난류경계층에서 벽와도와 유동방향 속도섭동과의 상관관계 (Correlation of Wall Vorticity and Streamwise Velocity Fluctuations in a Turbulent Boundary Layer)

  • A simultaneous measurement of wall vorticity and near-wall streamwise velocity fluctuations has been performed using a V-type wall vorticity probe and an I-type velocity probe to investigate the relation between them. Long-time averaged space-time correlations show that the wall vorticity is highly correlated with a turbulence structure which is tilted from the wall in the streamwise direction and that there is a streamwise vortex pair near the wall. It is shown that a structure correlated with the streamwise wall vorticity is smaller than and prior to a structure correlated with the spanwise wall vorticity. Tilting angles are obtained from the phase shift between the wall vorticity and streamwise velocity fluctuations. The tilting angle of the structure correlated with the streamwise wall vorticity is larger than that of the structure correlated with the spanwise wall vorticity. The convection velocity of the near-wall streamwise velocity fluctuations obtained from the space-time correlation is in good agreement with previous results.

  • A simultaneous measurement of the wall skin friction and near-wall streamwise velocity fluctuations is performed using hot film and hot wire anemometers to investigate the relation between them. Near-wall turbulence statistics measured with a hot-wire probe are in good agreement with previous results. Turbulence properties of the wall skin friction fluctuations measured with a hot film also show fairly good agreements with those measured by others except that rms level is lower in the present study. Long-time averaged space- time correlations show that the wall skin friction is highly correlated with a turbulence structure which is tilted from the wall in the streamwise direction. Tilting angles are obtained from the phase shifts between the wall skin-friction and streamwise velocity fluctuations. The convection velocity of the near-wall streamwise velocity obtained from the space-time correlation is in good agreement with that from the direct numerical simulation database.

평판 난류경계층에서의 벽 압력섭동에 대한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Wall Pressure Fluctuations in the Turbulent Boundary Layer on a Flat-Plate)

  • The wall pressure fluctuations of a turbulent boundary layer over a flat plate have been investigated in an anechoic wind tunnel facility. The anechoic wind tunnel consists of acoustically-lined duct, muffler, and splitter-type silencer for noise suppression and vanes for reducing head losses involved. To improve spectra characteristics in high frequency range, a 1/8" pressure-type microphone sensor, which has a pin-holed cap of various diameters, was employed in this experiment. It was shown that the pin-holed microphone sensor with a dimensionless diameter $d^+$ of 7.1 resolved the high frequency pressure fluctuations most effectively among ones with various pin-hole diameters. The measured wall pressure spectra in terms of three types of scaling parameters were in good agreement with other experimental and numerical results. The pressure events of high amplitude were found to contribute to total fluctuating pressure energies in the turbulent boundary layer significantly and supposed to radiate to the far-field effectively.

  • In order to investigate the relation between wall vorticity and streamwise velocity fluctuations in a turbulent boundary layer, a wall vorticity probe has been developed, which consists of two hot-wires on the wall aligned in V configuration. Although the measured intensity of spanwise wall vorticity fluctuations is somewhat lower than previous results, the intensity of streamwise wall vorticity fluctuations is in good agreement with them. It has been shown that the measured intensity of spanwise wall vorticity fluctuations is affected by transverse length of the wall vorticity probe. Instantaneous streamwise and spanwise wall vorticity fluctuations are compared with the results of DNS. Probability density function of spanwise wall vorticity fluctuations shows good agreement with previous results and is different from that of streamwise wall vorticity fluctuations. Energy spectrum of streamwisw wall vorticity fluctuations is lower than that of spanwise wall vorticity fluctuations in low frequency region.

  • 16채널 어레이 마이크로폰을 이용하여 난류 유동장 내 벽면 압력섭동에 대한 측정을 수행하였다. 본 실험에 사용된 코팅재질은 약 50 ppi (pores per inch)의 다공성 구조로 이루어진 우레탄 물질로 이루어져 있다. 코팅의 주된 목적은 난류 유동장 내 최소한의 공간을 유지하면서 대류속도로 진행하는 난류 와들을 필터링하는 역할을 하는 것이다. 평판 위 경계층의 측정은 열선 유속계를 이용하였으며 표면 마찰계수 값을 얻기위해 CPM법을 사용하였다. 벽압력 스펙트럼과 파수-주파수 스펙트럼 측정은 코팅에 의해 얼마나 에너지가 저감되는 지를 비교하기 위해 사용되었다. 벽면 코팅은 대류하는 무차원 벽면섭동압력에너지를 저감시켰지만, 컴플라이언트 코팅된 벽면 거칠기로 인해 일반 강체 평판에 비해 상대적으로 발달된 경계층을 형성하였으며 벽면 평균전단응력과 저주파수 압력스펙트럼 레벨도 함께 증가하였다.

  • Conditional sampling techniques are utilized to investigate the relation between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations in a turbulent boundary layer. Conditionally averaged results using a peak detection and the VITA (variable-interval time-averaging) technique show that a high skin friction is associated with high frequency components of the wall skin-friction fluctuations. The conditionally averaged wall skin-friction fluctuations obtained by using the VITA technique have a positively-skewed characteristics compared with the conditionally averaged stream wise velocity fluctuations. It is confirmed that there exists a phase shift between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations, which was also found from the long-time averaged space-time correlations. The amount of phase shift between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations is the same as that from the long-time averaged space-time correlations and does not change despite the variation of the detection threshold.

  • A new measurement system of wall pressure fluctuations on a rotating machinery, composed of digital recording device, was developed and evaluated. The small-sized digital recording device was attached on the rotating machinery and then was detached for data reduction. In order to obtain the system transfer function of the digital recording system, a dynamic calibration was performed utilizing the signal from a 1/8 inch B&K microphone as input. The time history of the unsteady pressure was then reconstructed from the output of the sensor by using this transfer function. The reconstructed pressure signals showed good agreement with the reference signal in both temporal and spectral sense. This sensor was then used to measure the wall pressure fluctuations on a rotating blade. An array of microphones were installed on the blade in the circumferential and radial directions. Various statistical moments were obtained from the measurement data set. Comparison of these quantities with the existing studies demonstrated satisfactory agreement. These tests give credence to the relevance and reliability of this device for applications in more complicated turbulent rotating machineries.

열량계 채널에 대한 3차원 열전달 해석

  • 가열벽이 있는 4각단면 채널에서 3차원 열전달이 비선형 k-ε-fμ 모형과 큰에디모사법을 이용하여 해석되었다. 4각단면 채널로 모형화된 열량계 해석에 비선형 k-ε-fμ 모형과 비선형 열유속모형이 도입되었다. 레이놀즈수는 4000≤$Re_b$≤20000로 변화되었다. 난류의 비등방성으로 유도되는 구석와류는 주 유동속도의 1~3% 정도로 크지 않았지만 열전달에 커다란 영향을 주었다. 또한 채널 단면에 존재하는 나선형의 와류에 의해서 열전달이 심하게 변함을 보여 주었다. 예측된 열전달계수로부터 Nu~$Re^{0.8}Pr^{0.34}$가 검토되었고 온도의 섭동과 와유동의 비정상거동이 조사되었다.
