In a linear cascade experimental apparatus, when it adopts only few blades as well as satisfies the periodic condition between blades, it gives several advantages in experiment. In this study, wall design on a cascade experimental apparatus is conducted to obtain the periodic condition on two blades installed within a passage of which the width is double pitch. The Mach number difference on the blade surface obtained with the periodic and wall condition is chosen as an objective function, and twelve design variables which are related to the wall shape are selected. A wall shape is designed using a gradient-based optimization method. Adjustment of range and weighting function are applied to calculate the objective function to avoid unrealistic evaluation of the objective function. By applying these methods, the computed results show same flow structures obtained with the periodic condition.

In this paper, DOA(direction of arrival) of multiple incident signals received from linear array antenna and circular array antenna, which is based on nonparametric estimation algorithm, and adaptive beam-forming algorithm are studied and analyzed. In nonparametric estimation algorithm, we minimize a regularized objective function for finding a estimate of the signal energy as a function of angle, using nonquadratic norm which leads to supper resolution and noise suppression. And then, DOA is estimated by the signal and noise spatial steering vector, and adaptive beam-forming pattern is improved by weight vectors obtained from the spatial vector. Especially, the discrimination ability of DOA and the adaptive beam-forming ability according to antenna array methods and the number of array elements are compared and considered.

Biological early warning system detects toxicity by looking at behavior of organisms in water. The system uses classifier for judgement about existence and amount of toxicity in water. Boosting algorithm is one of possible application method for improving performance in a classifier. Boosting repetitively change training example set by focusing on difficult examples in basic classifier. As a result, prediction performance is improved for the events which are difficult to classify, but the information contained in the events which can be easily classified are discarded. In this paper, an incremental learning method to overcome this shortcoming is proposed by using the extended data expression. In this algorithm, decision tree classifier define class distribution information using the weight parameter in the extended data expression by exploiting the necessary information not only from the well classified, but also from the weakly classified events. Experimental results show that the new algorithm outperforms the former Learn++ method without using the weight parameter.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral health behaviors and periodontal diseases in adult obese people. Using the original data of the second phase of the 6th National Health and Nutrition Survey, the final 4381 adults were extracted. We analyzed frequency and technical statistics and chi - square test and multiple logistic regression analysis using SPSS statistical program to confirm the association between body mass index, number of brushing, drinking, smoking and oral health status and behavior. As a result, the prevalence of periodontal disease decreased as the number of toothbrushing increased, and the prevalence of periodontal disease increased as the body mass index increased. Through this study, obesity, a global health issue, should be more concerned with oral care and develop oral health management programs.
In this study, we predicted the employment ratio by the export industry using various machine learning methods and verified whether the prediction performance is improved by applying the constrained forecast combination method to these predicted values. In particular, the constrained forecast combination method is known to improve the prediction accuracy and stability by imposing the sum of predicted values' weights up to one. In addition, this study considered various variables affecting the employment ratio of each industry, and so we adopted recursive feature elimination method that allows efficient use of machine learning methods. As a result, the constrained forecast combination showed more accurate prediction performance than the predicted values of the machine learning methods, and in particular, the stability of the prediction performance of the constrained forecast combination was higher than that of other machine learning methods.
In the study the instantaneous unit hydrographs (IUHs) based on the linear Nash (1957) and the nonlinear Diskin (1964) models are derived and compared for the Soyang river basin. Total 14 rainfall runoff events are used for the study and the model parameters are estimated by minimizing the sum of square error considering runoff hydrograph ordinates as relative weights. The representative IUHs for both models are decided to show an average shape of derived IUHs. In the application of the representative IUHs of Nash and Diskin, Diskin model shows better performances in reproducing the observed outflows, especially the peak flow. In the comparison of two Diskin models little difference could be found between the IUHs with the same or different number of two characteristic reservoirs.rvoirs.

This study suggests that experts' group decision support system (Experts'GDSS) should be helpful to solve specific planning/design problems. Dealing with AHP (Analytic Hierarchical Process), as a group decision model, maximal covering model, as a facility allocation model, and GIS (Geographic Information System; ARC/INFO in this study), as a spatial representation model, this study seeks to examine the implication of GDSS (Group Decision Support System) in the housing facility allocation. The results of this study clearly demonstrated that experts' GDSS acted its positive role, systematically providing the relative weights among the planning variables and objectives. Among different expert groups (e.g., planners, scholars, and public administrators), this study showed that there were certain differences in their decision structures, which generated different solutions in facility allocation. The further study, however, remains to investigate the more systematic implementation of GDSS in planning problems; for example, reducing the conflicts between different groups with different purposes.

To reduce the effects of the uncertainties due to the modeling error and aerodynamic coefficients, a nonlinear adaptive control system based on neural networks is proposed . Neural networks parameters are adjusted by using an adaptive law. The sliding mode control scheme is used to compensate for the effect of the approximation error of neural networks. Control parameters and neural networks structures are optimized to obtain better performance by using the genetic algorithm. By introducing the concept of multi-groups of populations, the genetic algorithm is modified so that individuals and groups can be simultaneously evolved . To verify the performance of the pro posed algorithm, the optimized neural networks control system is applied to an aircraft longitudinal dynamics.
In this paper We describe an algorithm which is devised for 4he partition o# the input space and the generation of fuzzy rules by the fuzzy entropy and tested with the time series prediction problem using Mackey-Glass chaotic time series. This method divides the input space into several fuzzy regions and assigns a degree of each of the generated rules for the partitioned subspaces from the given data using the Shannon function and fuzzy entropy function generating the optimal knowledge base without the irrelevant rules. In this scheme the basic idea of the fuzzy neural network is to realize the fuzzy rules base and the process of reasoning by neural network and to make the corresponding parameters of the fuzzy control rules be adapted by the steepest descent algorithm. The Proposed algorithm has been naturally derived by means of the synergistic combination of the approximative approach and the descriptive approach. Each output of the rule's consequences has expressed with its connection weights in order to minimize the system parameters and reduce its complexities.
