A Study on the Estimation of Probabilistic Repair.Reinforcement Cycles from Rating Curve of Steel Girder Bridges (강재 교량의 노후화에 따른 확률적 보수.보강 주기 추정에 관한 연구)

  • The cost for maintenance of bridge structures such as repair or reinforcement is increasing. In addition, the efforts for inspection of bridge structures is becoming more important since the proper repair or reinforcement should be performed to save the maintenance cost and ensure the safety for public infrastructure. Therefore, it is studied on this paper to estimate the repair or reinforcement cycles using probabilistic approach for the steel-box girders of bridge superstructure. In addition, a computer simulation program is uniquely developed based on probabilistic approach to calculate the cycles derived from the function of age of bridge and performance rating curve which were previously studied. In order to ensure the reliability of results and appropriateness of the model, statistical analyses were performed. Also, the results were compared and proved to be similar with ones from previous statistical data related to the repair or reinforcement cycles. The results from this study is expected to be useful for the determination of proper time to repair or reinforce the bridge structure and raise the safetyness of bridge structure in advance.

  • The objective procedure and criterion needs to efficiently perform the safety assessment and improve reliability for results of the cost analysis. There are many studies about cost analysis of safety assessment, but the these studies have problems such as non-quantification of criterions and methods. The purpose of this study to suggest the procedure and criterion for successful cost analysis and quantify cost factors. First, in the cost analysis of the housing reconstruction that is presented this study, determinate the life-cycle and the discount rate, then estimate reconstruction cost and remodeling cost. Finally, compare the annual equivalent LCC of two costs for decision malting to reconstruction or remodeling.

The Cost Structure of the Lines of Urban Railway (도시철도 노선의 비용구조 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the degree of cost inefficiency for the urban railway lines of a metropolitan city operated by public institutions in Korea and identify the causes of this inefficiency. To this end, we assume that the urban railway lines produce the output of train-km by putting three production factors of labor, electric power and maintenance and set the variable cost function model with the translog function to make a stochastic cost frontier analysis. Based on estimated result, we conclude that the cost savings for 6 years of all lines are about 6,672 hundred million won and top five lines with high inefficiency are Busan Line1, Daegu Line1, Daejeon Line1, Gwangju Line1, and Daegu Line2. The causes of inefficiency are attributable to labor and maintenance factors. The results of this study can be useful in case of finding the priorities of measures and specific plans for reducing labor and maintenance costs in the urban railway operation.

  • 소프트웨어 시스템 개발의 수명 주기에서 유지 보수 단계에 투입되는 시간과 비용은 상당한 비율에 달한다. 그 결과, 과거에는 시스템을 개발할 때 , 프로그래밍에 중점을 두었지만 현재는 유지 보수에 중점을 두고 있는 실정이다. 따라서,효과적인 소프트웨어의 창출을 위해서는 좀더 나은 유지보수기법을 도출할 필요가 있다. 또한 소프트웨어의 중요성을 감안할 때 특히 소프트웨어에 대한 성능이 추가, 수정 , 보완을 원활하게 할 수 있는 소프트웨어 유지보수 기법의 적용이 절실하다 하겠다. 본 연구에서 측정요인(프로그램 크기, 복잡성, 구조적 개발방법론)에 따라서 어떠한 유지보수기법의 효과적인가를 실험을 통하여 도출해보았다.

  • There are many studies on the project planning, project management and quality management. The cost of the new project takes only 20% of system's lifetime resource and the costs of the maintenance and infrastructure take more than 80%, so the study on the maintenance is much more important than the study on the new project. There has been many studies on the economic life cycle of the system using it's maintenance cost, but no studies on it's infrastructure cost. This paper provides how we can adapt infrastructure cost, which takes more than 40% of system's life cycle cost, to the economic life cycle of the system and its effects on the system's economic life cycle.

  • The sustained upkeep of apartment buildings necessitates ongoing maintenance and timely repairs, particularly given their complex nature due to extensive areas, common facilities, and multiple residential and service structures. Additionally, the need for cost-effective maintenance is paramount for ensuring safety, preserving value, and maintaining economic efficiency. However, the multitude of external variables influencing apartment complex maintenance, coupled with the challenges in data collection, have resulted in limited research in this domain. To address this gap, the current study aims to develop a framework for predicting maintenance costs utilizing deep learning techniques, grounded in real-world apartment complex maintenance cost data. This study intends to provide a practical and valuable contribution to the field of apartment complex management, empowering stakeholders with enhanced predictive capabilities for optimizing maintenance strategies and resource allocation.

  • This study is interested in modeling the selection of optimal repair materials in view of the qualitative evaluation. In order to architecting the evaluation model of various repair alternatives, Analytical hierarchy process techniques was applied to this study. It is composed of aesthetics, easy-to-application, economical efficiency, and environment-friendly properties in upper level. Among the qualitative evaluation items, Environment-friendly properties and execution cost included in economical efficiency is highly weighted. It was concluded that the evaluation model by this study is very useful to choose the best alternative among various repair materials.

Optimal Life-Cycle Cost Design of Steel Box Girders (강박스 거더의 생애주기비용 최적설계)

  • This paper presents a design method to minimize Life Cycle Cost (LCC) of steel box girders. The LCC considered in this paper includes initial cost, expected life-cycle maintenance cost and repair cost. A load carrying capacity curve is derived from a condition grade curve of steel girders and load tarrying capacity that is measured in safety diagnostic test. And then, optimal design of steel box girders is performed on the basis of load carrying capacity curve. In this paper time and number of times for repair of steel girders are determined based on the calculated load carrying capacity curve. Also, annual costs considering real discount rate are compared and analyzed in various cases. It is concluded that the optimal design of steel box gilders considering LCC by the presented method will lead to more economical and safer girders than conventional design.
