  • 한국건설기술연구원에서는 기상청과 한강홍수통제소에서 생산중인 강수예측자료의 정확도 향상과 홍수예보에 활용하기 위해 예측강수 병합 기법을 개발하였다. 본 연구에서는 기 평가된 강수량 예측 정확도 외에 홍수예보의 적용성을 살펴보기 위해 각 예측 강수량 자료의 유출량 정확도 평가를 하고자 하였다. 한강홍수통제소의 비상용 홍수예보모형을 이용하여 +6시간까지 병합 예측 자료의 유출분석을 실시하였다. 임의의 강우분포를 이용하여 예측하는 기존 홍수예보에 비해 개선된 결과를 확인할 수 있었다.

ε-AMDA Algorithm and Its Application to Decision Making (ε-AMDA 알고리즘과 의사 결정에의 응용)

  • In fuzzy logic, aggregating uncertainties is generally achieved by means of operators such as t-norms and t-conorms. However, existing aggregation operators have some disadvantages as follows : First, they are situation-independent. Thus, they may not be properly applied to dynamic aggregation process. Second, they do not give an intuitional sense to decision making process. To solve these problems, we propose a new $\varepsilon$-AMDA (Aggregation based on the fuzzy Multidimensional Decision Analysis) algorithm to reflect degrees of strength for option i (i = 1, 2, ..., n) in the decision making process. The $\varepsilon$-AMDA algorithm makes adaptive aggregation results between min (the most weakness for an option) and max (the most strength for an option) according to the values of the parameter representing degrees of strength for an option. In this respect, it may be applied to dynamic aggregation process. In addition, it provides a mechanism of the fuzzy multidimensional decision analysis for decision making, and gives an intuitional sense to decision making process. Thus, the proposed method aids the decision maker to get a suitable decision according to the degrees of strength for options (or alternatives).

Effect of Acetazolamide on the Diuretic Action of Furosemide in Rabbits (Acetazolamide가 Furosemide의 이뇨작용에 미치는 영향)

  • Effect of acetazolamide on the diuretic action of furosemide was investigated in rabbits. The rates of urine flow and excretion of salts were significantly reduced when furosemide (0.5 mg/kg) was administered with acetazolamide (10 mg/kg) compared to the diuretic response of the single furosemide (0. 5 mg/kg) administration. Reduction in the fractional excretion rate of urine volume was more pronounced than the fractional excretion rate of salts. The results suggest that reduction of diuretic action on furosemide by combined administration of acetazolamide is probably due elevated urinary pH and interference in the mechanism of inhibition of chloride transport in the ascending Henle's limb.

Color Image Segmentation Based on Edge Salience Map and Region Merging (경계 중요도 맵 및 영역 병합에 기반한 칼라 영상 분할)

  • In this paper, an image segmentation method which is based on edge salience map and region merging is presented. The edge salience map is calculated by combining a texture edge map with a color edge map. The texture edge map is computed over multiple spatial orientations and frequencies by using Gabor filter. A color edge is computed over the H component of the HSI color model. Then the Watershed transformation technique is applied to the edge salience map to and homogeneous regions where the dissimilarity of color and texture distribution is relatively low. The Watershed transformation tends to over-segment images. To merge the over-segmented regions, first of all, morphological operation is applied to the edge salience map to enhance a contrast of it and also to find mark regions. Then the region characteristics, a Gabor texture vector and a mean color, in the segmented regions is defined and regions that have the similar characteristics, are merged. Experimental results have demonstrated the superiority in segmentation results for various images.

  • In this paper, we propose a new log buffer management scheme considering the accessibility of the data. Our proposed scheme evaluates the worth of the merge of log blocks. It conducts the merge operations between infrequently updated data and the data blocks and postpones as much as possible the merge operations between frequently updated data and the data blocks. As a result, the proposed method prevents the unnecessary merge operations, reduces the number of the erase operations, and improves the utilization of the flash memory storage. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with BAST and FAST. It is shown through performance evaluation that the proposed method achieves about 25% and 65% performance improvements over BAST and FAST on average in terms of the number of the erase operations.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effects of combined treatment of clove bud essential oil (CBEO) and mild heat (MH) on inactivation of Escherichia coli O157:H7 inoculated onto red oak leaves. Combined treatment of 0.2% CBEO with MH at $50^{\circ}C$ exhibited the highest inhibitory effect against E. coli O157:H7 among treatments, resulting in 1.45 log reduction compared with water washing treatment. In addition, inhibitory effect of the combined treatment was maintained during storage of red oak leaves at $4^{\circ}C$ for 9 days, showing 1.67~2.25 log reductions compared with non-treated samples. Thus, these results indicate that combined treatment with CBEO/MH can be used to ensure the microbiological safety of fresh leaf vegetables such as red oak leaves during storage.

The Verification of Image Merging for Lumber Scanning System (제재목 화상입력시스템의 화상병합 성능 검증)

  • Automated visual grading system of lumber needs correct input image. In order to create a correct image of domestic red pine lumber 3.6 m long feeding on a conveyer, part images were captured using area sensor and template matching algorithm was applied to merge part images. Two kinds of template matching algorithms and six kinds of template sizes were adopted in this operation. Feature extracted method appeared to have more excellent image merging performance than fixed template method. Error length was attributed to a decline of similarity related by difference of partial brightness on a part image, specific pattern and template size. The mismatch part was repetitively generated at the long grain. The best size of template for image merging was $100{\times}100$ pixels. In a further study, assignment of exact template size, preprocessing of image merging for reduction of brightness difference will be needed to improve image merging.

Effect of a Dual-task Virtual Reality Program for Seniors with Mild Cognitive Impairment (경도인지장애 노인에게 적용한 이중과제 병합 가상현실 프로그램의 효과)

  • This study examined the effects of a dual-task virtual reality program on the cognitive function and EEG for patients with mild cognitive impairment. A dual-task virtual reality program was performed in the experimental groups while conventional occupational therapy was carried out in the control group for 30 minutes per session, which was done five days per week for 6 weeks. The results were as follows. First, the memory of the cognitive function and balance was improved significantly in the experimental group with the dual-task virtual reality program compared to the control group with the traditional occupational therapy. Second, EEG was also increased significantly in the experimental group compared to the control group. The results of this study suggest that the dual-task virtual reality program was an effective treatment method for the elderly with mild cognitive impairment and would be a cornerstone of basic data that will be helpful to those suffering from a range of diseases.

Image Segmentation by Cascaded Superpixel Merging with Privileged Information (단계적 슈퍼픽셀 병합을 통한 이미지 분할 방법에서 특권정보의 활용 방안)

  • We propose a learning-based image segmentation algorithm. Starting from super-pixels, our method learns the probability of merging two regions based on the ground truth made by humans. The learned information is used in determining whether the two regions should be merged or not in a segmentation stage. Unlike exiting learning-based algorithms, we use both local and object information. The local information represents features computed from super-pixels and the object information represent high level information available only in the learning process. The object information is considered as privileged information, and we can use a framework that utilize the privileged information such as SVM+. In experiments on the Berkeley Segmentation Dataset and Benchmark (BSDS 500) and PASCAL Visual Object Classes Challenge (VOC 2012) data set, out model exhibited the best performance with a relatively small training data set and also showed competitive results with a sufficiently large training data set.

The effect of swimming plus hypolipidemic agent on obesity (비만에 대한 고지혈증 치료제와 수영운동의 병합처방의 효과)

  • Obesity is frequently associated with metabolic disease. This study showed whether fenofibrate, a hypolipidemic agent, swimming and swimming combined with fenofibrate (: combination) regulate obesity, and whether combination is more effective than fenofibrate on regulation of obesity in high-fat diet-fed mice for 8 weeks. Both fenofibrate and swimming decreased obesity-associated factors such as body weight, adipose tissue mass, serum lipid levels and adipoctye size, compared with control mice. When mice were concomitantly treated with fenofibrate and swimming, combination reduced further the inhibitory effects on obesity-associated factors, compared with fenofibrate. Both fenofibrate, swimming and combination decreased serum glucose levels, compared with control mice. The evidence is presented herein that combination were effective to control obesity and serum glucose levels, suggesting that swimming combined with fenofibrate might contribute to inhibition of high-fat diet fed-induced metabolic syndrome.
