  • This study was for analysing the sedimentary rock slope stability and providing the reinforcement method that can heighten stability. The study area consists of Cretaceous basalt or basaltic tuff belonging to Hak-Bong Basalt Formation in Ha-Yang Group. Nature of geological structure confirmed in this area ars bedding, joint and fault. Majority of geological structure that affect most relationship rock slope stability is bedding. It is shown that dip direction is 120~160/15~25. In other structure, joint sets are shown that dip direction of set 1 is 310~330/65~85 and set 2 is 230~250/70~85. Joint set 3 shows above 85$^{\circ}$ high angle on NE trend although do not show clear. Stability analysis about rock slope used kinematic analysis, limit equilibrium method and FLAC by numerical analysis method. FLAC is continuum model that use Fintie Defferentce Method, but could use Interfaces Module and get discrete model's analysis effect such as UDEC.

  • In this paper, 1-axis tracking mechanism of solar-cell panel, which is able to rotate from -90 degree to +90 degree for maintaining always perpendicular between solar-cell panel and sun, was analyzed. This paper propose the non-linear shaped guidance and analyze mathematical formulation of non-linear shape. This analysis shows that it is able to identify the non-linear shaped guidance. Especially, even though the length of rotating link have changed, the non-linear shaped guidance could be confirm with proper size. As effectiveness of this result, 10% efficiency rising is estimated compared to the conventional 1-axis tracking mechanism and also optimal non-linear shaped guidance can be suggested for various size of solar-cell panel. Therefore the flexible mass-production is possible for various size of non-linear shaped guidance.

  • It is very important study field in computer vision 'How we obtain 3D information from 2D image'. For this purpose, we must know position of camera, direction of light source, and surface reflectance property before we take the image, which are intrinsic information of the object in the scene. Among them, surface reflectance property presents very important clues. Most previous researches assume that objects have only Lambertian reflectance, but many real world objects have Non-Lambertian reflectance property. In this paper the new method for analyzing the properties of surface reflectance and reconstructing the shape of object through estimation of reflectance parameters is proposed. We have interest in Non-Lambertian reflectance surface that has specular reflection and diffuse reflection which can be explained by Torrance-Sparrow model. Photometric matching method proposed in this paper is robust method because it match reference image and object image considering the neighbor brightness distribution. Also in this thesis, the neural network based shaped reconstruction method is proposed, which can be performed in the absence of reflectance information. When brightness obtained by each light is inputted, neural network is trained by surface normal and can determine the surface shape of object.

  • Several alternative rock-cutting concepts, which are modified from the conventional ones, have been developed lately. Of the concepts, undercutting is one of the latest technologies. In this study, as a fundamental study on the undercutting technique, the rock-cutting mechanism and important parameters of the undercutting were introduced. This study built up cutting test system for evaluating the cutting performance of an actuated undercutting disc cutter (ADC), and carried out a series of cutting tests under different cutting parameters of ADC. The characteristics of cutter forces obtained from ADC rock-cutting tests were analyzed. The both average and peak values of the three directional cutter forces were linearly increased with the increases of linear velocity, penetration depth in vertical direction and eccentricity of ADC.

  • Generally, a modified version of limit equilibrium method can be used to evaluate a slope stability of the geosynthetic reinforced soil slopes. In most cases, resisting effects of geosynthetic reinforcement are dealt with considering an increased shear strength on the potential slip surface. However, it is not clear that the methods satisfy all three equilibrium equations. As we know, the pattern of normal stress distribution along the slip surface is the key factor in calculating the safety factor of slopes. In this study, the new slope stability analysis method in which not only reinforcing effects of geosynthetics can be considered but also all three equilibrium equations can be satisfied was proposed with assuming the normal stress distribution along the slip surface as quadratic curve with horizontal $\chi-coordinate$. A number of illustrative examples, including published slope stability analysis examples for the reinforced and unreinforced soil slopes, loading test of large scale reinforced earth wall and centrifuge model tests on the geotextile reinforced soil slopes, were analyzed. As a result, it is shown that the newly suggested method yields a relatively accurate factor of safety for the reinforced and unreinforced soil slopes.

  • Field observations were conducted to collect hydrodynamic and morphological data, which are needed to account for mechanisms of bathymetry changes caused by physical forcings, in Haeundae beach. In order to quantitatively describe characteristics of wave transformations and current patterns in space in winter and summer, in-situ sensors for measuring waves and current profiles were installed at three locations in the cross-shore direction and also three locations in the along-shore direction. As for the results of wave measurements, waves with main direction from the east dominate in winter while waves are incident from the S and the ESE in summer. Analysis of current data reveals that currents over the study domain are considerably influenced by a pattern of tidal motions, thereby, mainly oscillating in the direction of tidal currents, i.e., east-west directions, in both winter and summer. Currents tend to be influenced by local bathymetry in the shallow water region, with the direction changed along the depth contours and the magnitude reduced as they approach the shoreline. The results analysed from the hydrodynamic data through this study can be further combined with the morphological and bathymetry data, leading to the quantification of seasonal sediment transport rates and sand budget changes.

  • The movement of drifting ships on the sea is closely related to marine environmental forces such as waves, currents, winds, etc. To develop a prediction model for trajectories oi drifting ships, an experiment on the movement of drifting ships was carried out in the Southeastern Sea of Korea. Five types of ships including a lire raft and tour ships with G/T 10tons, G/T 2o tons, G/T 50 tons, and G/T 80 tons, were considered in the experiment. The G/T 50 ton class ship was used as a base ship for obtaining the currents, winds and heading angles of ship following the trajectory. The trajectory of each ship was measured by DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) and collected using APRS(Automatic Position Reporting System) installed on the base ship. The error range in position fix of DGPS are approximately ±1 m. The drift speed of ship in the experiment was between 3% to 5% of wind speed and drift direction of ship was deflected by ±90° from wind direction. Also, the heading of drifting ship was normal to wind direction.

  • In this paper, wave absorbing characteristics of a horizontal submerged punching plate are investigated throughout the calculation and the experiment. The punching plate with the array of circular holes can force the flow to separate and to form eddies of high vorticity and cause significant energy loss. As an analytic tool, the linear water wave theory and the eigenfunction expansion method is applied. Darcy's law that the normal velocity of the fluid passing through the punching plate is linearly proportional to the pressure difference between two sides of the punching plate is assumed. The proportional constant called the porous coefficient is deeply dependent to the porosity. To obtain the relationship between the porosity and the porous coefficient the systematic model test for the punching plates with 6 different porosities is conducted at 2-dimensional wave tank. It is found that the porous coefficient is linearly proportional to the porosity(b=57.63P-0.9717). It is also noted that the optimal porosity value is near P=0.1 and the optimal range of submergence depth is $d/h\\leq0.2$ within entire frequency range.

  • The variation of groundwater by wave, tide and precipitation conditions is closely related to the vegetation environment at the natural vegetation and sandy based beach, and it has a significant impact on the vegetation development and ground stabilization. In this study, the water temperature, electrical conductivity, and pressure were monitored at five observational stations normal to the Jinu-do(Island) shoreline of Nakdong river estuary from March 2012 to September 2014 (approximately 799 days) with the aim of measuring the variation in groundwater-table characteristics. The purpose of the study was to identify factors (tide, wave etc.) affecting groundwater-table variation using time series and correlation analysis, and to record spatial variations in the groundwater level and electrical conductivity as a result of storm events. The observational station in the intertidal zone was strongly affected by wave period and tide level. During the storm period, the groundwater-table and electrical conductivity were stabilized at the edge of sand dunes, vegetation, and areas of transition between freshwater and seawater.

  • The present study is to predict the multidiretional random wave height at the front face and concave corner of a refracted breakwater which is not straight. The numerical simulation on wave height at the front face of an insular breakwater is performed by using the boundary element method, and obtained results have been compared with those of exact- and analytical solutions of the eigenfunction presented by Goda et al. (1971) and the other existing numerical solution. Also, the results of wave-height distribution due to the refracted breakwater have been validated through comparisons with previous results of analytical solution. Based on the validation through these comparisons, several wave-height distributions at the interested region have been illustrated for various conditions related with concave corner angles and the wave incidence, and then the prediction of wave height are simulated at the front face and concave corner of a refracted breakwater under construction currently. Excellent agreements have been obtained in all cases, and this study can effectively be utilized for predicting random waves for various breakwater system.
