose a formulated method for conservation analysis of domain combination based on association rule. Proposed method measures mutual dependency of domains in a combination, as well as co-occurrence frequency of them, which is conventionally used. Based on the method, we extracted conserve domain combinations in S.cerevisiae proteins and analyzed their functions based on Gene Ontology. From the results, we drew conclusions that domains in S.cerevisiae proteins form patterns whose members are highly affiliated to one another, and that extracted patterns tend to be associated with molecular function. Moreover, the results testified to proposed method superior to conventional ones for identifying domain combinations conserved for functional cooperation.
A series of animal experiments has been carried out to investigate the potential antigenicity of the FCS (Fetal Calf Serum) which is commonly used to enhance viability of preserved aortic allograft. Aorti allografts were processed using nutrient media without FCS(control group) or with 10% FCS(study group). After 14 days of 4$^{\circ}C$ cold storage and cryopreservation, antigenic expression of allograft rondothelial cells were studied using immunohistochemical study. To determine antigenicity, level of Anti-MHC class I Antibody, anti-MHC class II antibody and anti-lCAM 1 antibody were measured. There were no stAtistically significant differences in all antigenic expression between control group and study group(p=0. 524 in MHC class I expression, p=0.897 In MHC class II expression, p=0.1305 in ICAM 1 expression). With this result, antigenicity provoking effect of FCS could not be proven. Thus, FCS may not be eliminated from the nutrient media for preservation of aortic allograft due to its proven benefit of cell viability enhancement.
Conserved genes are importantly used to understand the major function in survival and replication of living organism. This study was focused on identification of conserved genes in microbial species and measuring the degree of conservation. For this purpose, in silico analysis was performed to search conserved genes based on the conservation level within microbial species. The ortholog list of COGs (Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins) in NCBI was used and whole genomes of 43 microbial species were included in that list. The distance value, derived from CLUSTALW multiple alignment program, was used as a descriptor of the conservation level of orthologs. It was revealed that 43 microbial genomes hold 72 conserved orthologs in common. The majority(72.2%) of the conserved genes was related to "translation, ribosomal structure and biogenesis" functional category. A GTPase-translation elogation factor(COG0050) was the best conserved gene from the distance value analysis. The 72 conserved genes, found in this research, would be useful not only to study minimal function genes but also new drug target among pathogens and to make a model of the virtual cell.tual cell.
Conservation measures for excavated and surveyed buried cultural heritages are decided by the administrator of the Cultural Heritage Administration according to their scientific and historic values. However, management, preservation, and use after relocation and restoration remain unsystematic. An issue regarding preservation plan and use has arisen due to the damage of preserved heritages and protective facilities. Thus, this study aims to suggest a plan for preservation and use by investigating the present conditions of the preserved heritages in the Chungbuk area. Results showed that there are 43 preserved heritages in Chungbuk, most of which remain unmanaged systematically irrespective of the managing body. Remainder and protective facilities have been damaged due to wrong preservation treatments and selection of materials, and a problem also rises in terms of utilization, such as exhibition, education, and experience of preserved heritages. To improve such problems, a medium and long-term plan shall be established for the improvement of legal and institutional instruments, securing of budget, increase in professional manpower, development of standardization and inspection manuals, continuous monitoring, preventive preservation, research on relocation methods and materials, listing, and the creation of specialized museum and complex theme park. If a preservation plan suited to the investigated heritages can be developed, heritages can be preserved and managed more systematically and scientifically, and be used for various purposes like education, exhibition, public relations, etc.
The most important part of conservation treatment of murals is to preserve them against the risk of a damage by injecting fixative into them when the painting loses its cohesion or powderization of pigments occurred due to occurrence of cracks inside the painting layer. However, studies on the stability of fixative used for painting layers of murals are still insufficient. This study manufactured a mural as a specimen and colored it with four kinds of pigments including oyster shell white, cinnabar, malachite and red clay and applied four kinds of fixative, including, Paraloid $B-72^{(R)}$, Caparol-$binder^{(R)}$, glue and Hydoxypropyl $cellulose^{(R)}$. artificially generated environmental changes in temperature, humidity and ultraviolet rays which may occur after the completion of conservation treatment. Then the changes in physical properties were observed in multifaceted ways such as color stability, contact angle, brilliance, adhesive strength and surface. As a result, this study found that ultraviolet rays and hot?humid environment have a large impact on color stability causing changes in brightness and chroma of all painting layers where the fixative were applied, except for oyster shell white and are considered the main factors of decomposition by accelerating the aging process of fixatives applied. In comparison to the synthetic resins that were also tested in this study, the traditional glue showed satisfactory results in terms of color stability and influence preservation and the hydrophile property. As it showed exceptionally outstanding adhesive strength in all painting layers in the aspect of adhesive strength, it is considered to be highly stabile for the fixation treatment of painting layers of mural.
There is a growing demand for natural materials to replace adhesives based on volatile organic compounds (VOCs). However, the exclusion of VOCs from the manufacturing process leads to difficulties in manufacturing, and reduction in productivity and preservability. In this paper, we report the manufacture of natural bioadhesives using the carrageenan component of seaweed. λ-carrageenan, isolated from the extracted total carrageenan, was used to prepare a highly stable adhesive for paper. The resulting composition was 52.0 ± 1.0% λ-carrageenan, 30.5 ± 0.5% Polyvinylpyrrolidone, 1.0 ± 0.05% ethylhexylglycerin, 1.5 ± 0.05% glycerin, 13.5 ± 0.5% dextrine, and 0.6 ± 0.05% food-grade antifoam emulsion. The viscosity was found to be 1.13 ± 0.07 × 105 cP (25℃), UV degradation occurred at pH6.22, drying rate was 15min, △b* was -10.79, and △E* ab was 8.18. The bioadhesive showed an excellent adhesion strength of 44.63 kgf/cm2. Thus this adhesive showed excellent fungal resistance and good adhesive persistence, without the presence of total volatile organic compounds (TVOC), formaldehyde (HCHO), and heavy metals.

Chicken spermatozoa have the ability to survive in low-temperature environments; however, the effects of low temperature on sperm motility and acrosome damage have not been studied in detail. The present study investigated semen longevity following dilution of rooster semen with Beltsville Poultry Semen Extender (BPSE) and Lake extender in preservation vessels (1.5 mL e-tube and 0.5 mL straw). Spermatozoa motility in the closed-type vessel (0.5 mL straw) was higher than that in the 1.5 mL e-tube on day 3 of preservation (68.6±3.1% vs. 22.1±5.7%). The motility of rooster semen diluted with BPSE in 0.5 mL straw was also higher than that of the Lake extender on day 3 of preservation (57.7±5.6% vs. 37.7±5.4%). Furthermore, acrosome intactness was higher in 0.5 mL straw than in the 1.5 mL e-tube, and the rate of acrosome cap damage increased with preservation days. The present study demonstrates that a closed 0.5-mL straw vessel could be used for low-temperature semen preservation, with an increased motility rate and acrosome integrity in fresh rooster semen.
