A Study on the Stress Simulation for the Body Design of a PFA-lined Plug Valve (PFA 라이닝 플러그 밸브 설계를 위한 밸브 본체의 응력 시뮬레이션)

  • This study, is aimed to support the valve design engineer by a CAE simulation on the body of a PFA-lined plug valve, and focuses on static stress analysis, location of the weak point on bending and stiffness of the valve body. To determine whether the valve body can resist being transformed by loads, 1 simulated the stress distribution using CAD/CAE softwares. The 'step' file converted by CAD software after solid modeling is imported to the CAE software. Through simulation procedure, it is shown that the designed-solid-model fur a valve body has stiffness on bending and torsion but has weakness for side bending moment. Also, it is expected that the valve design engineer will understand the basic process of CAE and will be able to apply on his task.

A Study on Dynamic Simulation and Cam Profile Optimization for OHV Type Valve Trains (OHV형 밸브트레인의 동특성 해석 및 최적 캠 형상설계에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to understand the dynamic characterictics of OHV type valve trains and to design and optimal cam profile which will improve engine performance. A numerical model for valve train dynamics is presented, which aims at both accuracy and computational efficiency. The lumped mass model and distributed parameter model were used to describe the valve train dynamics. Nonlinear characterictics in the valve spring behavior were included in the model. Comprehensive experiments were carried out concerning the valve train dynamics, and the model was tuned based on the test results. The dynamic model was used in designing an optimal cam profile. Because the objective function has many local minima, a conventional local optimizer cannot be used to find an optimal solution. A modified adaptive random search method is successfully employed to solve the problem. Cam lobe area could be increased up to 7.3% without any penalties in kinematic and dynamic behaviors of the valve train.

  • Butterfly valves are used in various industries to control the flow rate, flow direction, pressure, and temperature. These are gaining popularity in the field of plant industry to enable high-differential pressure because of their low maintenance costs and ease of installation. This study presents a numerical analysis method to analyze changes in the flow characteristics of a high-differential pressure control butterfly valve based on the location and shape of the orifice. The numerical analysis was conducted using a commercial CFD program. The analysis results show a correlation between the orifice shape and cavitation phenomenon.

항공기용 유압 스푸울 밸브의 윤활해석

  • 유압장치의 핵심부품인 유압 제어밸브(hydraulic control valve)는 유압펌프 등에 의하여 가압된 유압유의 압력과 유량을 제어하고 유동방향을 변화시키는 주요기능을 수행한다. 특히, 대부분의 제어밸브는 스푸울(spool)과 슬리브(sleeve)를 기본구조로 채용하고 있다. 피스톤 형상인 스푸울이 슬리브내를 왕복운동하면 스푸울과 슬리브 사이의 간극(clearance)에서는 점성유체인 유압유의 윤활작용에 의하여 원주방향으로 비대칭인 유체압력이 발생한다. 이 결과로 스푸울에 측력(lateral force)이 작용하며, 조건에 따라서는 스푸울에 작용하며, 조건에 따라서는 스푸울에 작용하는 마찰력이 증대할 뿐만 아니라 스푸울과 슬리브의 내벽에 과도한 마멸(wear)을 유방시키기도 하여 제어밸브의 성능을 크게 저하시키기도 한다. 유압공학분야서는 이를 유체고착(hydraulic locking) 현상이라고 부른다. 본 논문에서는 항공기 Flap actuator의 Selector manifold에서 사용되는 스푸울 밸브의 성능에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 스프울과 슬리브 사이 간극에서의 윤활특성을 이론적으로 조사하고자 한다.

유압밸브의 내의 유동력과 대책(I)

  • 유압밸브의 스푸울(spool)에 작용하는 유동력을 정확하게 기술하는 것은 일반적으로 매우어렵고, 실험에 의존하는 경우가 많다. 수푸울의 형상이 비교적 간단한 경우에 대해서는, 적절한 가정하에 서 유동력의 크기를 계산할 수 있고, 그 결과를 설계에 이용할 수 있다. 많은 유압교과서에서 유 동력의 기술을 다루고 있으나 기술방법에 있어서 명확성이 결여된 느낌을 주는 경우가 많고, 가 끔 학생들이나 현장의 기술자들이 유동력의 개년메 대해서 혼돈하는 수가 있다. 이 글의 내용은 본인의 유압공학 강의에서 발춰, 정리한 것이고, 유압백브에 작용하는 유동력의 명확한 이해를 주 기 위해서 쓴 것이므로 앞으로 이 분야에 종사하는 사람들에게 참고가 되기를 희망한다. 여기서 다루는 문제는 유압밸브의 스푸울에 작용하는 반경방향의 유동력(Iateral forces)과 축방향의 힘 (axial forces), 포펫트형(popet type) 밸브에 미치는 유동력, 후렛퍼형(flapper) 밸브에 작용하는 힘 등이고 기하학적 형태가 간단한 경우에 대해서 논의한다.

Effects of Shape Anisotropy on Memory Characteristics of NiFe/Co/Cu/Co Spin Valve Memory Cells (NiFe/Co/Cu/Co 스핀밸브 자기저항 메모리 셀에서 형상자기이방성이 메모리 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • NiFe(60$\AA$)/Co(5$\AA$)/Cu(60$\AA$)/Co(30$\AA$) spin valve thin films were patterned into magnetoresistive random access memory (MRAM) cells by a conventional optical lithography process and their output and switching properties were characterized with respect to the cell size and geometry. When 1 mA of constant sense current was applied to the cells, a few or a few tens of mV of output voltage was measured within about 30 Oe of external magnetic field, which is an adequate output property for the commercializing of competitive MRAM devices. In order to resolve the problem of increase in the switching thresholds of magnetic layers with the downsizing of MRAM cells, a new approach using the controlled shape anisotropy was suggested and interpreted by a simple calculation of anisotropy energies of magnetic layers consisting of the cells. This concept gave a reduced switching threshold in NiFe(60$\AA$)/Co(5$\AA$) layer consisting of the patterned cells from about 15 Oe to 5 Oe and it was thought that this concept would be much helpful for the realization of competitive MRAM devices.

  • Fuel gas compressor system is applied to medium FPSO. In order to avoid surge, this system used the anti-surge valves. When surge occurs it may lead to system's fracture. So anti-surge valves are evaluated structural strength and structural safety. Especially, in emergency mode, valves are must be guaranteed structural safety. In this study, structural strength and structural safety of anti-surge valve was evaluated using the numerical simulation. Unigraphics NX 4.0 was used as Geometrical models, structural strength and structural safety calculation were carried out by ANSYS Workbench 12.1. The ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code is refer to allowable strength and safety factor of the valves.

  • This paper proposes a methodology for developing the performance of a solenoid valve for vehicles based on the dynamic analysis model by an electromagnetic field. The high performance solenoid model with a low current and high thrust was induced through the shape optimal design of the yoke and plunger. To perform the dynamic analysis of the solenoid valve, the input current profile was analyzed. The speed and thrust information was analyzed by FEM with this current profile. The co-simulation method of the circuit model of control logic and electromagnetic model of the solenoid valve was also proposed to analyze the performance with several current patterns. Finally, the performance of the original model and optimal one was compared.

  • It is very important that establishing the valve train equations and representing the behavior of the valve train parts. To maintain the specific efficiency of running engine, the cam profile of valve train has more specific influence on the adequate behavior of the valve train than a valve clearance, heat-resistance and durability of parts. The polynomial cam, the multipol cam and polydyne cam profie are widely used to represent cam behaviour. In this study, using polydyne cam design profile equations which is more adequate for representing high speed engine, the geometrical modeling and mathmatical variable analysis are established to analysis the valve behaviour.

Evaluation of the Effect on the Valve Flow Coefficient by Attached Fitting (밸브 후단 피팅에 따른 밸브 용량계수의 영향 평가)

  • This study was undertaken to verify the effect of flow coefficient when a globe control valve was attached by different type of fitting. The valve flow coefficient is usually determined by measuring the flow rate and the pressure drop with the connection of straight pipe through the valve. The effect of different fitting that is mounted on the downstream of the valve is studied. Four types of fittings and three distances between the valve and a downstream fitting are compared parametrically to investigate the effect on the flow coefficient of it. Measured flow coefficient and numerically predicted value by using computational fluid dynamics were compared in detail. It is concluded that the flow coefficient is reduced if the fitting is attached after a valve, but the effect of different type of fitting is not crucial.
