  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between home environment stimulation, and parenting self-efficacy and family health. Participants consisted of 569 mothers and their children living Incheon and Buchon Province. Home Environment Stimulation Scale, Parenting Self-Efficacy, and Family Health questionnaire were administered to the mothers. Descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, correlation analysis, and regression were used for data analysis. Analysis of variance revealed statistically significant differences in the family healths according to mothers' employment, income, Mothers' education level predicts Mothers' parenting self-efficacy, home environment stimulation and family health.

  • In this paper, we present a centralized monitoring system for infant incubator using Bluetooth. Conventional monitoring systems for incubators require large space and wire connection, which causes the spatial restrictions. To overcome this disadvantage, centralized monitoring system is proposed for infant incubators using Bluetooth. The implemented system consists mainly of transmission systems and receiver systems. There are temperature sensors, humidity sensors, ECG measurement units and Bluetooth modules in the transmission systems. For temperature, humidity and ECG data, the transmission systems acquire them from the measuring modules in the incubator and transmits the signals using Bluetooth. In the receiver system, users can see the status of the infant by accessing the central monitoring host computer. That is, one can monitor the information on the temperature and the humidity in the incubator and Infant's ECG without dependence to a conventional bulky system. Also, the system manager in the receiver system can maintain centralized monitoring of the situations in all incubators and infant. The developed system will be useful in remote diagnosis of infant incubator In various environments.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderational effects of self-efficacy on the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention of nursery teachers. Data were collected from 355 nursery teachers on JSS, TIS, and SES, which then were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, job satisfaction was positively related to self-efficacy, Second, job satisfaction was negatively related to turnover intention. Third, self-efficacy was negatively related to turnover intention. Fourth, self-efficacy had moderational effects on the relationships between job satisfaction and turnover intention. The above findings imply that various programs should be taken to enhance the self-efficacy of teachers in order to reduce turnover rates.

  • The study aims to reveal the factors that impact the decisions made by child care directors in the process of managing their day care centers. The seven participants I surveyed are directors in child care centers located in Seoul and Kyung Ki-Do. Through in-depth interviews and case-by-case studies, I uncovered that there are both external and internal factors that influence a director decisions. The external factors are following the standards set by the law, accommodating the demands set by parents, collaboration with the teachers, accepting the advice of friends and family, and creating realistic conditions. The internal factors are each director's own management philosophy, religious beliefs, and personal experience. This study aims to create policies for establishing and developing educational material so that child care directors will be able to provide an ideal environment for the supervision and education of children.

  • The purposes of this study are to propose architectural design and evacuation management guidelines for child care center with disabilities. To achieve these purposes, the questionnaire has carried out for director who manage child care center and analyzed the architectural characteristics of child care center for children with disabilities. The results of this study are as follows : (1) 65.3% directors think that less than 30% of children with disabilities in child care center can evacuate by oneself, and 73.2% of child care centers have difficulties for safe evacuation because of more than 50% of children with complex disabilities. (2) The moving or visual impaired children who live more than 2nd floors are need safe refuge areas for waiting in child care centers. (3) The child care centers for children with disabilities which were renovated from housing and multi-family housing have difficulties in vertical evacuating, and needs renovating for promotion of convenience and evacuation of children with disabilities.

  • This study investigated the relationships of preschool children's interactive peer play, stimulated home environment, and mother-child interaction. A total of 255 children were selected in this study. Data were analyzed with Pearson correlations and covariance structural analysis by using SPSS and AMOS, a statistical program for structural equation modeling. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, interactive peer play was associated with stimulated home environment and mother-child interaction. Second, the results confirmed the pathway from stimulated home environment via mother-child interaction to interactive peer play showing a significantly good model fit. The paths from stimulated home environment to children's interactive peer play were mediated by mother-child interaction.

  • Purpose : As the number of children who attend child care centers has increased, concerns has increased about the effect of child day care on childhood illness. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between experience in child care and common infectious diseases in children under 5 years of age. Methods : Data were collected by surveying 1,000 respondents with children under age 5 through online interviews using a structured questionnaire. The contents of the survey were composed of demographic characteristics, child care facilities usage, experience in infectious diseases, and immunization status Results : Among the 1,000 children <5 years of age, 78.5% attended a child care facility. Rates of common communicable illnesses were higher in children in child care than for children reared exclusively at home. The predominant communicable diseases which the respondents' children experienced, in order of decreasing frequency, were gastroenteritis (47.1%), otitis media (41.8%) and pneumonia (19.1%). The immunization rate of vaccines that are not included the national immunization program (NIP) (Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine - 76.6%, hepatitis A vaccine - 63.3%, pneumococcal vaccine - 59.4%, rotavirus vaccine - 43.1%) was lower than that of the NIP vaccines (90.4%) Conclusion : Children in child care experience more bouts of common infectious disease, so nationwide policies to prevent or to control the spread of infectious agents in a child-care should be available and appropriate immunization should be emphasized as the most effective method for the control of infectious disease for children.
