A Study on the Effect of Adverse Weather Conditions on Public Transportation Mode Choice (강우 상태에 따른 대중교통 이용패턴 특성연구 - 부산광역시 버스통행을 중심으로 -)

  • Busan Metropolitan City government has been implementing the local Bus Quasi-Public Operating policy since 2007. As a result of the policy, financial burden to cover financial deficit has become a big social issue. For successful settlement of the policy, the government should be able to gradually cut off the financial support for the deficit by continuously increasing the bus demand, which can be accomplished by providing more convenient bus services. The weather conditions that affect the public transportation demand include rain, fog and snow. They affect the mode choice for public transportation use, which in turn results in decrease in bus demand. In short, the adverse weather conditions result in significant profit loss of bus transportation, and consequently it financially burdens the City of Busan. In this research, the pattern of travelers' use of transportation modes given various weather conditions was analyzed. In addition, the reasons why people transfer from one to other transportation modes were analyzed by conducting a field survey, and policy implications on desirable public transportation facilities and transfer system were discussed.

  • Recently, the solar module for charging internet devices is installed in crowded areas to offers services so that people can charge their smartphones or tablets. But this charging module can not be linked with the information related to a bus approach so people are subject to let their belongings such as smartphone, tablet pc at the bus stop while they are still charging it. This paper proposes a system to inform the smart phone when the bus is accessed by using the LPWA technology and BLE technology to resolve such under-failures. This experimental result showed that the power usage of LPWA based bus entry systems is an average of X, confirming that the long period usage of low-power can be possible for low power consumption in this results, enabling information on the bus to be transmitted to smart phones using Advertising mode of BLE.

  • This Study estimates the actual night traffic using the smart card data used by most of the public transportation users, and compares it with the current night bus routes by KT Telecom based on the night time call volume. In order to compare the current night bus and night trips evaluated by smart card data, we presented indicators related to the degree of matching, and estimated the volume of service currently provided. The unique approach of the study is that we chose subway station instead of bus stop for the unit of the study. Bus stops has their complexity in a way that stops with same name could belong to different administrative area depending on its direction. For this reason, we decided to use subway station and defined its adjacent administrative district as the scope of influence. Since night bus is the primary means of transportation during the late night, it is anticipated that they will be able to provide better service by calculating the actual traffic and selecting the routes.

  • Recently, due to COVID-19, non-face-to-face online lectures are being held all over the world. In higher education in the post-corona era, distance learning has become the main teaching and learning method. At this time, Metaverse is being proposed as a new alternative. Metaverse has basic elements such as avatars, 3D space, and activities accompanied by interaction, which can be seen as a difference compared to existing VR (Virtual Reality) contents. This study designed and built an educational metaverse platform that can be applied to actual lectures by reflecting the three elements of the metaverse.In addition, we implemented a cross-device-platform that supports various devices such as HMDs, smartphones, tablets, and PCs by reflecting user requirements through usability tests such as middle school, high school, college students, and parents, so that anyone can easily participate in Metaverse lectures. Currently, the metaverse platform is being developed and serviced in various ways, but there are hardly any services designed for education. Just as services such as Zoom, the existing video conferencing solution, were used for non-face-to-face education, some functions of the currently serviced metaverse are utilized for education and used in the form of a one-time event. The educational metaverse platform developed through this study is expected to be a reference in constructing the metaverse for education in the future.

A Study on the Influencing Factors of the Sales and Surplus Companies of the Townbuses in Seoul (서울시 마을버스 매출액 및 흑자업체의 영향요인에 대한 연구)

  • Unlike the semi-public system of city buses, Seoul's townbus are operated on a private operating system, which is poor condition to the changes in the environment. Sales decreased due to a decrease in the number of passengers due to COVID-19 and a demand for conversion due to the advent of competitive transportation methods, and the financial support of Seoul Metropolitan Government is continuously increasing. In this study, to analyze the characteristics of townbus operated by a private operating system, the townbus sales and surplus companies were analyzed by what factors were affected. For the analysis data, townbus financial statements of Seoul in 2018 were used, and townbus sales and surplus companies were applied as dependent variables, and townbus operation system, satisfaction survey, humanities and social variables, and subway and public bicycle characteristics were applied as independent variables. As a result of the analysis, the sales is affected by operating hours per vehicle, in-vehicle safety, the number of households, the number of elderly people, and public bicycle variables, and surplus companies are affected by in-vehicle safety, reliability, and public bicycle variables. In particular, public bicycles, a competitive means of transportation, had an impact on industry sales, and the townbus business environment is expected to become more difficult as time goes by. The industry is seeking self-rescue measures, and Seoul is required to strengthen financial support so that townbus can operate stably.

  • 현재 시행 중인 승용차 RFID 요일제는 제한적인 설치장소와 RFID 설치시 많은 비용이 소비된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 RFID 승용차 요일제 방식과 달리 효율성을 높이고 비용을 절감할수 있는 BMS(BUS Management System)를 활용한 버스 RFID system에 관한 방안을 제안한다. 제안하는 방안은 버스 RFID system은 대구시의 시내 버스 뒤편에 양쪽 상단에 RFID 안테나를 설치하여 대구시의 주요 도로를 운행 하며 승용차 요일제를 미준수 여부를 파악하는 것이다. 기존의 고정형 RFID는 설치 위치를 우회 할수 있지만 버스 RFID는 항상 이동하며 감지 하기때문에 차량의 우회에 따른 미확인 경우를 줄일 수 있다. 또한, BMS 활용으로 설치비용을 절감하여 비용대비 효율성을 제고할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 구체적인 방안 마련을 위하여 주요도로 버스노선도 파악, 중첩지점 그리고 기존의 승용차 요일제 시스템과 비교 분석을 하여 성능 평가들 실시하는 것에 주안점을 두고 연구를 수행하였다.

  • 본 작품은 코로나 바이러스로 인한 언택트 서비스의 부각과 더불어, 대중교통 이용시 승객들이 하차에 신경쓰지 않고 자신의 일에 집중 할 수 있도록 지원하기 위해 제작된 서비스이다. 버스 하차 전(혹은 승차 시) 미리 희망하는 하차 지점을 예약해놓으면 해당 정류장에 자동으로 버스의 하차벨을 울리게 된다. 스마트폰 앱과 버스에 설치된 단말을 활용하여 추가적인 설치비용을 절약하며, 이 후 완성된 시스템을 발전시켜 사용자별 타겟광고가 가능해지면 버스회사의 부족한 재원을 보다 확보할 수도 있다.

  • 최근 COVID-19 때문에 교육 및 모임 등 다양한 환경을 비대면으로 진행하고 있다. 이에 따라 메타버스 개념이 새로운 이슈로 주목받고 있다. 본 작품은 메타버스, 즉 3차원 가상공간의 새로운 세계에서 사용자를 대신하여 참여시킬 수 있는 아바타를 제작해 본다. 메타버스를 활용한 사용자의 움직임을 인식하는 3D 아바타는 코로나 사태로 인한 언택트 시대에 매우 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 본 논문에서는 사용자가 각종 비대면 미팅에 자신의 아바타를 만들어 참여할 수 있도록 그 아바타를 움직임과 함께 구현하는 과정을 설명한다. 먼저, Kinect를 통해 사용자의 움직임을 받아 유니티를 연동시켜 불러온다. 다음으로 블렌더를 통해 사용자가 원하는 아바타를 제작하고 유니티 환경에서 사용자의 움직임을 실시간으로 반영하는 아바타를 나타낸다. 사용자는 자신의 행동을 그대로 반영시켜주는 3D 아바타를 가상현실 속 화면을 통해 확인할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트 폰의 GPS 센서와 Google Map, OPEN API 기반의 버스 정보 제공을 하며 연동이 자유로운 어플리케이션을 설계하고 구현한다. 이 어플리케이션은 안드로이드의 GPS센서를 이용하여 현재 사용자의 위치를 기준으로 반경 200m 안의 버스 정류장을 확인할 수 있다. 그리고 공적마스크를 판매하는 약국/농협/우체국의 위치를 확인할 수 있다. 또한, 사용자의 위치 주변이 아닌 곳의 버스와 정류장을 검색할 수 있고 내릴 정류장 혹은 위치를 저장하여 내리기 전 알람을 받을 수 있다.

  • Modern society is steadily implementing policies to encourage public transportation to cope with the growing traffic demand on limited roads. The expectation is rising for transit signal priority to ensure the speed of buses as the installation of the bus rapid transit(BRT) expands nationwide to secure the competitiveness of buses. On the other hand, the form of BRT stops without considering some aspects of bus operation may increase the number of stops on the bus, thereby reducing the effectiveness of bus signal priority applications. This study suggests the type of bus stop to increase the operation efficiency of buses by analyzing the bus signal priority effect according to the BRT station type using Hannuri-daero, Sejong. The bus signal priority is used to maximize the two-way bandwidth of passenger cars and buses. As a result of the application, the effectiveness of the bus signal priority at the stop causing the double stop of the bus was reduced drastically, and the efficiency of the bus signal priority was increased significantly after improvement. These results are expected to be used as basic data in the form of proper bus stops considering the aspects of traffic operation when designing BRT stops in new towns in the future.
